  1. I don't watch most sports anyway....but I am binge watching Amazon Prime, now.
  2. I'll be interested in your comments when you finally do get out on the course. Will be very interesting to see how your game progresses. As a bogey golfer, I believe your results will be very telling.
  3. I tend to hover my driver. The putter is slightly hovered behind the ball. The rest of my clubs tend to be grounded.
  4. Yes, but that's a personal issue and certainly one that we should all be thinking about. I was referring to a government order. In Oregon, violation of her "stay at home" order is a class C misdemeanor (which carries up to 30 days in jail or $1250 fine).
  5. Our governor (Oregon) just issued a "stay at home" order and closed a lot of places. Golf courses were not included in the list of areas to shut down. Social distancing must be observed, of course.
  6. Another horrendous front 9, shooting 44. Made the turn and pumped one OB, then went on to shoot 39 on the back 9 for 83. Still 4 over my handicap for that course, but felt better on the recovery to shoot that score.
  7. Another disappointing round yesterday -- 85 -- my head just wasn't into the game. Hopefully better today, but I stayed up late binge watching an Amazon Prime series last night and feeling it this morning. Tee time in an hour or when the frost delay lifts.
  8. We also do a $20 game, but it only pays 1 team plus net and gross skins. With 6 groups, it pays handsomely for a win or a skin.
  9. Yeah, was thinking about this the other day. Hopefully, things will return to normal life soon. If not, golf will be the least of our concerns. Be safe out there, guys and hope to see you in Bend!
  10. Yeah, pretty sure that when the battery can no longer be charged, like a cell phone, the end user cannot replace the battery. Perhaps factory replaceable or just get a new one with newer technology. Hopefully, the rechargeable battery is good for many cycles before it can no longer perform for at least 18 holes.
  11. Bad day on the fairways and greens today. Was hitting the ball poorly all day --- push fade that I couldn't seem to rid myself of. 86! Yikes!
  12. That's where I was when I progressed to the point of necessary knee replacement. It did not hurt to swing the club, but walking, even short distances from the cart to the ball and on the greens, was unbearable, forcing me to quit playing until surgery. With the ongoing crisis, any surgeries short of vital, will likely be on hold. Hope you're able to get it addressed soon!
  13. I seem to recall that it has some rain protection and, looking at it, it seals all the ports and appears to be moderately capable of dealing with light moisture. I doubt highly that it's waterproof, however. The batteries do not appear to be user replaceable.
  14. As a tester for the armlock putter last year, I can say that they definitely DO help ingrain some useful movements in your putting stroke. They strongly support rocking of the shoulders (quieter lower body, more active upper body, less activity of the hands, and similar. While I am not currently using the armlock putter as my usual putter, I will sometimes pull it out just to work with it.
  15. Our course (private club) is open for play. Although the restaurant and clubhouse are closed, the snack shack and beverage cart are still operational. Many precautions are urged, including preferred that you walk or only one person per cart (exception husband/wife), no rakes in bunker, don't touch the flag or anyone else's clubs/balls, maintain distance from others of at least 6 feet, no handshaking, etc. The local public courses also remain open with similar precautions. I suspect that if our governor opts to go to a shelter in place order, then all will change. But for now...golf is still an option.
  16. Was able to play as a 6some today .... 6 guys, 6 carts. No touching the flag stick, no raking the bunkers, keep distance between us on green and tee areas, no handshaking .... other than that, we still busted each others chops as normal
  17. Sounds like what I did yesterday .... even par going into 8, a par 5. Rip a drive, followed up with a great 3W, leaving myself a 63 yard shot to the pin (normally have 100-150 yards in). Proceed to blade a LW over the green onto the grassy knoll, leaving myself an awkward shot down hill to a slick green sloping away from me....flop short, chip again, rolls away to edge of green and 2 putt for a double bogey. Good of them to keep at a distance, respectful of you and your wife!
  18. Played our inside 9 twice today 39/38----77 (par 70). We played as a sixsome -- 6 carts, maintaining social distancing on green, leave pin in, no rakes for traps so could only smooth with foot/club as best we could --- 3 1/2 hours to play!
  19. My home course -- Rogue Course @ Rogue Valley Country Club, Medford, Oregon.
  20. Started out hot ... lipped out a birdie putt on #1, 12 foot birdie putt on #2, and chipped in for a birdie on #3 -- then the wobble of the wheels as I bogeyed 4 and 5. Just missed birdie putts at 6 and 7 and double bogeyed #8 ---- 38 on the front. Birdied #18 to close out the back with another 38 ---- 76 for the round! That should drop the handicap a bit for tomorrow's round. Edit: the posted score only dropped my index by 0.1 to a 7.6. I was sort of expecting a bigger effect...still getting used to the new system
  21. Just got this post from our golf club in regards to virus (only golf portion copied here) Golf: Hours of Operation: the Golf Course, Practice Facility, Pro Shop, and Snack Shack will remain open with regular hours. Golf Cars: only one passenger per golf car is permitted unless utilizing a personal golf car with family member passengers that live in the same household. Safety Precautions: Walking is encouraged instead of riding. Try to remain six-feet apart at all times, even on the green. Sanitize your car with a wipe before playing (club staff is already doing this, however, personally doing this can only help). Avoid picking up clubs or golf balls of fellow members. Avoid touching the green’s flag stick (leave it in if possible). Avoid shaking hands on 18 but rather elect for an “elbow bump” or a distance high five. Avoid congregating in groups (Pro Shop or Clubhouse).
  22. As long as the course remains open, I will play. If the open air at a golf course is a risk factor, then we're really screwed because no air is safe. That said, I'll play, likely ride (perhaps by self rather than share, but I play with known friends routinely and that has to be a consideration over unknown playing partners one hooks up with. As far as the flag goes, I like it in but others prefer it out. If I need to pull it, I'll use my gloved hand. While I don't want to live in fear, I will take adequate precautions to prevent exposure to someone who might be contagious and monitor my own actions accordingly. I don't see a need to panic, but this is a time where we need to exercise preventive measures to minimize the effects of the virus. It will pass, but it will disrupt our usual routines for awhile. Be safe out there!
