timing grip replacement

Recommended Posts

Do you replace grips at the end of the season or at the beginning?  Assuming you have an off-season, is there any reason to "break in" new grips, use them in the dome?  Or is it best to do your replacement the week before the first round of the year?

I don't replace every year but, I don't have any particular practice for timing.  I did my irons months ago but have held off on my wedges until now.

I just replace when I need/want to.  Haven't found a need to bream them in nor do I feel there needs to be a specific time of year to do the replacement.

When needed…I have grips on my irons that are 10 years old, but they still have tack to them.

More when needed, but also generally do it once person season. This could also be out of habit versus necessity.

I used to replace my grips every spring in preparation for the new golfing year (when I lived in Western NY) and when our local golf shop had their regripping special.  Now I live in Key West, play year round and made my own gripping station.  So like others above, I only replace a grip when needed.

I do my own replacements when I feel it is needed.  I am also cheap, I mean frugal, so it is usually a while past when it should be done.  No need to break in new grips.  They are at their best when new.

Driver - Titleist TS2

3 Wood - TaylorMade Rocketballz 2

Hybrids - Taylormade Rescue knockoffs

Irons - Taylormade Burner 2.0

52 Degree - Cleveland CG14

56 Degree - Titleist Vokey BV

60 Degree - Ping Glide 3.0

Ball - Depends if I find in or have to pay for it.

I replaced mine every mid-February as I tend to start getting out end of February or March to start my year.

Driver: Ping G430 SFT 10.5 at the Flat Setting

Fairway Woods: Ping SFT G425 3-5

Hybrid   Ping G410 4H

Irons     Ping G425 5-LW

Putter:  Ping Anser 2

Ball:      Titleist Tour Speed/AVX

Bag:      Titleist

All shafts are Ping's CB Alta, Regular in Woods and Hybrids, Stiff in the irons ( I just like these shafts and never saw a reason to look for

others)

What I hear so far is that there is no consideration for whether it's play or practice, just the condition of the grip or the time of year.  Of course, time of year is a variable in determining play or practice.
