  1. Thanks to @jlukesfor making me think of this thread. With so many new members coming on board it is often oldie, but good threads like this get forgotten or lost, but they are great ways to learn a bit about some of the members here and share your own stories. I've gone from Danbrook (last name) to Apolloshowl (link to my pup Apollo's howl below) and now GolfSpy_APH. Which is just short for Apolloshowl. When I decided to change to Apolloshowl there were a lot of life things going on. Apollo has been my best bud for going on 8 years now and simply brings so much joy. Even though we have 3 dogs now he is still my shadow and my comfort. I have a wonderful wife who is incredible and when Apollo took to her so quickly I knew she was a keeper. Therefore it was easy to dedicate my name to him and for anyone who has read any of my reviews you will be able to spot pictures of him in the background or in the case of my strokelab review he was in the middle of the mat while trying make my videos! Either way moving to a GolfSpy tag it was a easy choice to stick with him. He is also the name of all my fantasy teams and the abbreviated form is APH. IMG_0890~2.mp4
  2. I will admit it has been forever and a day, but a cracked out the sticks and am committing to a reup on the protocols. Although I have had time per say, life has just come very fast and with so much going on I'll be honest motivation was lacking and well several other things outside of golf and my golfing game have taken priority. That being said here are my numbers from the session. I did a basic warm up of lawnwork and pulling weeds with a little fetch with our dalmation before putting her inside to watch me go at it again (I would leave her out, but honestly terrified of her coming too close by accident) Initial Swing: 112 mph (Apparently I haven't missed a beat) Green Dominant: 121 Green Non Dom: 116 Blue Dominant: 118 Blue Non Dom: 107 Red Dominant: 113 Red Non Dom: 103 Green Post Max: 128 Driver Post: 114 Few things I noted, my head is moving a lot and honestly as I'm writing this my neck is a little sore. Time to do some video to see whats going on exactly... either way that is not something I want to continue. Outside of that swing felt good and maybe a little on the long side.
  3. I think my answer for my unicorn club will ring true of many. I have a stock Fuji shafted Cobra F7 3/4 wood. I do have it in a 7 wood back in Canada too. Since the day I picked it up new it has been a go to club. I have used it for my best rounds ever and overall the club is just magic. I know there are several others out there with the same club and for many Cobra got this club perfect. Brought back the rails, great shape and some colors with a awesome feel.
  4. At least i know I was close on the offer! ... If it was mine that you are talking about.
  5. Week 19: Palmetto Championship at Congree Another week in the books. A field that was a bit weaker in strength of field, but some great excitement on a course I would love to go sometime. Another new winner this season on tour with South African Garrick Higgo taking home the title at -11 followed by a slew of guys at -10. Congrats to him and looking forward to his exciting future in the sport! We have I believe a first time high scoring team of the week in @Golfermarcusleading the field by just over 12 points with 181.75. Vegas, Redman and Piercy were his leading players with 2 getting over 60 and Piercy with just over 40. Impressive performance considering only 3 made the cut. For the first time in several weeks that means we had no teams crack the 200 barrier, however it was to be expected with teams opting to hold onto player in the lead up to the US Open. Our undefeated teams of the week are below. @revkev happy to see you get a undefeated week after our trade involving English. @blackngold_blood Leads the way alone for the first time in a little while as well having gone 9-1 this week (take a guess at who he lost to hehe). However he is still 3 games clear, but for the first time we are seeing some real separation up top with only 3 teams within our 10 game bench mark. With bonus points, fewer weeks left each win is going to mean something and will help shape the overall playoff picture. Now that we have the top 15 picture sorted lets take a look at the mid field and cutline picture. Lots of solid teams and in a change from last week most all the teams that above the cut line are above .500 (last week we had a good few under). Several of these teams I have seen active on both waivers as well as trading trying to position themselves up to make the playoffs and make a dark horse run at the championship. This was a week where we would see a bit more movement on the overall standings with some teams not able to field a full team or opting to hold onto players for the US Open. It meant some of the bigger named teams would have struggled a bit and others who had either mid tier depth or room to pick up several players could make some jumps in the standings. I don't know if we have more weeks like this, but I know they can be tough and make for challenging decisions with how your roster is constructed. This was also reflected in our League median at mearly 53.45.... I mean there are 8 players on the waivers who were available and got more. Easily our weakest of the season. This was largely lead by 8 teams which scored under 10 points, however most of these teams it was due to roster positioning and having depth to keep leading into this week and the rest of the season. As expected we had a lot of good players available on the waiver wire, again this is no surprise with how this event is placed ahead of the US Open and the field which it had. However most of the players available were still rostered by at least 1 team and in the case of our winner Higgo 3! (good pick up @ChiefMikeOfficer, @Mtbryant01, @Jhigdon13) With 2 still being available how much will the hot hand go for? Seeing more being spent on waivers and budgets slowly dwindling down and that FABB being worth more and more as we close in on the end of the season. With week 19 in the books now we can move on and look forward to the US Open. A favorite major for many and one at a course we all are likely somewhat familiar with (pretty sure Golfholics have 5 or more course vlogs there). With a deep field and most all the big names including Rahm officially being there it will be a great test and a fun event to watch and the return of Wolff! Wish everyone the best of luck and thanks once again for following along.
