    LPGA

I agree with you. For some reason the Ladies don't get the recognition they deserve. We saw Lydia play when we went to the Drive-On , however, Nelly looks like she's back in form. Since they're both tied at -6, it'll be interesting to see who breaks out today.
  2. My wife and I were at this event in Bradenton , Fl today. A special thanks to the LPGA for offering free passes to veterans AND their spouses! Initially we followed M. Kang and Nelly Korda - you didn't have to look at the schedule to see which hole they were on - you just had to look at the crowds - seemed like everyone was watching this group. Here's Megan watching Nelly giving her pointers on the par 3 9th hole. Nice to see both of them land their drives so close - especially since they were dealing with a 2 club wind! Yup they were both birdies. There were quite of few others that we watched, including another local gal Brittany Lincicome, Stacy Lewis, C. Knight, L. Thompson, Lucy Li, etc. The nice thing about the Ladies events is that you can get up close and personal. Overall, a good day in 80's temps and sunny skies.
  3. It's a toss-up between my Shotscope X5 and my Precision Pro NX9 HD.
  4. This is a great thread. I wish more older golfers would follow a fitness regiment - both eating and workouts. The majority of the guys I play with are retired and have never been in our fitness center, are major overweight and have several beers right after our game. I generally spend 3 - 4 hrs a week in the fitness center following a combined strength training and cardio, set-up by a fitness guru. Results are not too bad for a 77 yr old. FYI my prime motivation is better golf.
  5. Don't know anything about golfshot pro but I was an ARRCOS user for a year. The annual subscription is a bust for me - especially when we were living in Ohio and only playing 6 mos out of the year (and having to pay for a full year). With Shotscope it's one and done - no annual subscription. Customer service exceeds my expectations and a large community here and on other sites.
  6. I'll take Dunlap's as they'll be talking about him until the next time an amateur wins a Tour event. Also I felt bad for Burns on 17 - left it wide open for Dunlap to beat him. Oh and as to Rory's, I'd build an extra room in my house if I won one or more of those.
  7. So you think you might putt better as a lefty?
  8. @Rix, Kenny's recommendation is spot on. A 30 min lesson plus lots of practice will result in heaps more progress than trying lots of different recommendation without understanding what the issue is.
  9. Guess I'll be dropping anything Callaway from my bag.
  10. Maybe Cut should rebrand to PreCut? Seriously, this kind of lack of customer service won't take long to get around the golfing community.
  11. hmmmm verrry interesting. We're headed to the LPGA Drive On championship Thursday and the PGATSS is just a few minutes away. I'm definitely stopping by. Thanks for the heads up.
  12. I'll add another dimension to the responses. First to answer your question - if you're looking to just play, another Sim indoor franchise is Golfzone. I actually worked at one in Ohio a couple of years ago and I understand that it's one of the popular franchises. As to best way to know what the actual data points are, I think it varies between golfers. I hate hitting into a screen indoors which skews my numbers - doesn't matter whether it was at the Golfzone SIM, a big box store or at Club Champion. But that's just me. My fitter in Ohio uses a trackman but he has a fitting room with a garage door - so you end up hitting balls outside. Either way it's a way to get a benchmark or starting point for improvement. From there you can follow the advice that @cnosil and others offered. Lastly, I don't think Sim play is an accurate representation of what play would be like on a real course simply because they can't factor in environmental conditions. Maybe if they brough in Bermuda rough, dry or wet conditions, had a fan blowing at 15 mph, etc, etc.
  13. I learned something new - spraying the solvent over the grip tape from the butt end of the grip. Also I have always taken the release paper off the top end of the tape. Looks like you leave the release paper on the tape and then insert the grip?
  14. A course that makes you think more about strategy then just bombing the ball, is well kept and a friendly staff. Spacing between groups is an important criteria as well for me. We were with some friends a couple of weeks ago, playing at one of our 'sister' courses. They were spacing the groups 6 minutes apart - seemed like we were waiting on every tee box and the group behind us was getting impatient and hitting balls close to us. The Marshall had come around several times telling people to move along more quickly. Very frustrating round.
  15. 2 days ago we got a picture of our delayed Christmas present from my son and DIL. It was a pic of 2 onesies with August 2024 on them. Yup we're going to be the proud grandparents of twins. We facetimed them immediately - not sure who was more excited the 2 of them, my 3 yr old grandson or us.
  16. Mother nature - WTH????? We had absolutely no rain this past summer - our rainy season in Fl. Now it seems like it's rainy every other day during our dry season.
