@Josh Parker, how is the feel of the JMX Zen Lites? I tried a few of the other models in the past in a few different sizes to try them out, but I can't stand that plastic feel, but it looks like maybe the Zen Lites are a little more like the typical rubber feel? Would that be accurate? I'm used to playing the typical MCCs, but I'm naturally more comfortable with the grips a little more in my hands than my fingers. The larger size felt better to me, but just the actual texture feel of the Ultralites, Tours, and Str8 Tech didn't feel right. If the Zen Lite has more of a rubber feel to it, I might grab a few to try. Worst case I have a supply of MCCs that I can always go back to.

It's interesting that it helps in both directions!  It helps prevent getting too quick but also helps in being able to turn the hands over.  They claim both on their website.

I think it really does boil down to the tension in the hands/arms thru the swing.  I'll admit, its hard looking at them being so large, but the results have shown up for me.  Shoot, after my run this morning I prepped all my clubs for the grips arriving today.

That’s encouraging to hear you can have a lighter grip and hit the ball better, faster just because of trusting the grip…and in such a short time!

The Zen Lite is definitely like a 'traditional' rubber grip in feel. I have one on a driver shaft I'm not using right now (Medium size ZenLite). I prefer the reduced taper of the STR8 grips, but wish they did them with the ZenLite grip material.

I will say, do their online fitting tool.  I adjusted the answers ever so slightly on the two times I did it, because I tend to grip differently at times and got both XS and S and tried one of each first.  Ended up on the small for the set.

I will be sure to do that.  Tomorrow will be a perfect time to get the ball rolling.

I was sent a sa.ple of the large and medium size grips to try out. Started with the large and removed it after one round. Way too big. Next I tried the next smaller size. Played with it for several rounds. I felt it restricted my turning over at impact. Removed it and went back to my Golf Pride CP2 Pro grips. Much better. I do not recommend the Jumbo grips, but that is just my take.

Fair enough, glad for your input.

Yes, they are very much just like a regular grip you get on any new club. No seam.

I had really good success recently pairing a Medium Ultralite with a shorter driver shaft I was toying with.  Then I saw the MrShortGame/Elite Clubfitters video

and best success was with the Large size, so I picked up a Large for myself and plan to test it this week.

If Medium was good, Large will be better, right?  Just like lawn fertilizer and whiskey.

If work cooperates today I plan to head to the range on the way home to try it out.  Sorry for the cliffhanger.  I'm just excitable and excited.

Working at getting better ... and very slowly getting there.

The online fitting tool is awesome and love these grips so far. Have tested the STR8 tech in ultralite and tour, as well as the tapered ultralights. I am leaning more toward the str8 tech, but hesitate on which one to get as I am trying to break away from an early release on my swing. I get a bit wristy and am borderline from flipping the ball. Can't find much on counterbalanced grips and if that would make the wrist flip worse? What is y'alls take?

Well, I played 18 holes yesterday and used my 58* with the JMX grip exactly ZERO times! 😆

I just never had a need for it. I did not hit it in any bunkers. My approach shots were all out of 58* firing range. I only left myself short sided once and there was a tree in my way, so I couldn’t use loft.

I guess this means I’ll have to use testing this grip on the 58* as an excuse go out again soon!

I haven’t heard or seen anything related to counterbalances grips assisting with wrist flipping. The JMX grips claim to help based on their size/construction.

Right on. Just hard to find much online, especially from YouTube since it seems like all those who test them go with the largest of the jumbomax grips and give a negative review because it is so damn large 🤣

Is there any advantage to this brand of oversized grips? I’m not really wanting to shell out the money for $15/club at the moment unless it’s really that beneficial vs other cheaper options in the oversized category. Thanks fellas

I have a cobra rad speed driver, cobra fly z 3 and 5 wood, taylormade m1 irons (5-PW), Top Flite Gamer wedges (52,56,60), and odyssey white ice putter. When I’m playing to keep score I typically play the Maxfli Tour X. When just getting a round in with friends or scrambling I play whatever I might find on the course or might find at the bottom of my bag.

My advice is to maybe pick one or two clubs that you use all the time. Wood and an iron and do a test run. Order from Amazon or a local shop. They have discounts for first time buyers on the site of 15% off if you like them.

