Have really been trying to improve lately by hitting pitch shots, wedges and short irons every day.  This morning was the absolute worst I've done with 40-50 yard pitches in the last few weeks; same with hitting 100 yd wedge shots - so frustrating.

Played TN National Saturday; had my best driving round in a while with hitting half the fairways and a couple over 300.  Short game is still killing me from 50 yds and in; easily gave away 6 strokes.  It's also very frustrating laying up on par 5's from 270 hitting 9i then 56 wedge because I have no control or confidence in my 3W.  Shot 92 so pretty average round for me; but good time with friends.

Played my first Vet Golf Assoc. tourney this last weekend; which was also my first time playing an actual tournament that wasn't a scramble.  Fairly short but tight course, and I sucked.  7 penalties, only a couple GIR; but did get a birdie.  53 on the front, 47 on the back for a nice even 100.

Been working on my irons a fair amount the last couple of months. It is really starting to pay off - last two (nine hole) rounds, my strokes gained for approach was positive. And, generally just hitting the ball a lot better. I've noticed that my miss tends to either be a pull or a hard draw. I know that I need to work on not flipping my hands. I also need to work on "swinging right," which my instructor told me to do two months ago.
So, yesterday got out and hit some irons. Focused on not flipping and swinging right. What a difference! Hitting the ball generally on the line I want, very few pulls, and no hard draws. Will continue to drill those two components.
My driver play has been mediocre as of late. Plan to do some work on that in the weeks upcoming.

Anyone else download the courses for the Majors, then use the preview caddie to see where'd you'd likely be playing from or hitting to?  Golf broadcasts can be a bit boring, this makes it a bit more interesting for me (and shows me how much I suck)