  6. There are some who are Wednesday morning. Forget who, but I went and added a few to my list and they were put on a separate Wednesday run. Not a big deal, but worth looking at for this week. I know I had the same thing with Cameron Davis weeks back.
  7. Or have the mind games begun... He may be playing at a whole other level then us.
  8. Thank you I was wondering the same... Although I thought it was Tuesday or Wednesday waivers?
  9. Yes, as soon as the lineups are locked at whichever time Thursday you are free to drop players and will still get credit for them. Same goes for trades that happen during the weekend. Your lineup is set as of Thursday and from there on Free Agents can only be picked up after waivers have run and you can drop however many players you like and still get their points. I did the same with Sneds... would have preferred to try and trade him, but wasn't sure I would get much value. This way you can add players into your waiver priority and not have to worry about who you are dropping them for.
  10. Come playoffs anything can happen and there is still lots of weeks left for people to drop/climb the standings. Also a good 6 weeks before the trade Deadline. It's also a little easier to tell which players are trending in the right direction too.
  11. In fairness to the Glover pickup he had been trending in the right direction and playing well. The same went with Whaley... he had 5 of his last 7 events top 30 and he other 2 were top 36 and yet he missed the cut. Sometimes it just happens and players have bad weeks. I was going hard to try and get brooks for this weekend and he ended up missing the cut and I ended up with English instead who has played really well. In the end it is just the rub of the green!
  12. Always fun to hit gold on the waiver, but really is a crap shoot a lot of the time. I have my bids in for next week and found who i like, but none of them are so good I'll be dropping a lot of my budget on. Hopefully with my 6/7 I have in the field will be good enough and thst last spot or two will be my wild card hit and hope player(s).
  13. Going off the last question is there a green type you prefer or feel the putter is better suited towards? For the Strokelab i certainly preferred greens medium to slow and felt I had better control. On really quick greens the insert/club just didn't quite as well. Still made plenty of putts but my confidence was higher on the medium to slower greens. Wondering if these have any similar characteristics or may be more suited towards faster greens?
  14. Interesting... The foxes i have come across have been pretty playful even with our dogs or really shy. Bet getting back to sleep was fun!
  15. This has been a tough week so far.... In the top 15 for points scored this week I thankfully sit in 3rd, but I have matchups against 1,2,7,12 making it a little difficult to say. Thankfully I have all 4 of mine make the cut, although fleetwood was bleeding strokes throughout the round I feel he will bounce back and Sneds has been my Mr. Reliable pickup making another cut. VS @blackngold_bloodHe has the leader in Hadley and DJ as well as Sneds so its a my 3 of Hatton, English, Fleetwood vs his 2. @chipstrokes has 4 into the weekend as well with none of the same players as me so it will be close. @MattBFG and @juspoole both dropped a player or 2 so it is looking more promising, but with bonus points and top 25/10/5 finishes they are still in the mix. Either way a exciting weekend of golf lies ahead!
  16. I have been following along, but can't remember specifically if anyone has really mentioned this. Are you playing mainly the same course or are you trying to get to different courses to see how the putter and your stroke reacts to different greens and conditions you may not be as comfortable to?
