Hey Spys,
Since I am back on the course, I just wanted to say I would be open to joining anyone who is lookin to play in the Austin area. I also have family down in San Antonio, so coming back home to SA is always possible too!
I am all about having the FUN part of the game. I dont look at my score card to much, makes me start to lose my fun.
Hit me up if youre lookin to play.

How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score? Have been playing for about 7 years. But just got back to playing after a 3 yeas hiatus from having my daughter. Handicap is probably around a 20 when my game is "on"ish.

What do you love about golf? Unplugging from everything. I am always chasing that "Perfect" shot. You know the one I am talking about? The swing feels good, your contact felt perfect. When the club connected with the ball, you could feel the core of the ball through the club and into your hands........ Errrrrr. Sorry, I got carried away.

What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies? Was around in the beginning with MGS. So I felt the need to reintroduce myself now that I am out playing again, or at least trying to.

Where are you from? What is your home course? Am in Austin Texas, and play Bluebonnet the most.
-
What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? Best is the variety of courses. Worst, the courses that allow the Texas scorching sun to kill the grass and dont adjust water accordingly.

What do you do for a living? I am a Facilities Manager.

How’d you pick your user name? Combined my most common score with where I play most of my second shots from!

Played Sunday for my birthday. First time since the baby was born that I had a chance to actually pick up the sticks and do damage. Played a short 9 hole course. Very short. 3 par 4's and 6 par 3's. All said and done, I shot 9 over. Not by any means a stellar outing.
Tempo is way off. Really have to slow back down and concentrate on grip and turning my torso as opposed to my arms. Had a few shots that made me remember what I enjoy about playing.
The course, on the other hand, was the WORST time I have ever spent attempting to play golf. I didnt think it was the proper place here to vent, so I will see if there is another place it should go.

Welcome my friend! It is great to have an ever-growing international member base. I am hoping to come to Italy sometime in the next year.
Enjoy your trip to the Championships.

Picked up a pristine set or R-11 irons the day after my daughter was born. Hoping to get out the the practice facility soon and see what they can do in my hands.

How is it on fast greens?
i found it almost too fast on faster greens. I don't know if it was the density of the club that transferred more energy to the ball on hits or just my perception.

Ok gang, so as you may know, I was in a putter dilemma. That's no longer a problem. So the wife says I gotta get rid of at least one of my putters. So instead of getting rid of the Ghost which is in my bag right now. I am getting rid of the Rife Cayman Brac. The guy i got it from played it two rounds before his wife bought him a Method. I have played it 6 rounds. I just don't have the skill yet to be as accurate as I originally thought I was.
It is in great shape and has a Winn grip on it. No blemishes. Almost as it was, the day it was made.
I dont want to make anything off of this. I paid the guy 40 bucks for it. That's all I want plus shipping.

After a postal delay, I FINALLY have my new MannKrafted. LaMont knocked it out of the park too. I asked for an MA/66 with a longneck, a soundslot and specified the loft and lie and told him to leave the weld bead on the neck. Asked for a siteline too. Then I told him I wanted it sent unshafted and RAW because I'm going to do my own finish on it. It's getting a new technique I'm testing tomorrow on another head then if it looks and does like I want it to, I'll be doing the finish on the MA/66. I'm going to soften a few spots just a little more, but the only direction I gave LaMont other than the specifics on the head was that I wanted the zip code stamp in the cavity. Told him to go nuts on the rest of the stamping with whatever he wanted. He KO'd it.
DUDE!
That thing is SICK! Cant wait to see your finished product!

Got out in my galoshes today. Played a little nine hole course up in Taylor. With my recent issues driving off the tee, I started the day leaving my Driver in the bag. played my 3 off the tee most of the day today. Cart path only, and another storm fron on the way had me thinking i would have most of the course to myself. WRONG. Everyone was trying, like me, to get in as many holes as possible before the rain.
Ended up getting paired with a father and son playing best ball. Nice people and very encouraging. Am really beginning to enjoy my 3 wood which used to give me fits. Was convinced to pull the driver twice. Samurai Sliced the hell out of the first one, and pulled a rabbit out on the second (both on par 5s) knocking it a little over 250 and in the middle.
My short game is atrocious right now. My pitching is nonexistent. Found myself reverting to chipping shots that most would pitch. Also pulled the Rife putter from my bag and putting the Rossa back in. Much better results.
Also this was first game played with the Game Golf Hardware. Really liked it. Didnt tag two shots during the round. Computer showed them to me and it was very obvious what clubs were used for the shots. All in all, a pretty decent round, for me. One birdie, three pars, 2-singles, 2-doubles, and a triple.

Played hooky today and got in a round at Bluebonnet with jdiddyesquire. Rain last night made the course a little slower than normal.
Winds were a mild factor too. We both were playing to our handicaps, hitting some missing others.
By far, the shot of the day was on 15:
Dogleg left, uphill, green hidden from teebox by trees and bushes. I hit my standard, slice and landed about 115 out from green. Jdiddyesquire proceeds to pull out a 5 wood, takes aim at a green he has never seen and rips it. Ball shoots out like a lazer and winds through trees, landing in the greenside bunker at about 240. After hitting my second, I head to the green where J is already in the bunker. Then like Bubba at the HSBC last year, J blasts out of the sand and rolls it 14 yards to drop in the cup like it was under remote control.
It was beautiful.
On my side of the card, played mostly bogey golf today. My only highlights being a solitary 308 yrd drive and a birdy on 18 after sticking my 2nd shot 18 inches out from the pin.
Overall a pretty nice day.
Can we feature YOU???

I was deployed to Afghanistan in 2003. While I was in country, I was on board a CH-47 that went through a rough landing. My back was injured and I was flown to Germany and then to Ft Sam Houston. I underwent several procedures to get my back into working order. When I was preparing to be released for the final time, the doctor handed my a file with a couple hundred sheets of paper. I asked what they were and he said exercises that I would need to do to help my back. I asked for how long and he said, "forever".
I asked if there were any other options. He asked if I played golf. I said I had played about 2 times in my entire life. He said that playing a round a week was his best recommendation if I wasn't going to do all of the exercises. I thought it was a great idea. I even had the Doctor talk to my wife on the phone when I told her my "prescription" was going to be a set of golf clubs and weekly visits to the golf course!
To this day, my back feels pretty good!
