  1. I do think that shafts are less interchangeable than lofts; to a point. By this I mean. if you find a shaft that works, stick with it. Lofts and utility are for conditions and course management, in my opinion.
  2. I think either is an option, but with the driving iron, you cannot switch out shafts. Personally, I went down that rabbit hole a couple of years ago and then I found the Fujikura Ventus. No swapping out anymore.
  3. I received the Linksoul Spring 21 catalog in the mail today and there is a number of articles of clothing in the colors referenced above. It's back in style, but is referred to a Buck, not mustard. Love it!
  4. This year has been odd. Being in Laramie, with elevation of 7200', the winters are always challenging, but Fort Collins, which is where our club is, has gotten more snow and the weather has just been crappy and cold. I know Casper well, as I used to travel there for work. I don't think I could live there.
  5. You and me both on the snow factor. The withdrawals are brutal this time of year. I wasn't able to get away today to sneak out and it's 58 in Fort Collins, CO. I can sneak away tomorrow and it's going to be 38 with flurries. ARGHHHHHH
  6. The 1980's called. They want their color scheme back. I have a pair of insulated pants in a similar color, so no room to talk here.
  7. I second this. Great article and was going to say the same thing.
  8. I too just read the entire thread and all I can say is "well done" There is a certain amount of gratification building your own set of irons. Enjoy them.
  9. My current setup is Driver, 14 degree 3 wood, and 18 degree 5 wood. I also have a 17 degree 2 iron and a 4 iron bent to 19 degrees. The 2 iron hasn't been in play since last spring and recently got a new shaft, but hasn't even been hit due to winter. The 4 iron is great for tighter holes off the tee. I am not crazy about the ball flight on the 4 iron from the fairway and on my home course, there are only one or two of the par fives that this even comes into play. I hit a fairway wood for position on par fives; with three of them being 600+ from the back tees, I'm rarely getting home in 2 anyway. I should add that hybrids are not my friend. They only go left for me. I am toying with this: Adding a 21 degree fairway wood to come in higher as opposed to the 4 iron. Our greens are big and while they hold well, not so much coming in lower. I can adjust the loft on the 3 wood to 16 degrees and since I hit it from the tee on only a couple of par 4's, I'm not giving up much. It's really too early to tell until I get on the course for the spring and see if this setup is viable. My initial thought is get a wedge in my hand on the par 5's and make 4. I do play a couple of tournaments on other courses, where the above setup could be applicable too. I'm curious to see other thoughts on setup.
  10. Yeah, it seems that there was a bit of a miss with the article. Seamus, Stitch, Links and Kings, and Rose and Fire were all omitted, unless that was by design to bring some focus to the smaller players. It has to be a challenge for these companies to get any traction with the PGA show being virtual this year.
  11. I will go on to add that a member was readjusted a few years ago from a 7 to a 3 for questionable scoring practices.
  12. Not that it makes a ton of difference, but why wouldn’t they just use the standardized handicap system, instead of attempting, poorly, I might add, to recreate the wheel. I thought this was part of the purpose of GHIN and the world handicap system. This is also why I stopped playing flighted tournaments at the club we used to be members of. I’d rather take my chances knowing that the +3 was going to destroy me as opposed to the 5, that managed to shoot 72 every time a tournament rolled around. Match play events were even worse. At least in the championship flight we played scratch. I will be curious as to how this year goes for me at a different club. I’m sure there will be some of the same issues, but the pro seems to be on top of things. Wait and see.
  13. I agree that the ferrule will melt, but hopefully your fitter will be cautious and go light on the heat. Graphite shafts will melt very quickly with too much heat. Whenever I pull graphite, even with adapters, I use a tension shaft puller and a heat gun, set on low. It takes a little longer, but the shaft doesn't melt and break. Nothing better than destroying the shaft you want to keep. Good luck.
  14. Well played sir! When we joined a new club early last summer, I was good with a tour of the back nine, as I had never seen it. My kids had multiple opportunities to play the front during PGA Jr. League, so I knew the layout. However, the first tee time I set up after we joined, the membership director took time out of his day to play a round with me. Great guy and we love the club. My wife and I have actually had conversations about a second house on property as we get a little older.
  15. I believe it is called plausible deniability.
  16. You may find that you move things around a bit too. I did, but I've had it a year and am settled in. I ended up not using the rangefinder pouch for the intended purpose and put tees in there instead. The only issue I've had is the plastic ball stencil lasted about one trip out of the back of my truck before it broke. Oops. If your version came with the cooler zipper pouch on one side, that's a great spot for things that you do not want wet. It seems to be waterproof both ways.
  17. Great looking bag. I have the cart version that fits on my push cart extremely well. I used Ping Hoofers for many years and found that there just wasn't enough space and Vessel solved that problem for me. Enjoy!
  18. What are you specifically looking for? I would need to check specifics, but I believe I have some that were pulled. Feel free to reach out directly and I will take a look in the meantime.
  19. For what this is worth, supply chain challenges are not isolated to a single industry. We have to purchase spirits from our state controlled distributor and they are running at about 20-25% out of stocks on warehoused items. Big brands, Bacardi, Crown Royal, Smirnoff, ETC. Times between shipments are running in the 45-60 day time frame and due to this, those of us who are paying attention are buying inventory accordingly, which in turn adds to the overall shortages. I'm glad I have the space to mostly order accordingly to what our customers look for. Specialty items are a different animal, but the issues are widespread. I expect supply chain issues to not be fully corrected for another year, based on what I'm seeing. Patience, they tell me.....
  20. My guy agreed with the idea that the forged offerings do look better and is putting together a back up set go CB301's for me, but is currently out of heads on a few irons.
  21. I agree about the forgings. I received an email from Miura this morning and was a little turned off. Makes me wonder if I need to call my guy and secure a set of back up irons before they go the way of the dinosaur. I was also a little surprised at the price going to $330/club MSRP.
  22. I think technology is only one aspect of making changes though. There has to be a comfort level and a trust level with your equipment to play your best golf. Bad days, weeks, months happen, but I know that I will not be putting a new set up into play going into the club championship.
