Nice on closest to the pin. I hit it to 5 ft on that and was in 3rd at that point.

If you aren’t fit for your shaft and head combo there’s a good chance that you will have to compensate in the swing and fight the club to get what you want out of the shot.

having the righr shaft for your swing and the head you have will give you a chance to hit better shots more consistently

Two options do a bunch of self testing with your driver and other shafts and see what works, this could be taking your driver to somewhere like pgasuperstore and try different shafts, or buy some and try them. The second option is find a reputable fitter and get fit. This is usually going to be the easier route.
To an extent ignore flex. There’s no standard in the industry and a stiff in some brands could play better for you than x stiff in other brands. Something like the gradfalloy shafts play stiffer than their stamped flex. PX hzrdus shafts play stiffer than their stamped flex

... I play my driver at 45". I know what that feels like at address. When I have a fitting I just choke down to 45". Only one fitter I worked with in the last few years said anything when I choked down. But when they all wrote down the specs I always told them I play my driver at 45".

I for one am glad to see the discussion on driver shaft length, as someone else who just discovered the pros play a significantly shorter average length than the retail clubs in the store. I’d like to ask a fitter about this next time. Though they may not commonly have different shaft length options.

As these things tend to do, I received an update on the shipping of the replacement head just now, after I gave my update. The tracking now shows the head being delivered on Friday 3/29. So a day earlier than the original estimate, which admittedly is better than a day later. So I’ll take it.

That’s at least some good news, hopefully the weather will hold for you so you can get back out there with the Qi10.

This I will have to agree with 100%. I can't use the Srixon Divide halfway line for putting. The dual colors along my putting line just pesters my head. Don't get me wrong the Divide is one of my favorite balls. They give great spin around the green feedback and there is never ever a question as to which ball in the long grass next to the green is mine.
On a ball durability front my Tour X #4 has now been through 4.5 rounds. Maybe 10 bunkers, no cart paths, and I hit a tree today. The ball is now going into the found ball bucket. The tree did a number on it and it is just showing its age...

So, on the alignment front, I find the ALIGN technology is VERY easy to line up for putting and full shots than the Tour Response and the Triple track (for me). I believe that is the primary idea. It is not as easy to see the "true-ness" of the roll via the align technology once the ball is rolling as it is with the Tour Response. I don't believe Maxfli cares as much about that and frankly I don't either. But if you are practicing and want to see how straight the ball rolls, there are better balls for that. Many people may like the subtleness of the alignment on the Maxfli because it is not nearly as distracting as the Tour Response or the Srixon Divide balls. Just my two cents.
Also, I shot a career low round (again!) at a different course. A -1 (71) in 10-15 mph winds so the ball held up great (both in the wind AND from a durability standpoint). A few highlights from the round if you will indulge me...
Never taken this line before on this hole but was feeling confident and just barely pulled it off.

Also, squeezed driver into this spot whereas I normally layup short due to OB on both sides...

Overall, an amazing round and consistent distances and shapes out of the Maxfli Tour X. For a ball that spins as much as it does I am starting to see what people mean when they say "spin is control". It does what I want, I was getting 5 irons to stop 3 yds past their pitch mark on dormant bermuda greens. It was wild.

It’s the Callaway Paradym that I got to re-test. So far I’ve gotten to play 8-12 rounds this year with it and it’s money! Thanks again MGS and @GolfSpy_APHfor that opportunity! Also check out my review in my signature if you don’t mind. Let me know what you think.

Sure is - one of the original 1000. My brother found it a few years ago and got it for my birthday - still need to pick a good spot to put it on display.

Hi, my name is Mike, and I'm a club ho. It's been only two days since my last club delivery... and then this one showed up like 3 weeks early.
Did I need a new putter? No. Did I even try it before buying it? Also no. Is it going to be my last putter purchase this year? (Probably) No. Ok, so which putter are you getting rid of now that you have this new one? It doesn't work that way...
Got the AI-One Cruiser Jailbird. For no reason at all, other than...I want one. Resisted the temptation to buy those special release versions after Rickie and Wyndham called so much attention to them, but caved on the AI-One. And it's niiice - only hit a few putts on the BirdieBall so far, but early signs point to it being in this year's rotation.

    That brings the lineup to:

ZackS reacted to mpatrickriley in Unofficial Review: Power Shift Board
This week, I should be taking delivery of a new training aid: the Power Shift Board. For those who are interested in such things, weight shift boards are nothing new. We have one thread about them here and one example of a homemade version here. I have also made a DIY board (no surprise to longtime members here); I'll try to get a picture uploaded to this thread.
But I went ahead a purchased this version of the training aid for a few reasons. It was discounted (always important). The second reason is that it is different from a basic teeter-totter; this one has a spring-loaded "foot" on the front side.

This does two things: it clicks audibly when engaged (meh; I could tell when the front of my board hit the floor), but it also supplied resistance. In general, I favor training aids that actively resist you making the correct move. Some training aids force you to make the correct move, others assist you to do some. Some are neutral, but provide feedback as to whether you have made the correct move. But trainings aids that push you in the "wrong" direction, I have found, are best for giving those lightbulb moments: "Oh, that's what I have to do to make that move!"
So I think this is an intriguing tweak on a simple concept.
The final reason that I pulled the trigger on this is that a couple of lines of evidence have convinced me that pressure shift is something I need to work on. My coach has noted my tendency to simply spin out on my front foot, instead of using the ground productively. And when I do Stack workouts, my "step" swings tend to be slower than my normal swings. At best, this suggest a profound lack of coordination; I'm not taking proper advantage of the step, which likely suggests that in my "normal" swings, I'm also not using the ground well.
So when this board arrives (midweek, I think), I'll do a little unboxing and keep everyone posted as to whether this particular board offers enough advantages to make it worth consideration.

Truthfully most of the differences in blade length are only noticeable when comparing side by side. When just trying in a shop or by themselves I don't feel many will really notice that big if a difference.

I’m looking at moving into more of a Player’s Iron having previously been in the Player’s Distance category for a number of years.
Without boring you on the details of my swing progression, I’ve really been putting in the work and my requirements are very different now.
After a succession of positive visits to my pro Mike, he said “you’re not the same player now. You don’t need a 7 iron that acts like a 5 iron.”
His reasoning was that whilst my numbers are “all in the blue lines” the thing I need is spin - or rather, consistent spin results.
My problem - and it’s definitely a me problem - is when I look down at some of the irons in this category I get a bit spooked by the shorter heel to toe length.
I’m not fussed about the topline or face height - but I don’t want to sacrifice all the forgiveness all at once. I find the middle of the face a lot, but I’m also a realist. I’ll take the help.
The metric for forgiveness is very subjective but I’m just gathering opinions at this point. As with all my golf purchases, I will invest time and effort comparing and testing and dragging my feet as I hope to put these in the bag and use them till the chrome wears off.
I asked a question on here previously about this and got lectured about improving my swing 🤦‍♂️ . Well I have 😆 So what irons would you say I should be giving serious thought to?
The only clubs I’ve seen in lefty so far are the Callaway Apex assortment, Ping’s latest offerings and Taylormade’s.
