Matt Saternus
Sounds like everyone's headed out to play except me. Good luck with the short game. Quote Follow me on Twitter: @MattSaternus
jamo
Sounds like everyone's headed out to play except me. Good luck with the short game. That means you have a good opportunity to catch Sactown! If he plays a 4 hour round, you need about 250 posts per hour. And.....GO! Quote Click here to view all of my scores and stats for the 2010 golf season. Scared of clowns are you? I am going to find a video of a clown riding an Ostrich and take both you and Jamo out. No, and I'm not sure I understand why so many people are. I mean, IT was freaky, but generally speaking I think clowns are alright. SPY VIP GolfSpy Dave Posted March 29, 2010 SPY VIP Share Posted March 29, 2010 Should have just stayed here and posted... As far as the short game, today's round convinced me to buy the lob wedge that goes with my set. I just need the shorter distance full swing and the extra shots around the green. caddyjoe77
Cool. I love your willigness to hit your club on the belt sander. Have you done any grinding before or did you just have faith? Hi Matt Yes, i have ground some stuff before. Nothing too extensive. To me, its all about feel when you are grinding, and checking often. I need to post some pics of it actually. RSchindler
I just have my PW and a SW, and I hit all my short games shots with my PW, pretty much just try to get it on the green and let it roll out. I don't have much of a chance to get the ball to stop near the pin if I'm on the wrong side of the green. I would really like to take a short game lesson this season. SPY VIP GolfSpy Dave Posted March 29, 2010 SPY VIP Share Posted March 29, 2010 Alright! More arrows = better indian. I am going the vintage player route of having lots of shots in the bag by having lots of clubs in the bag. I look at it simply as by having the 60*, I have one more "known" short shot. I have one fewer situation where I sit there on the course wondering what to hit and how to hit it. Maybe I need Nic's 8 wedge bag. What i do is take a rangefinder to the range with me and hit 730, 900 1100 and full swings with each wedge including the PW. Fire up excel and write down these numbers then laminate the paper. You will not believe how much more accurate you will become. The hardest part is the 730 swing, and actually trusting those distances. As far as the clock swing goes, i wouldnt get too hung up on if you are exactly at 0900, what feels like 0900 is good enough as long as its repeatable. ams
The short game is my favorite part of the game because I can't hit the ball too far yet. I like to play all my shots low to the ground. I putt off the fringe a lot. It's not impressive looking, but it gets the job done at the courses I play at.

With the GPS there is no reason not to know what wedge to hit from where. I just need the rangefinder for the driving range. maybe I can bug one of the guys in the shop to come out and laser some targets for me...
