Letter to all Readers

Recommended Posts

Dear MyGolfSpy members,

To all of those who remember me, it has been a very long time. To those of you who don't remember me, I will go into a little detail of how exactly I became a part of this website. The purpose of this letter (I guess you can consider this a letter) is just to show everyone exactly what MyGolfSpy has done for me and my enjoyment of this great game. Plus, for those who have been around for more than a year, I think you deserve to know what the hell happened to me, and why exactly I disappeared from here.

For those of you who don't remember me, I joined the forum a year into my golfing career, when I was still excited to break 100. I was in high school and had all the time in the world when it wasn't football season. Back then, I worked at a golf course, got to play for free, and as mentioned, had all the time in the world. I was like most of you. I googled some things about golf that I wanted some advice on, googled product reviews, and I always ended up on this website. I posted every day, multiple times a day. I posted about all of my rounds, started book reviews, and basically talked about anything that came to my mind. One day, I opened my PM's and GolfSpy X had messaged me, saying that he had something that I might be interested in, and to give him a call. This was after I won member of the month, so I thought it had something to do with that. Little did I know that he wanted to make me a writer. I did product reviews and loved it, going to the course every day I could. When I went to college, I still worked at the golf course during my freshman year, so that summer I did as many reviews as I could. Then, my sophomore year began. My university is notorious for its workload, and that started to pile up. My school is in New York City too, which does not offer the most affordable golf courses (or a convenient way of bringing your equipment around). I finished my reviews for the summer and then went to school, where I was told that I would be taking the trip with the guys to Callaway HQ in Carlsbad. I had an amazing time there, and I would have to thank Tony, Matt, Dave, and Tim for putting up with me. It is definitely one of those trips I will never forget. After that, all hell broke loose. Workload piled up, I was working three unpaid internships, while trying to get out and do reviews. I became a broke college kid very quickly. I found some time last summer, and asked X if I could help out again. Being the nice guy that he is, he let me have a chance. That chance is why I have been embarrassed to come back. As soon as I got the product, I was offered the opportunity of a lifetime, and was completely booked. I finally found a little time to do the review, but in order to do that, I had to go to the closest course, pay an arm and a leg, and rush through the round. What happened? The damn product didn't work. I became so disappointed and became burnt out. I barely played any golf last year. Fast forward a year to now and this is the reason why I am writing this obnoxiously long letter. Right now, I have my own finance practice that is successful in New York City. As my own boss, I make my own schedule, which of course equals a lot of golf. I even have my own launch monitor (well, technically it's not mine and it's a simulator. My client owns one and put it at one of his stores and I have access to it 24/7). Plus, now that I have finished my junior year of college, my school work-load has decreased dramatically. Unfortunately, I am not with the website anymore ha-ha.

Now that everyone knows the complete story, I am going to get into the purpose of this letter. Like I said, I have been playing a lot of golf recently. I was smoking a cigarette on my porch today and I thought back to this website. Recently, I have been shaving strokes off my game and enjoying it more than ever. As I get closer and closer to reaching my goal of shooting a 79, I realized that every time I play there is something of that reminds me of this website. Whether it be a quick fix I do, a scenario I see, a joke I remember, or something that reminds of me that trip to Callaway. This letter is for the old and the new members alike, especially the younger golfers. This website is going to teach you more than any other website on the web. Not only that, you're going to remember those tips several years down the road. On top of that, you'll enjoy the game more, which is the real reason why we play. Plus, the free stuff doesn't hurt either. That's all from me guys. I hope you're all enjoying the game.

Keep Those Scores Low,
Frank

Great to have you back.  I know the feeling about not being on the site, I was away for a few months because of the snow and I feel like I missed a world of stuff.  But now, everything is back to normal and I love being back.
