I know we have been getting a handful of folks joining the forum from Texas and wanted to see if anyone would be interested in meeting up for a round one weekend.  

I'm happy to work on tee times and coordinating if we can figure out a general location.

was looking at tee times today, it runs 104 but pretty much open any weekday in April

Just seeing this, would definitely be interested depending on schedule and location since Texas is not exactly small, haha. One thought is I hear the new PGA of America in Frisco has a stay and play for the 2 courses. And one of them is a major championship venue.

Selfishly, I like the PGA Frisco idea, as that is close to me. Recognize that Austin makes more sense as it’s centrally located.

If we can get this going on an annual basis, how awesome would it be to have it at Lajitas some time? Inconvenient to everyone . . .

It’s a little bit selfish on my part too as I am not that far. But I have also wanted to do it since hearing about. Would be so awesome to play a major course

I can't make it in July, but I like that you're making a concrete suggestion.

I think if this is going to happen, someone is going to need to take the reins, both in terms of location and date. Of course, we won't be able to accommodate everyone's preference.

It makes sense to me that someone local would shepherd that through. Is anyone willing to take that on?

I like the PGA Frisco location Idea and the suggestion of The Bandit; as others have said, selfishly the PGA Frisco is a lot closer to me so more likely to make that date if it's on a weekend, but the bandit course does look pretty cool and New Braunfels ain't that far of a drive from where I'm at in Dallas.

I guess the biggest question for everyone is, what dates work and how much notice does everyone think we need.  I'm willing to make some calls to work on getting something set up but my schedule is a lot more flexible than most.

I think sometime in the fall, like late October, would give us the best weather. The weekend of 10/26 might be perfect (if in Austin area) both weather-wise and avoiding a UT home game. For PGA Frisco, can't make tee times that far in advance unless you have a resort reservation.

Ideally, I would need at least a couple week's notice to make sure wife doesn't have conflicts. I am definitely not available in July or the weekend of October 12-13.

I agree with Duffer, I think sometime in Late September to October would be great, weather wise & scheduling wise. Plus, 10/26 is my birthday so I will never turn down scheduling a round on that day lol.

Whenever we choose a date, if we can set a date about a Month out, I think overall that should be enough time to get a good head count and allow for everyone to check schedules and mark it on their calendars. And I'd be good with a mid-week round, might make it easier to get a good price/Tee time as well.

We'd get our asses handed to us is how close it would end up being lol, but we'd atleast have a smile on our faces while it's happening.

Circling back, I propose two options for dates (assuming we want to play more than one round):

10/21-10/23  (arrive 10/21, play 22 and 23)

10/25-10/27 (weekend)

Can't book a place like PGA Frisco unless you do it as a stay and play. Nightly rates are over $400, so that would almost certainly lead to a veto from my wife. I think it would make sense to play a place like Bandit (as suggested above), or courses in the Austin area.

Let us know if either of those dates work (and preference if both). Maybe that will get the ball rolling.

I think we try to find some courses that don't necessarily have to do the stay & play. Typically these will be in a lot higher price range, but they will probably be the better courses. I'm ok with either way but some might not can afford the expensive stay.

I'm willing to help set up tee times and housing.

I could do 25 to 27 not sure about the other. Wow why would PGA frisco make it so you can’t play without doing a $400 a night hotel
