I will say that I honestly just realized that I don't know if I updated this point - thank you for asking!  I play midsize grips in all my clubs, and so blew those on the clubs the night before leaving for the outing we had in Virginia.
While I can't say it's 100% the grips, the difference in ball flight I was getting from the first swings was pretty amazing.  Admittedly, I had a) no glove on, and b) not properly warmed up before hitting them; but all that said, I had NO snap-hooks to the left the whole 4 days.  I DID still have a baby draw on them, with one that got a little leaky to the right, as well, but the vast majority were straight and strong (other than the one I topped and one I hit 8" behind the ball, lol).

So where in your bag does the 3 utility iron fit? What are its close neighbors? Did you replace another club specifically with it?

    Really good update @GolfSpy_APH!
It has really been an awesome year for test opportunities so far and hearing that more are coming.  Lots of chances for people to be picked, but please read and understand the guide…it is super helpful.
Again, these are not giveaways…they take a lot of work and effort to ensure the product is fairly tested.

Good morning! Workout logged and busy plugging away on several projects at work. I have several golf outings coming up over the next few weeks, and I'm getting pretty pumped up for how much I'll be getting to play in the next week! Friday I am taking some customers out, Saturday playing with buddies, Tuesday playing with a vendor, and Thursday playing with a vendor! I don't really care what happens as long as I make all four tee times. I hope everyone else's short term future is as bright and shiny as mine - go get some and make today great!

    belated good morning all.
still buzzing remembering all of the good times at the mygolfspy forum outing in Virginia. I had no doubt that all of the guys (and gals, Martha!) would be just as awesome in person as they are on here....like a great group of friends that can just pick up after not seeing each other for a while.
to encourage you even more to sign up for the next one I'll share with you a couple of the prizes that me and my buddy won (yes, there are prizes to win!)
First one was the big one. Rapsodo stepped up big time and sponsored the event and they had a MLM2pro launch monitor + a dozen of the Rapsodo/Callaway golf balls as the grand prize. As you might have seen in the live thread you had to predict your CARRY distances BEFORE you hit. Below were mine (these could be off by a little)
    PW - prediction... 123, actual 122.5
    7i - prediction... 142, actual 144
    Driver - prediction 242, actual 232
The winner was the person with the smallest amount of cumulative variance. As you can see I guessed pretty closely! Literally pays to know your distances. 😉
    And the prize:

Second was a closest to the pin challenge on a 157 yard par 3.
My buddy Ted ended up being the closest - ironically we were the first group through and I'm surprised it held.
He has some new Vokey's he's playing right now so has lent these to me to try out. (I knew I brought him for a good reason!)
The prize (Argolf 52 and 58 degree wedges with custom mygolfspy logo milled on the face!)

Sorry MIA the last week or 30. Hope everyone is doing good. I’m pages behind and not sure I’ll ever catch up with this thread, that’s a good problem to have.

had a guys golf trip last week. 20 of us in sunriver Oregon playing a Ryder cup style tourney. After the first day our team was down 1-4, second day 4-6, third day we pulled out the win. In my singles match I had give 3 dots to my opponent. I was 2 down after 4. 1 up at the turn 3 up after 11, 1 up after 13, closed him out 4-2 for the win.

Never touched my driver, 4 iron off the tee with a few 5 irons as well.

    Great time by all.

    have a great day

That is exactly where I stand right now.  Lots of interesting stuff, but a lot of "so what" to go along with it.  Kind of like knowing how many little computers are in the average Ford F150....

It's a bit weird how it's presented because it's about the difference in skill between players, not actual number of strokes themselves. The difference in skill between what makes the score of amateur golfers and what makes the score professional golfers, when it comes to putting, is only about 15% of the total score. One example he gives is that when it comes to two-foot putts amateurs and professionals are both so close to 100% that there is virtually no skill difference to report. This difference in skill gets bigger the further away from the hole we are and the greatest difference, as it relates to strokes gained and ultimately the differences in our scores, comes from ball striking.

I found the book incredibly interesting, but I haven't yet found it particularly useful.

My grandparents lived on what is now Golf Links Road. Many was the weekend afternoon we drove past HSCC (two courses) and I saw the golfers out there enjoying a weekend round. That experience was probably what planted the golf bug in me; my dad never played. Grandpa played (he was stationed in NC in the Army and occasionally played Pinehurst) when he was younger but by the time I came around he was solely a fisherman. When I was in college, I worked for the athletic department and one of my coworkers was the son of an HSCC member. He invited me to play HSCC one weekend. I don't remember much about that round except the dog holed a shot from the fairway for an eagle. But it was a nice course.

@GolfSpy_APH Jamie, Great update to the guidelines and what is expected of the testers, The information that has been provided is spot on and laid out in a way that is easy to follow. All of MGS Mods should be commended for everything they do to keep the site, testing's and everything else running smoooooooth.
Can't wait to submit my hat in the ring again for a test that I'm curious about and put into play.

Great write up and description…appreciate all of the effort that goes into this forum and testing overall.  It is an amazing opportunity and while I am disappointed to not get selected for the “big” tests, I am happy for those that do.  All have provided excellent feedback and have been worthy of their selection.
    You all are awesome!

Ive not once seen any sort of aggression here or belittling even on questions or posts that have been seen before.  Hell one of my first posts was a pet thread or something that I derped and didnt see first.  Everyone is beyond chill here.  This is funny as golf is one of the most infuriatingly challenging sports out there 🙂

Jamie nailed it.  OEM’s rely upon Mods to select testers based upon credibility and reliability.  Especially when it comes to your ability to tell a relatable story that documents your experience.
