  1. They are good irons and i don’t think they go any higher than other clubs in my limited time with them. The amount of height a ball gets is going to depend on the golfer. They are somewhat expensive but based on what I’ve seen while doing some club shopping the difference for 7 clubs for these compared to 7 clubs from other brands is only $2-300 which imo isn’t all that much in the long run of club ownership. Let the fitter do his/her thing and see what happens with these. If you don’t like what the results are then you have the assurance that they aren’t for you and you can look elsewhere
  2. The shaft being the engine is a myth. The shaft does two things. It’s for the weight and feel. From Tom Wishon Shaft Myth #1 – The shaft is the engine of the golf club If I had a dollar for every time I have heard this statement, I might not be rich, but I definitely would be able to go to a nice restaurant and enjoy a good dinner with a good bottle of wine! It is far more truthful to say that “the golfer is the engine,” while “the shaft is the transmission of the golf club.” A shaft does not create energy during the swing. It is simply the component that takes the energy generated by the golfer and transmits it to the clubhead to hit the ball. It is true that if certain elements of the shaft are not properly fit to the golfer’s specific swing characteristics, the golfer can lose distance by experiencing a lower clubhead speed or more off-center hits than he could generate from using a correctly fit shaft. At the same token, if the shaft is accurately fit, the golfer has a much better chance of fully optimizing his/her potential to hit the ball to the best of their ability. Performance wise, the shaft, 1) can affect the dynamic loft of the clubhead at impact within a narrow range of 2 to 3 degrees, but only for those golfers with a later to very late release; 2) will chiefly control the total weight of the club, which in turn can have an effect on the golfer’s clubhead speed, 3) can affect some golfers’ (not all) confidence and swing consistency by displaying a “bending feel” during the swing that is either more preferred or less preferred by the golfer. That’s it, that’s the full list of what the shaft can do.
  3. GolfTec and club champion will put you in stock offerings if you tell them that’s what you want. All the large manufacturers and some brands like PXG and New level have about the same amount of options. The problem is most also lack the inventory on certain shafts due to supply chain issues. You can go on tgw and see all the available options for all the brands without having to go to each individual company website
  4. Wouldn’t be the first set of regular stiff shafts not fit for me that I played in irons
  5. Exactly. The panic over the shortage actually stated in the summer of 2021 when people were posting information they were getting from reps. Early fall the impacts were already being seen in stores and from sales on oem websites. Kind of old news at this point
  6. Obviously these are going to be things some people consider and there are things that are going to be player dependent but thats not what the question is. Its simple people will post their distances either based on launch monitor, on course measurements or something like and arccos. They will then say they have a gap if there’s some discrepancy they find to be too big. So the question is for the people who have posted these type of posts/threads how are they measuring their distances for the gap? Are they comparing their driver off the tee while comparing fw off the deck?
  7. There’s literally an entire internet full of instructors. One can type in a simple search on search engine of choice and type golf instructors near me or in whatever city. Golf digest puts out a list of top instructors, top young instructors Not to mention apps like skillest that has a bunch of instructors along with many having sample videos of lessons, sample videos about drills and some have their philosophies listed. Along with their pricing structure
  8. Here’s a goo short video. Jake has lots of good content that demonstrates feels and movements.
  9. Something I’ve seen periodically across golf forums and other groups js comments/questions about gapping issues between driver and fairway wood for some people. The comment usually is I have a gap issue between driver and 3w, or how do people gap fit from driver to fw. In my bag setup I’ve never worried about the distance between my last fw and driver other than to make sure they don’t go the same distance. My fairway woods are set up to give me a distance gap from my hybrid or longest iron or to get max distance of going for a gap longer than what I would need long Pat 3s for the courses I play. The gap is based on off the deck shots and not off a tee. For those who have posed the question before or are looking for that type of gapping question/issue. What are you basing the gap on? Is it off the tee or are you looking at how far your driver goes off the tee and how far you hit your longest wood off the deck?