  17. Thanks all, it has been a lot of fun to be here and take part in way too many different threads over the years. Can't quite believe I even hit 2k, seems like way way too many, but time certainly does fly and apparently so do the posts!
  18. Yup they have done a pretty good job at fixing things after they have bugged out. I mean given the size and overall uniqueness of our league they do a really good job and the issues we have come across are usually minor. The more years we have spent on them with fantasy golf the more I have enjoyed the platform and its capabilities as well as layout.
  19. Rather then starting a new thread I will just add another post as I (finally) hit 2000k posts! Granted well over 10% of them are in Fantasy Golf, but still a cool milestone that I have been tracking since I started this one. Thank you all for following along and reading the content I have put out for better or for worse and just happy to have this community to reach out to for not only golf, but life and so much more! Of course it couldn't be a celebration post without my main pup and one of my favorite rounds of golf. Cobra Connect 4 club Challenge with Apollo. Got through 8 holes 1 under, followed by a double and a great stretch for 4 more and another double. In the end was a great round and had the best caddie ever!
  20. This is a going to be a great thread with I am sure a lot of great ideas that come from it. That being said I am having a hard time pinpointing anything specific... that could be in part is that over the years their articles and content has covered so much of what I would like them to speak on. At the same time I would love to know more about how the last year has changed golf for us regular golfers. I know numbers have gone up a lot in participation, stock is back logged like crazy across almost ever OEM as well. However what about other new things that have come to golf because of these changes. TXG is doing a push on virtual fits, will that start to become more of a trend and how accurate can they potentially be? Do we see more people walk courses because of some of the restrictions that were in at the time and what other on course things are likely to stay? Raised cups, ball washers being removed and all that which I noticed in Canada and is still there for many.
  21. We are currently about 20 weeks into the season right now. I don't believe there are any teams available to take over at the moment either. That being said feel free to ask any questions and stay tuned for next season as well as Fantasy Football if that is of any interest to you.
  22. For all those looking to make a deal leading up to the US Open, I am putting Fleetwood/English and Sneds (he isn't playing at the major sadly) on the block in a 2/3 for 1 or 2 deal. Not looking to add any other of my rostered players right now and am fine with holding onto them through next week, but want to see whats out there for offers. feel free to send offers in!
  23. Rather then saying yes or no they are or are not in a black and white sense I will ask this and I am not sure how much this has to do with the actual topic of bifurcation, but could it be more sport dependent? I say this because in curling (yes a more personal example) since its introduction into the olympics and with a lot more money involved players have truly become athletes. A focus on not only mental, but physical traits and ability have increased significantly and its very easy to tell the difference between curlers from early 2000's to now just in appearance. Golf I personally believe is similar. Not say before they were not fit or capable years ago, but the build of the typical modern day player has certainly changed. Golf will always be a sport with all body types will be seen and all sorts will also have success. I do think physically fitness is more valued now then before... that or back in the 90's and such their clothing was just that bad with the baggy pants there was no way to tell who was in good shape? haha Side note as well, many members would be surprised at the similarities between golf and curling in terms of the paths they have followed, gap in skill between elite and club members, evolution of the game, performance of equipment impacting the game and so on.
  24. I think this could be a great club and do wish the rails had stuck around, but maybe it won't matter much? I believe it was F6 before rails came back. I only say that because I have a F7 3 wood and it has the rails and F6 did not. Really doesn't matter though, and looking forward to seeing how anyone hits this finds it and maybe there after Cobra will bring out one in LH a year or so down the line. That seems to be a trend with them. They will make a "new club" in RH only and after a year or two once it has gained traction and will be a staple in their lineup a LH version comes out. See MIM irons, Driving Irons and several other woods. I will give them credit they have brought out a lot more LH kit which has been awesome to see!
  25. Although I can do a lot of sports right handed (I am right handed) swinging sports I have always done lefty, it is more of an eye dominance thing then actual physical ability. Superspeed helped a right handed swing as well, plus I played field hockey they only make right handed sticks so I had to adjust. I can putt right handed just as well as left handed too, but I don't see myself pulling a TC and switching to RH... golf for me is hard enough LH that I don't need to make it more difficult and the additional clubs that could be purchased would both not help my game or my bank account.
