  1. I’m currently working on the same thing in my bag.
    I found a 4 wood that’s 16.5° and I’m playing it at 16°. It’s perfect next to the driver.
I’ve got a 3 hybrid and a 4 hybrid that I’m testing to be next in line. I may do both and ditch my 4 iron but undecided. I’d love to test a 7 wood as well but haven’t found one I love yet.

  2. I bounce back and forth between grip sizes. I prefer a midsize pistol style grip. One of my favorites is the PingMan cord grip.   I ended up going with a bigger grip(SS pistol GT) because with a smaller grip my hands would get fatigued when practicing. Through a round of golf I never had the issue, I was always comfortable. But if I practice more than 10 minutes or so, my hands would tire from holding the smaller grip.

lately I’ve been blocking putts out to the right and having trouble releasing the club head. I went back to the smaller grip and I’ve been putting phenomenally.

  4. Pro+ Not impressed. Found them short from all distances. I found them very short on chips, pitch's and lobs. Using 6 pro v's and 6 vice pro+. Alternating. 6 of one then the other.

I'm surprised to hear that. I tested the Pro and Pro + and found them to be great. My previous gamer was the AVX. The AVX feels softer and travels a bit further but not by much. I couldn't justify the cost difference as being worth it and play the Pro + now.

  6. I really wanted to get better with my short game and ended up buying a book called "Your short game Solution" it was written by James Sieckmann. I would highly suggest that book. It takes some commitment but in my opinion it is a tour level routine. I never made a book/journal like it suggest but I did go out while I was hitting it really well and made myself a yardage book and noted my carry distances for 1/4 swings, 1/2 swings and 3/4 swings with LW, SW, GW, PW and 9-iron. Now I have that book to fall back on when I haven't practiced in a while. If I'm playing regularly I hit more off feel. If i'm not confident in a shot I default to my "known" yardages.

That book has made a phenomenal difference for me. The techniques and swing thoughts are great.

  7. Those are awesome numbers in my book.  No reason to not have it in the bag.
How was the dispersion?  That's what I really look at.  Does it stay in play?  Can I find it & hit it again?
Once I put a shaft in that worked for me dispersion was fantastic. I was a little wild be with the speeder and evenflow. Whiteboard was extremely consistent. Definitely bag worthy.

  8. Were you able to hit your M3 here as well?

Unfortunately no. The week prior I hit the m3 on an indoor gc2 and carry was average 265yrd. I'm not sure on the accuracy between the two.

  9. I have not liked Titleist drivers in the past but I think they've really got something with these. I hit both @ a demo day last week and got some phenomenal numbers with the TS3. With my M3 I average 107mph club speed and Max out around 110mph.
I swung the TS3 @ 115mph with the same shaft.
Seems like everyone's drivers this year really are going further. IMG_20190315_123332.jpeg

  10. I use to us Swing by Swing until 18 birdies came out. I've been using that for a year or two now. I agree with the previous posters about winning prizes. You earn "golf bucks" for playing rounds, games, playing with other people, etc. You then use the golf bucks to "scratch" for a prize. Now they give you one free "scratch" a day.

I have won a few things which is nice but you earn a lot less golf bucks than you use too. The 18 birdies app is great and I felt like it let me enter my stats and get off the phone quicker than other apps. It's really easy to enter stats too. You can enter fairways hit, greens hit, direction of drive, number of chip shots, sand shots, putts, etc. The free version offers a good bit of stat tracking and the paid version offers even more. You also get club recommendations, live weather, and more in depth stats like strokes gained, etc with the paid version.

I'll give the Grint a try and see how I like it.

  11. I have yet to see one of these in the store. I guess I need to drive around and check the local shops. I would love to have one of those shafts to put into my current putter (not a ping) so that I can play around with length.

I feel like grip replacement would be difficult but who knows?

  12. My local range lets you rent an SC100 for $5 when you buy a large bucket. It's the older model but I think it works well. I've noticed it doesn't pic up higher wedge shots as well as I would like but irons, driver and hybrids seems to show pretty well.

  13. I love doing everything myself specifically because I know that I will make it right. I love learning new things and there is always room for improvement. I have had things done by other people that was less that stellar. Sometimes I end up redoing things myself after I already paid someone to do it for me....especially haircuts.

It doesn't take much to be able regrip by yourself. You can do it with some pretty basic stuff. You can also spend a lot of money and get some nice equipment.

I like trying different grips and so normally I just blow the grips on with an air compressor and use masking tape on the shaft. I don't have any issues with the grips coming off though sometimes they do twist a little bit. If I find a grip that I like a lot then I'll use grip tape and fix it on there nice.

  14. I've been here in the Huntsville/Madison, AL area since August 2016. I normally play at Sunset Landing because they give me an airport employee discount. I really enjoy getting out to other courses though. My golfing schedule is a little tough to navigate sometimes and I have a few guys I play with normally. I'm always looking for more people to play with and i'm interested if any other Spies live near me.

    1. How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score? I started playing golf in 2013. I haven't been a GHIN member since leaving my country club in upstate NY back in 2016. I normally shoot in the low 80's but I have shot +5 and +6 a few times.

    2. What do you love about golf? That question requires and endless answer. I love how hard it is to "master" the game. I love the feeling of a well struck shot and the feel of a birdie putt. I love that golf takes me outside and offers so many different places to play the game. I love the equipment side of the game and tinkering with my clubs. I love the community that golf offers and how relatable it is to good life skills.

    3. What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies? I stumbled upon myGolfSpy in my constant browsing of equipment reviews. I don't think I know any other spies but it's possible!

    4. Where are you from? What is your home course? I am originally from Durham, NC but have lived a few different places. I currently live in Madison, AL (just outside Huntsville). I play most of my rounds at Sunset Landing. They give me an airport employee discount.

    5. What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? Golf in AL offers somewhat year round play.  I have definitely golfed in every month of the year although December-March can be cold. Or it can be warm...southern weather is tricky.  AL is home to the RTJ golf trail and it has some fantastic courses.

    6. What do you do for a living? I am an Air Traffic Controller.

    7. How’d you pick your user name? My username is one that I have used since internet began. I just keep using it because it's easier for me to remember.

I love tinkering with equipment and have done several putter refinishing with torching. I just learned how to swap my own shafts and that has opened an entire new world to me! Hello experiments! I recently build a driving iron to try since they are all the rage. I'm hoping to become very active in this community as I am on Golf WRX. I have been selected as a tester for a few items on that forum and I absolutely love having that opportunity. I am the type of person that researches something immensely prior to making a purchase.  I understand the value of a good review and I hope to provide that for other people.
