Manavs
Got a chance to play 9 twilight holes tonight (yes the three birdies were fun thanks for asking lol) and put the my droid to the test as a gps device. I downloaded "how far am i?!?" free from the marketplace and was very impressed with its ease. its a pretty no frills app that gives you distance to the center of the green. my friend had a laser device (leopold) and we were comparing notes on each shot. My app was spot on to the centers and i was very impressed with it. +/- 4-5 yards for pin back and front was not a big issue for me. it was a ball park number to the middle that i can work with. finding the course was easy, and then navigating to the hole your one was very quick. what i didnt like about it was more user error than app error. i was texting in between shots and lost the app behind other apps and reset it a few times, so i had to start over, but even there, it was not hard to get to where i was going. there is also a marking feature that i didnt use to measure shots hit. but im sure others will find it useful. 4 out of 5 stars for me Michael Staffer Staffer www.MANAVIANGolf.com
hendricks97
I have the MyTouch Fender and I have the USGA rules app, and GolfCard for a very accurate GPS / scorecard. It also will figure your handicap too. Nothing helps you find a lost ball better than a provisional hit straight down the middle.
Manavs
Hey guys - just wanted to let everyone know along with the free version of "how far am i" i've been using the "free caddie" software as well to great success. along with those i just picked up "swing by swing" another free useful gps app. and for practice rounds - compass is very useful in the gps mode to show you directions and altitudes. good stuff Staffer Staffer www.MANAVIANGolf.com

Shambles
I wanted to download some gps golf applications for my cel but I found I could not see or read the screen too often because of the bright sunlight we have. I guess I need to put aside some money for a range finder. Shambles
Kanoito
I wanted to download some gps golf applications for my cel but I found I could not see or read the screen too often because of the bright sunlight we have. Sun is a problem, but most smart phones allow you to set brightness to 100% and that's very readable under the sun. The problem is, your battery will also drain faster. Manavs
is the golf card app a free app? very helpful stuff thanks... ill check some of those out. yes, these are free, and most have upgradeable features you can pay for but i havent: - freecaddie (has front middle back - you can mark the course up if its not there) - how far am i (has front middle back plus marking of driver) - golfcardgps (most gadgets on a free app out there - almost too much for me) -cardiotrainer (can measure apprx calories burned ) - clineometer (can measure incline, and slopes for putts like a bubble level) -v1golf is a paid app that you can capture, upload and send golf swings Staffer Staffer www.MANAVIANGolf.com
Kanoito
-v1golf is a paid app that you can capture, upload and send golf swings There is a free version which still lets you capture and analyze swings. The paid version lets you compare your swing with a pro's swing side by side. Another feature on the paid version is you can download unlimited pro swings. On the free version you can only download 2. GolfSpy WD
I just upgraded from iphone to android and am really happy. I'm going to try out nRange Golf, Golf Frontier, and V1 Golf this weekend (I use GolfShot for my scorecard, but haven't broken down and paid the $30 for the gps version). @GolfSpy_WD
