  1. Someone has been watching Looney Tunes with their children again. Funny.
  2. I second this. Nippon makes a putter shaft in .355 and it comes in 136 gr. and 149 gr. in raw weight. Both of these are heavier than True Temper, which I think is around 120 gr. raw weight. A heavier weighted putter shaft can reduce the swing weight of the putter in relation to the head weight, so it you want more head feel, a lighter shaft can accomplish this. The only way a putter shaft could go bad is if it was bent or had gotten moisture through the grip hole and rusted from the inside.
  3. Let us know how they fit. Like I mentioned above, I fear change........
  4. Take a look at the Maltby version. I mount it in my bench vise and it works well. Pricing is roughly the same. I would encourage a heat gun as opposed to a torch If working with graphite.
  5. I did a Pinehurst trip prior to the remodel of #4. We actually played #2 twice, along with #1( late afternoon round), #6, #8, and #9. #4 was closed due to weather damage and the remodel was announced the month after we were there. Breakfast in the Carolina lodge was exceptional if staying there. This was pre- cradle, but I am planning on going back for this. It helps to have people along that want to play. We played 36 a day for three consecutive days. Exhausting, but being that we were there, it made sense. A couple of tips with #2. Try and set it up as a replay round. It will save a bit. Second, be sure to take a caddie on #2. It’s worth the spend. We had two in our threesome and it was priceless.
  6. Mizuno, in my opinion, is worth a look. I bought the ST 190 G due to being able to hit it on a multi company demo day I attended. The rep didn’t have a line, so I thought I’d give it a go. He also had. Trackman set up, which was an opportunity I’d never gotten. Long story short, I bought the driver and it is still in my bag for year three. I picked up a ST200G as a back up and I haven’t put it in play. I had a couple of rounds in the late summer, early fall where I didn’t miss a fairway with my driver. Include that with when I do miss a fairway, it’s by a yard or two and I’m not tempted to go back to Titleist. It’s also plenty long.
  7. I think Drew just got the short straw on having to handle the majority of the MSG junkies. All fo the Titleist people I have ever interacted with were great. I was working a table at the Park City Food & Wine event a handful of years ago and the Western Regional rep at the time was attending and he wanted to horse trade bottles for golf gear. It was on day three of the event and the crowd was in rare form.
  8. Wow! We have collectively kept Drew very busy this week. Hopefully we have depleted his stash of balls.
  9. That doesn't include not being able to feel your hands or feet or head.
  10. So you had Drew as well. Good guy. He shared that in August he moved from the midwest to the Front Range and is actually about an hour from our club. We discussed ball flight at elevation and about his take on the Pro V1 was that it just flattens out and goes. The consensus ended up being to stick with the Pro V1 and to not even mess with the X. We discussed how for me, the V goes further off of the driver. He also mentioned that in theory, if hit the same way, the driver distance of the V and the X should be roughly the same, based on what the ball designers are aiming for. The fitting was a good experience and summed up what has been working for me.
  11. So true, sir! Can’t wait to see what I learn tomorrow.
  12. Again, I am thinking I'm in the same boat, and I hate clicky balls off of the wedges and putter. It messes with my distance control, reality or psychological. Am I a head case?
  13. That's great to know. I'm going into the virtual fitting with an open mind. About three times a year, I think, let's try the VX( I have some left over from a rep, and after about three holes, I'm kindly reminded why I don't like them and it is typically with a wedge in my hand. As we know, putting may me psychological, but it is also sound and perceived feel and I am likely to stick with the Pro V1. Thanks for the feedback.
  14. Wow...... That just sucks. Sorry to hear that.
  15. So I chatted with FJ customer service today, as the My Joys options are coming down to slim and none. I wear 11.5W and there is zero availability in all of the offering except the Icons. The cs rep told me that the Premiere lineup will be replacing the DryJoys and the Icons. My concern is that when I viewed the offerings on the MGS preview, wides were few and far between. AHHHHH. I asked as the website had indicated updates on 1-10-21. To no avail. Things are likely a little behind. He did mention that there should be a full lineup available even in Myjoys in February. I got a little jittery and ordered a pair of Icons for the closet. I hate it when items I have used for a decade go away. I'm all for innovation and am hoping the new releases are great. I struggle with finding shoes that fit exactly, and when I do, I hoard them.
  16. Good looking setup. Here’s to a great 2021 on the course, and off of it as well.
  17. Thanks to all for the input on the virtual fitting. Made an appointment for Jan. 13. I am excited to hear what the fitter has to say for me with regards to the left dash. I play the Pro V1 and have dabbled with the VX, but I found it to be too clicky off of my irons. It's really a feel thing for me, so we will see.
  18. I would even take things a little farther and say that you could in fact lose distance by going shorter with the driver shaft. Cnosil is correct in that weight does not equal flex. You could potentially benefit from a lighter shaft ( hypothetically, going to 50 gram from a 60 gram), but it still all comes down to contact in the center of the club face. As soon as winter clears, I am starting an experiment where I am going an inch longer on my driver shaft. My fitter suggested that I could gain up to 10 yards and maybe 2 mph in my driver. It remains to be seen, and the decision will really come down to dispersion. Good luck with this. Let us know how it goes.
  19. I play Modus 120s in my irons but play Modus 130s in my wedges. For me, it’s more about generating spin with flighting my shots. I play the ball back in my stance to help with this. I’m able to get the hop and stop I’m looking for and I’m typically looking to attack flags with a wedge in my hand. I would suggest talking with a fitter to see what they recommend. My fitter had me go heavier and builds my wedges with a 9 iron shaft cut to length. This isn’t a suggestion but it works well for me as I was having issues with my wedges ballooning when taking full swings. The kick points were a little different on the Modus wedge shafts so this was the solution we came up with. I know you mentioned you don’t hit full shots with your 56, so a fitter may have a better idea. I hope this helps a little. We’re all different in our approach.
  20. It's about economics and compartmentalization. Go to your favorite department store and drop $5 on a very absorbent bath towel that will actually hold water for four hours, or drop $25-$30 on a brand logo'd washcloth. I then make a point to replace them every year, as they lose their ability to hold water. Besides, I get scolded if I borrow bath towels from the bathroom.
  21. It is a great idea to take the driver and fairway heads off. I actually drop them back into my head covers and then zip them into a pocket of my golf bag. Additionally, I suggest inverting your putter into the body of your golf bag as well. It creates a little work once you arrive at your destination, but it also helps keep sticky fingers away. For whatever reason, I always manage to find a TSA inspection form in my golf bag upon arrival. Knock on wood, nothing has ever gone missing. The inspectors, I believe, are well intentioned, but things happen. That being said, I still make a point to use the stiff arm as an additional point of protection. It's even worth taking another step and if your bag has a rain hood, throw that on as well.
  22. I really miss metal spikes. Growing up in the northwest, it was necessity. I tried to find some Champ Stingers a while back just to give them a try and impossible doesn't even scratch the surface. I don't know the right people.
  23. Good for you!!!!, as I'm staring at snow and an email from our club stating that they will be closed until all snow comes off. Ahhh, winter in the Rockies.
