Testing Balls - Recommendation

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have a good method for testing your golf balls prior to using them?

I have seen some things on people floating balls and spinning them. Thoughts on an easy way to make sure the ball you are using is legit.

Not sure how legit these products are but Amazon has one called this "Technasonic Check-Go Pro Sweet Spot Electronic Golf Ball Liner" I have seen some gadgets out there that finds the center of the ball for you.

Floating balls on salt water is the best method as it will give you an idea of just how far off the ball is. The ball spinners work well but they won't tell you if the ball is really off. The salt water is good because you can tell just how off center the ball is by how fast the same point on the ball rotates back to the top. If you keep spinning the ball and there is no specific point that returns to the top, then that means the ball is well-centered. Another option is using the spinner and salt water in tandem if you feeling extra picky or want to make a neater line on the ball.
