  1. My personal experience: I would not rely on that the shaft says but rather how it performs in a fitting, regardless of the club type. My driver swing speed ranges from 79-83 which by all accounts = senior shaft. Nope, I did an experiment with my recently retired SIM 2 driver - using the exact same Fuji Airspeeder shaft in a A (Senior) and R flex, also both were the same weight - 49g and same grips. I was getting longer distances and better dispersion control with the R flex. I have a 3 year old 5 wood (18.5*) with a A flex 49 g. Helium shaft that I recently replaced with a 425 Hybrid (19*) with a R flex 70 g shaft. I get significantly better distance/dispersion with the hybrid then the 5 wood. Lastly, I was fitted with Recoils on my irons which I love and do well with. When I ordered a new set of wedges, the OEM recommend I go with the Recoils (same Flex/model) on the wedges. Nope the stock steel shafts on the Gilde 3.0 and SM7 outperform the Recoils on the wedges. So go figure.
  2. Shame on me for not knowing this feature. since I almost exclusively use the app vs. dashboard. Phil, can you tell me where the feature is in the dashboard?
  3. 100%!!! I hate hitting off of mats AND into a screen to boot.
  4. I'm still sticking with Vice Pro. Good overall value when bought through their promotions and performs well for me. I'm hoping for an upcoming 5 doz. promotion as I only have 2 doz left.
  5. Dang - I recently bought a Stealth 2!!!. FYI, @walkerdb7, I also had a 410 SFT and saw a big performance difference when I went to the SIM 2 Max, then as mentioned bought a Stealth 2 with the same shaft profile. While I'm seeing some distance and dispersion improvements, Stealth 2 over the SIM 2, for me the biggest difference is the sound which I prefer in the Sealth. BTW the Fuji NX Speeder at 50g is just the right shaft for me - a big improvement over the Alta in the 410.
  6. Here's a screen shot from the SS app. It'll show the specific club and distances. Note: you can toggle between the overview of the hole and the green (green view not shown) . The green view shows the putts and corresponding distances. The dashboard has more specific data but if you're looking for the hole overview - clubs and distances, the app info is easily accessible. EDIT: And yes, I did mishit my drive
  7. Are you looking for an overlay of different rounds that would show the dispersion of a specific club on a specific hole - somewhat like a Trackman would show for a 7i during a fitting? Or are you looking for a general overview? If the latter SS provides performance in several categories: Tee shots, approaches, short game, & putting.
  8. After just a few weeks I'm pleasantly surprised how much additional weight I've been able to add in the strength training regiment. As an example, I'm now up to 32.5 lbs. each side on the Smith machine doing squats. Additional weights have been added to Chest Press, Biceps, and Pull Down. I am maxed out on the ab machine at 140 lbs, however, I am still struggling adding additional weights to both upward and side twists. Lastly, I've gotten to hate the elliptical - but necessary since I want to lose 7 lbs to get me back to 160. EDIT: FYI - I credit my daughter on the increase weight scenario as she had recommended that I add additional weight at the end of each set. Here's my cheat sheet for the strength training workouts.

    LPGA

Since we still have cable (part of our HOA ) and corresponding Golf Channel, I can attest to the Ladies getting far less TV time. More often then not, they'll show a Champions event when the Tour goes to regular broadcast channels on the weekend vs showing a LPGA tour event. One of the things I noticed yesterday and comparing it to watching the PGA last weekend was that there were no TV towers, or camera drones following the players - just a few cameramen.
  10. Lots of exercises you can do at home, starting with planks. FYI, I was reading an article in Golf Digest about the most important exercise for golf & seniors = rotation. Not sure if you can do that with the bad discs and potential knee issue. Maybe a good start is just walking? Easy on the knees and back.

    LPGA

I agree with you. For some reason the Ladies don't get the recognition they deserve. We saw Lydia play when we went to the Drive-On , however, Nelly looks like she's back in form. Since they're both tied at -6, it'll be interesting to see who breaks out today.
  12. My wife and I were at this event in Bradenton , Fl today. A special thanks to the LPGA for offering free passes to veterans AND their spouses! Initially we followed M. Kang and Nelly Korda - you didn't have to look at the schedule to see which hole they were on - you just had to look at the crowds - seemed like everyone was watching this group. Here's Megan watching Nelly giving her pointers on the par 3 9th hole. Nice to see both of them land their drives so close - especially since they were dealing with a 2 club wind! Yup they were both birdies. There were quite of few others that we watched, including another local gal Brittany Lincicome, Stacy Lewis, C. Knight, L. Thompson, Lucy Li, etc. The nice thing about the Ladies events is that you can get up close and personal. Overall, a good day in 80's temps and sunny skies.
  13. It's a toss-up between my Shotscope X5 and my Precision Pro NX9 HD.
  14. This is a great thread. I wish more older golfers would follow a fitness regiment - both eating and workouts. The majority of the guys I play with are retired and have never been in our fitness center, are major overweight and have several beers right after our game. I generally spend 3 - 4 hrs a week in the fitness center following a combined strength training and cardio, set-up by a fitness guru. Results are not too bad for a 77 yr old. FYI my prime motivation is better golf.
  15. Don't know anything about golfshot pro but I was an ARRCOS user for a year. The annual subscription is a bust for me - especially when we were living in Ohio and only playing 6 mos out of the year (and having to pay for a full year). With Shotscope it's one and done - no annual subscription. Customer service exceeds my expectations and a large community here and on other sites.
  16. I'll take Dunlap's as they'll be talking about him until the next time an amateur wins a Tour event. Also I felt bad for Burns on 17 - left it wide open for Dunlap to beat him. Oh and as to Rory's, I'd build an extra room in my house if I won one or more of those.
  17. So you think you might putt better as a lefty?
  18. @Rix, Kenny's recommendation is spot on. A 30 min lesson plus lots of practice will result in heaps more progress than trying lots of different recommendation without understanding what the issue is.
  19. Guess I'll be dropping anything Callaway from my bag.
  20. Maybe Cut should rebrand to PreCut? Seriously, this kind of lack of customer service won't take long to get around the golfing community.
  21. hmmmm verrry interesting. We're headed to the LPGA Drive On championship Thursday and the PGATSS is just a few minutes away. I'm definitely stopping by. Thanks for the heads up.
  22. I'll add another dimension to the responses. First to answer your question - if you're looking to just play, another Sim indoor franchise is Golfzone. I actually worked at one in Ohio a couple of years ago and I understand that it's one of the popular franchises. As to best way to know what the actual data points are, I think it varies between golfers. I hate hitting into a screen indoors which skews my numbers - doesn't matter whether it was at the Golfzone SIM, a big box store or at Club Champion. But that's just me. My fitter in Ohio uses a trackman but he has a fitting room with a garage door - so you end up hitting balls outside. Either way it's a way to get a benchmark or starting point for improvement. From there you can follow the advice that @cnosil and others offered. Lastly, I don't think Sim play is an accurate representation of what play would be like on a real course simply because they can't factor in environmental conditions. Maybe if they brough in Bermuda rough, dry or wet conditions, had a fan blowing at 15 mph, etc, etc.
  23. I learned something new - spraying the solvent over the grip tape from the butt end of the grip. Also I have always taken the release paper off the top end of the tape. Looks like you leave the release paper on the tape and then insert the grip?