  10. So you were fit for a certain length but want to go with something different? I don’t see why in your OP. The TM mini driver is also a smaller head than the Callaway driver so it’s not only shorter but smaller. As to the question about. Outside of Ping, it’s somewhat of a crap shoot on whether an OEM will match the swingweight requested or by request of shorter shaft. They all pretty much say they will try but there is no guarantee. Has you have notes from your reading you have probably seen some post theirs were done to requested swing weight or it was adjusted based on their length request while others have had issues with it being off. The chances that they will adjust lie is pretty low
  11. Here is a photo of someone with higher club head speed than OP and a response from a top instructor about the data. See the 2/3 up part of the comment
  12. Need more information. What driver were you fit too? Did the output from the fit say it was ventus with velocore or just ventus (also I don’t know if the system distinguishes) The blue 5R non velocore is a Callaway made for shaft and isn’t really available after market and definitely isn’t going to cost $300+. If it’s the velocore version then for most of the OEMs that’s an upcharge shaft and is less than the $300+ Aftermarket except for titleist.
  13. Your advice is bad advice. You say his problem is that he doesn’t have enough AoA for his swing speed. That’s not true, as I stated there are pros and if you read other forums there are golfers with similar swing speeds that get more carry and take advantage of that speed with a lot less than 6-7° AoA. They all deliver at least the stated loft of the driver. 6-7° up is extreme and you would be hard pressed to find an instructor who would say it’s not because of the potential problems it could cause. That much angle of attack for the vast majority of golfers means they are coming too far in to out. That’s going to lead to people have a a push to push fade, over draw/hook or a two way miss. The Op has a 9.5° driver and based on manufacturer tolerance that could be anywhere from 8-11° of loft. So he’s offering anywhere from 1-4° less loft than the club is at. He needs to find a way to deliver more loft at impact not more AoA. Whether that’s trying a higher lifter driver to avoid the issues already covered by everyone in replies to the op about what happens when the loft is adjusted on a driver via the adapter. Or he needs to find a a way to change the loft he delivers at impact by not delofting the driver
  14. There are pga tour pros with similar swing speed that get plenty out of 2* aoa and even lower.
  15. Especially when many are equating feel to the sound. And these are all good comparison irons as well as pxg
  16. West both about the same although ive bought more spiked shoes lately.
  17. Next month. If PXG sticks to their normal pricing structure these are going to be significantly mode expensive than the srixons. The gen4 will probably drop some in price
  18. Club champion is hit or miss. You will find better fitters with TruSpec. You will be hitting towards a range and can see ball flight. Only downside to TruSpec that I can think of is they don’t fit stock offerings so everything will be upcharged shafts.
  19. If its the cypher then only option of getting with a Ping tip that doesn’t involve buying a Callaway driver with it and retipping it is to find a retailer that sells the shaft and have them install a Ping adapter. As mentioned above there’s no guarantee it will work with the Ping but that can be said for many shafts not offered as stock or upcharge by Ping.
  20. And those dates aren’t firm anymore. Because of the supply chain issues they don’t always receive their monthly order in full. This isn’t nothing new but has become worse over the last 18 months or so. That order could be shafts, heads or other components. From reading other forums people have been getting email updates about delays on their orders and personal experience I’ve received an email last week and another this week about my order being delayed by a week
  21. Ping heads are typically heavier than Callaway and other brands. The design and weight of the heads can influence feel of the club which can influence how one swings which influences the performance What shaft did you hit? Many of the OEMs all carry the same shafts so there would be no difference in the shafts, but rather how good or bad they perform in the selected head as mentioned above. There are some shafts that are made specifically for the oem like Callaway has a ventus blue without velocore, TaylorMade has a ventus red without velocore. Callaway has had im10 and t800 shafts from project x and a made for helium black from UST Mamiya. Ping has their own shafts in the Ping tour and Alta likes for woods.
  22. Tell me you aren’t familiar with a brand without telling me you aren’t familiar with a brand. PXG offers previous releases at a discounted price. They currently have both Gen3 and Gen4 for purchase. They had gen2 for awhile til they were out of inventory. It will be the same when gen 5 releases. Gen3 will be around as long as they have inventory, there will eventually be a price reduction on gen4
  23. Rory has always had an issue with getting stuck but it’s something many good golfers deal with including tiger, but he’s had a ball of fame career already with his swing and still has plenty of time to do more great things on tour. Like you said he’s in a different place than he was 5 years ago. Priorities have changed. Focus isn’t always where it should be.
  24. Another video on it from the main man Don Brown. He’s the man I’m charge of shaft design.