These are much larger than jumbo and I haven't found another brand out there.

Made it to the range just before they closed. I had time for a small bucket with no warm up. I focused on getting the mammoth size grip out of my fingers and into the palm of the left hand a little more. I hit 35 balls and I can not say that I am disappointed.  2 left,  14 straightish, 17 10-15 yard cuts and 2 out right slices. My thoughts after the session, the harder I swung, the straighter the ball seemed to fly. The 2 lefts were swinging out of my shoes snappers that actually stayed on the range. I felt like I couldn't leave my right thumb on top of the grip. I had to wrap it over to my index finger. More testing today if the storms don't hit us.

I don't believe I would or could go bigger. It felt like a tennis racquet! LOL I wear a XL glove and its tight.  I can't even imagine trying something bigger. I can not see using this large of a grip on my irons. When I test the irons, I will go smallest first and work up. I will say, I hit 2 absolute bombs (for me) yesterday that flew 35+ yards longer than my average. Other than that, I wouldn't say its a "huge" difference in distance.

Was dispersion better?  Even if you don't get more distance, the idea with any change is to get better shots. That's the big thing for me in making the change is that I feel like I have better control and dispersion.

Hard to say with just hitting 35 balls. I will know more today. 11:40 tee time and a 7:00 Sunday morning.

Good luck!

Today's the first round since adding them to all my clubs.

Sounds like a mild success! Good luck with the rounds this weekend!

P.S. That Newton shaft is gorgeous!

Is there any advantage to this brand of oversized grips? I’m not really wanting to shell out the money for $15/club at the moment unless it’s really that beneficial vs other cheaper options in the oversized category. Thanks fellas

I’m not familiar with other brands, but note that jumbo size grips are not the same as JumboMax grips. For example, a golf pride tour velvet jumbo grip is still smaller than a JumboMax XS grip.

JumboMax touts their core and construction for the performance gains and I doubt off-brands use the same materials.

In my opinion, if you want to try the oversized grips, JumboMax is the way to go. Use air and athletic tape for install and keep them as clean as possible, so they last as long as possible.

I will have to learn how to install grips but thank you for the advice

I have a cobra rad speed driver, cobra fly z 3 and 5 wood, taylormade m1 irons (5-PW), Top Flite Gamer wedges (52,56,60), and odyssey white ice putter. When I’m playing to keep score I typically play the Maxfli Tour X. When just getting a round in with friends or scrambling I play whatever I might find on the course or might find at the bottom of my bag.

The size below Jumbomax XS is their 'SJ' or Standard Jumbo, which should be the closest to a GolfPride Jumbo.

First time fitting a JMX grip using compressed air. Took some tweaking with air pressure and figuring out the technique, but I like it. Bottom of the grip is rotating a little, but I only used painter's masking tape to give it a try and more easily remove afterwards. Maybe I need another layer of tape and I must have misjudged where the tape needed to end with this grip.

Next ones will be easier I'm sure.lol

Anyway, XS size JMX STR8 Tour grip installed on my Taylormade MG3TW 56* sand wedge. JMX don't sell these STR8 Tour grips in Small, which might be a better size for me, but I like the small size for my 7W and 3H, so hoping these feel good with irons and wedges. I have Medium on my driver and 3W, so may end up going there for the whole bag, but I'm hoping the XS works.

After a few swings in our tiny back yard, I like it. I'll be heading to the range later and chipping green. I have both MG4 Raw and MG3 TW grind 56* wedges, so I'll have a good 'feel' comparison between the two. Swing weight will be something to note- feel of SW anyway. I'll check SW when next at the sim place I go to (I've used it to check SW for the P770 irons).

Good question.  In fact, who else makes large grips like JMX?

Ok, I'm pretty much sold. I'll play the JMX gripped 56* on Sunday to confirm how it performs in a round, but based on the range and chipping green session this afternoon I don't see any detriment to using it. Feel was still there around the green and the grip really didn't feel all that big. Full swing shots on the range felt great. Next step will be putting one on a 7/8 iron and seeing how it plays.

Sunday will be my first round with the P770s, so I won't be testing out different grips until I have at least 2-3 rounds under my belt with them.
