  1. They are coming to my town in July. Looked at the tickets $300+/each. Would love to watch them but that's out of my price range.
  2. This is true for regular play. I am not sure how the NCAA picked this location. I have played in many tournaments where the holes are set by tournament committee or head pro and there is almost always at least 1 very questionable location. Trying to setup the course difficult is usually a recipe for disaster. The only thing I could think of in the above example is that the greens were cut a lot faster the day of the tournament than when the locations were picked. However it is still unacceptable as the committee should verify that the course is set up properly and adjust accordingly.
  3. Yep free. I just downloaded about 6 months ago so had to try to remember where I played. I am sure I missed some...
  4. Golf Played (app on iOS store) is a fun app to keep track of courses. 144 courses across 3 countries. Very west coast heavy as you can see.
  5. I play every Saturday with a group we all ride (although I do walk occasionally) if we play in 4 hours it's only because someone slowed us down. We average 3:30-3:45. It has nothing to do with carts, it's the people using them.
  6. Not to snow on your parade BUT that aint nothing. The wonderful state of CA has over 600" in areas. It's just been insanity!! Luckily for us it doesn't effect the golf that much. Now the rain on the other hand...we are almost done with our last storm and all weather reports point to at least 2 weeks of dry. Courses are a disaster around here, and I imagine that overall conditions for the vast majority of them will be terrible for the entire year. The real shame is that the vast majority of our snowpack will flow into the ocean as our reserviors are already full.
  7. I will second this one, I took two complete breaks from golf that combined more than 5 years before I got back into it full bore as my kids have gotten older. They are now 20 and 17 and we just spent 10 days in Ireland as a family and traveled around the country based on the golf courses I wanted to play. It was great for everyone but no way would it have happened in their younger years.
  8. IMO that's a large difference from trying to work the ball. I joined a new club 6 years ago, went from drawing/hooking the ball off the tee to playing a fade due to course routing. Now my shape off the tee is a fade. I would consider working the ball trying to hit the ball different shapes during a round, ie a draw to a back left pin (RH) or a fade to right pin. Scoring in golf comes down to reducing mistakes. It is hard enough to play one shape consistently let alone trying to add different shots. On top of that there is little statistical evidence that working the ball improves scoring over the long term. For everyone other than Tiger you are just adding more variance.
  9. 1998. Based on inflation in todays dollars it is over $900.
  10. Based on my fitting from True Spec I would be $68 short of paying for my driver
  11. I believe that sequencing gets better. In order to swing as fast as possible the body needs to move correctly. The mind and body working together is an amazing thing.
  12. Weather has been just insane. I am in the Fresno area. We will have to see if we can get out together.
  13. Drove down to Bev Hills for a True Spec driver fitting earlier this week. My bag has been pretty set for the last year however my driver has not been the weapon it once was. Gaming the Stealth + with a GD XC shaft in X flex @ 45.5", and while the good drives are really good the bad ones are really bad as well. Just having trouble hitting the center of the face. Couple that with some face control issues and who knows where it will end up. Met with Sean, their lead fitter at that location. Good guy and very knowledgeable. Got warmed up and then hit about 7 drives with my gamer. And everything I was feeling was confirmed. Dispersion circle front to back was very large. Face impact was high toe, which according to Sean is where Taylormade heads excel, however it was too high and to toey. Red circle is my gamer. . Next up was trying to find the right shaft. We started with the Stealth 2 + with the same GD shaft. After a few more swings he pointed out, something I already knew, that I get too long with my swing which causes some power loss and control issues. He suggested a lighter shorter shaft and maybe even softer. I don't have a hard transition and have more of a drop of the hands to start the downswing rather than a pull down motion. Grabbed a 45" shaft and face contact immediately improved. Still a little high and on a toe but much better. Not where we wanted it but getting closer. Next shaft option was the Ventus with velocore, a shaft I have hit well at times. Results were close but I was having to work too much to get there. Next up was Diamana PD 6S @ 45", and BINGO! Center face contact good spin numbers and a decent launch. I haven't been hitting up recently as much as I have in the past, however I was still 1.5-2 up so not terrible. One interesting thing he told me about all the shafts on the wall, and there are a ton of them, is that the Ventus, GD AD series and Diamana are really the only distinct profiles, everything else is just a copy or tweak of those profiles. First time I have heard that, don't know how much truth there is to it but it was interesting as each shaft did produce a different result. So now we have the shaft it is time to see if we can find the correct head. In the above pic the Green line is the Stealth 2 with Diamana shaft so you can see it was going to be tough to beat. First head was Paradym (purple line) good results and very consistent but not better and left of my target pretty noticably. I wasn't a huge fan of the look, the color combo is nice but the head looked really boxy to me. Feel was very good though. Next up was TSR3 (blue line), which is gorgeous and feels exceptional. Top end ball speed was actually the highest with this combo, 159ish. However it was not as consistent as Stealth 2 and as he said is about the least forgiving driver on the market. At this point I am running out of swings and with only an hour, between the swaps and our conversations we were already out of time. He put the Stealth combo back together and I hit about 5 more and all were just beautiful. 3 yard draws launching just a touch under 12 with spin in the 2100 range. Pretty solid numbers. Dynamic loft went up and center strikes were the norm. The impressive part was the std dev. numbers, launch within .7 spin 199 and carry distance was 3. Hard to beat that consistency. While I would have like to test more heads, just to hit them I am pretty confident that I wouldn't have had any better results. I have always gravitated to Taylormade drivers and as Sean said they are the only one with a right bias, everything else seems to have a left bias according to him. It was a good fitting and I would recommend True Spec to anyone. As most everyone knows their build costs are pretty steep and driver prices are not cheap, so while I did get fit, I did not order through them. Can't wait to get it on the course and have the weapon back in my bag.
  14. If it is in your budget to get the stack and a measuring device do it! You won't regret it and it may acutually help ball striking in the long run.
  15. IIRC there was a period at launch that you could buy the stack and get a lifetime membership with it. So it depends on when it was purchased. I ordered mine just before, so I believe I have a lifetime subscription.
  16. I'm right there with ya, trying to get over my last one right now. Life, illness and laziness have killed my progress just hoping I don't go backwards to far...
  17. Woud agree that this has been a huge breakthrough. BUT could argue that it has been a HUGE detriment to many as well. As with all technology it is only good if you use it properly. Guy on the range that has no clue what to look for or cause and effect that happens could set himself backwards a long ways as many have done.
  18. For me it is nowhere near a Hideki pause, it is just a slower transition that allows my body to start the downswing. If I try to swing "hard" my arms outrace my body, sequencing is off and am slower.
  19. I wonder if this has changed more recently, the trackman report that always gets circulated is from 2014. I haven't seen an updated one.
  20. I won 1 league and finished 3rd in another and as my wife said it's my fun money and I can do what I wish. Not often I get blanket support like that. As @tony@CIC said experiences are the best bang for your buck. All that being said I bought a drone with my winnings to play with.
  21. Anybody playing DMZ on COD? Would love to have some teammates. THEZIPR23 on xbox