  17. Our storm is rolling through just now - 50+ gusts and a torrential down pour - tornado warnings just north of us in St. Pete. But the good news is that here in Fl you don't have to break out the snow shovel. So far we've had more rain between Dec 15th and today then throughout the entire summer rainy season. Go figure. FYI the counties around here canceled school in anticipation of the high winds.
  18. My first HIO was August 30th 2022, on a Par 3 roughly 100 yds (can't remember the exact distance), hitting from an elevated tee box onto a peninsula green (water on 3 sides). I wasn't paying attention - trying to keep my head down, when the other 3 guys started yelling that it was going for the hole. I saw it as it hit the green and rolled in. My most recent (2nd) was a couple of weeks ago which I posted on the "How Did You Play" thread. It was a shamble - but only 3 in my group of which my wife was one. Here's the detail I posted. Posted December 31, 2023 (edited) Our normal 18 hole couples group was a bit sparce yesterday - mainly because of the holiday season. We ended up with 3 - 3somes playing a shamble which was just fine with me - my wife plus one of the guys I normally golf with. My wife was driving the ball really long but my other partner and I were missing putts left and right. My driver and other long club were working well, but I've been struggling with my mid irons - mostly due to trying to implement swing changes ever since my lesson in early December. That is until I got to #11 - a relatively short par 3 playing about 135 yds. I finally struck my choked down 7i well off the tee. It looked like it hit the front of the green and just kept rolling into the back greenside bunker. My wife and other partner both hit drives to the right missing the green - time to find the ball with the least painful drive. We found both of theirs - but where the heck is my ball? Bunker? Nope not there - heck I even grabbed the rake since we have deep bunkers and balls sometimes get buried. Resigning myself to my first and only lost ball that round - I decided just for giggles to check the hole and guess what! There it was nestled in the hole - darn I didn't even see it go in! The group in back was wondering how come it was taking us so long to play this hole? Sorry, guys - it's time for a photo op. Oh and there was no need to bring my LW and putter to the green. It was coincidental that it was our turn to bring snacks and drinks for the group after the round. HIO #2 is now in the record books. Oh and for @Kenny B benefit, who is wondering why the pullover and long pants- yes it was a chilly day here in FL. Partly sunny and a chilly 65* brrrrrrrrrrrr. Now a disclaimer: For those that have never had one, I'm of the belief that it's pure luck.
  19. Lyrics from Hotel California - that was some weird s**t. Regardless, I still love the song and their work.
  20. Holy moly Kenny - I just saw this. That had to be scary for both you and the family. Praying for a speedy recovery!
  21. I work out on a regular basis, trying to log approximately 4+ hours a week in the gym aka fitness center, I also play around 4 rounds a week. A couple of qualifying comments - one is I'm retired so I do have the time. The other is I learned that after a certain age (30?) you start losing muscle mass at a rate of 1% a year. I'm of the belief that regardless of whether you're a golfer, tennis player, etc the older you get the more you belong in the gym working out. As to anecdotal benefits, I've found that unlike my partners I'm not winded by the time I get to the 15th hole, nor do I have to cut back the rounds I play a week.
  22. Thanks - can't wait for your test. While I love the Fuji Speeder NX I have on my Stealth 2 this is definitely on the horizon for golf purchase this year.
  23. A Frenchman, Englishman and an Australian go exploring in the jungle. After some time, they come across a beautiful lake and all decide to go swimming. Afterwards as they leave the crystal-clear water they are captured by a local tribe and are brought before the chief. The chief looks at them and says "All three of you were caught swimming in our sacred waters. This is forbidden! As punishment we will torture you all to death. Then we will take the skin from your torso and use the leather to make a canoe. However, I will allow each of you one request before you die". The Frenchman thinks for a minute then speaks "I request a knife". The chief nods his head and a tribesman quickly gives the Frenchman a knife. The Frenchman looks the chief in the eye and says "I will not let you torture me! VIVA LA FRANCE!" He then proceeds to stab himself through the eye and dies instantly. The chief snaps his fingers and the Frenchman's body is dragged away to be skinned. He then turns to the Englishman. The Englishman thinks then says "I too would like a knife". Like before, the chief honours his wish and he is given a knife. "I will not let you torture me either. RULE BRITANNIA AND GOD SAVE THE QUEEN!" He then proceeds to stab himself through the temple and dies instantly. The chief snaps his fingers and the Englishman's body is dragged away to be skinned. Finally, he turns to the Australian. The Australian immediately askes for a fork. So the chief gets him a fork. The Australian takes the fork in hand and begins to stab himself repeatedly all over his chest, screaming "TRY MAKING YOUR F***NG CANOE NOW!"
