Me And My Golf Glove - 2024 Forum Review

This morning I played my first 18 holes using the glove.  I played at my home course, as I know it very well.  It was founded in 1919, and has been in operation ever since.  It started as a 9 hole, and I am told that around 1969 it was upgraded to 18 holes.  Speaking to the pro, he told me which holes are ‘original’. It was an absolutely beautiful day on the course, but the greens were still a bit soggy from all the rain. Anyway…..

My first tee shot was, um, disappointing.  A pretty good slice, but still playable.  After that first misery, I settled down.  I still am unable to get my hand over the blue triangle.  When I do, the results are abysmal.  It feels so very awkward and foreign.  However when I move my hands to a more ‘natural’ feeling for me, the results are pretty good.  Today I found that I do not hit the ball longer than with my goto glove, but it is much straighter.  I found I hit more GIR today than I usually do and did not have any doubles.  So that was the good news.  The not so good news was I was hitting the driver perhaps 10 to 15 yards shorter,  my long irons perhaps 5 yards shorter, mid irons were about the same, and short irons were pretty much the same as well.  All of that said, I had a nice round today.  Now if I could hit the ball as long as when I used my goto glove, while keeping hitting them straight as I am with this glove, that would be awesome.  AND IF I could putt, I might have game…. LOL

As of right now I am enjoying the feel of this glove and the feeling of not having the club move in my hand during my downswing, resulting in, I think, straighter hits.   I am not enjoying the shorter distances.  Still more work to do I think

Do you think that using the glove as intended,  would force you to adjust all your swing mechanics,  or perhaps just the club head position to get better results

I am not sure, but is something I will give some thought to when I play my next round of golf.

I spent some time at the range today.  Before I went I asked my wife for help with taking some pictures of my grip so I can show what I am talking about.  I went through my usual practice routine: 75 balls, starting with my pitching wedge, working my way up through my bag, ending with Driver.  After spending some time with my 54 and 52 degree wedges.  The results were pretty much the same as they have been.  My distance was reduced, but my accuracy increased.  When I attempted to grip the club as suggested in the manufacturer's videos, the results were, again, terrible.  When I put my hands in a more natural grip, for me, the results were much better.  The issue seems to be my left hand.  I can put that in place satisfactorily, but when I place my right hand is when I run into trouble.  I do like the way the club stays stable in my hands and not having to grip the club very aggressively to do so.  My next 18 hole round will be next Monday, the 19th.

Not sure, but isn't the left hand supposed to be turned a bit more inboard to create a V towards trail shoulder?  Does the glove not promote that position?

Good question again Rob. Personally I don't think it will make a massive difference to the actual mechanics of your swing but due to holding the club differently it will have some impact. It definitely has an impact on the position of the club head and in turn this produces a straighter flight

The instructions say the blue triangle should be pointing towards the shoulder

I have exactly the same issue as you Paul. Ive also adopted the same fix as you and my grip mirrors your last picture although I do have my left hand turned a little more towards my right shoulder

I am also still having trouble with that bottom-hand position wish they had put a little more focus on it in the videos and maybe highlighted the alignment with a close-up or two in the video.  In all though my gloved hand setup in the stronger position which was downright uncomfortable to start now feels pretty automatic.

What I noticed this weekend playing in a bit a of light sprinkle (just enough to make things slick but defiantly not a full real rain) for my first couple of holes was how easy it is to feel the club being in your fingers and on that blue line in the fingers as you grip it was pleasantly reassuring and let me loosen up on my grip even in slippery conditions so I was not trying to strangle the club in wet weather.

Played another 18 yesterday with the glove and matched my PB. I do think part of this was down to the change in my grip from using this glove. I am now hitting the ball much straighter and the grip is feeling more natural.
Due to the glove I now have a different pre shot routine by running through the set up shown in the instructional video. This has helped with getting a consistent grip and I do feel it is improving my game. I’ll be interested to see if I manage to keep the same grip without the glove but I’m hoping that now I run through the pre shot set up I will.

Played a 36 hole competition yesterday and although I didn’t wear the glove I can say that it has definitely improved my game. My drives were all straight, previously I had a tendency to fade the ball, and decent distance. So much so that the other 3 I was playing with all noticed the improvement. I can quite confidently say that this is down to the change in my grip from using the glove. It was also pleasing to see that I maintained the grip set up when not using the glove

8/25/24

I was able to get in 18 holes on 8/19/24 and on 8/23/24.  Both at my local where I am a member. Testing something new I wanted to play a course I know well, so there aren't any suprises.  As with my previous times with this glove, I am struggling with distance.  As before I am hitting the ball straighter, and that is a plus in my mind, but my distances are still ten to twenty percent shorter, and that is not a good thing in my mind.  I recall a couple of people had asked me some questions.  One of the questions was if I thought that I would have to change my entire swing mechanics to use this glove, and the other question was something along the lines of  if it would help to rotate my left hand more.  I did keep those two questions in mind as I played.  I did attempt to rotate my left hand to more align my grip as illustrated by the manufacturer, and, for me, the results are terrible.  After this past week I believe that I may have to adjust my entire swing to use this glove as illustrated, and that is not something I am able to accomplish in a short period of time.  I will be going to the range and playing another game this week.  At the moment I am uncertain as to which dates.  When on the course I will use the test glove on the front 9, and my ‘goto’ glove on the back 9, and compare the results.

Managed to get another 18 in on Tuesday and tried a little experiment with the glove. I wore my usual glove for the front 9 and then changed to the Me and My Golf glove. I wanted to see if I had been able to keep the grip consistent without the glove and then to see if my game improved with it.
I played really well and matched my PB so the golf was good. It did show that I have been able to retain the grip pretty well without the glove but I did play the back 9 better, by 1 shot, with the glove.
My grip has definitely improved using the glove and I am hitting the ball straighter. I’ve not noticed any change in distance as @Paul Hedrick has.

Ill be posting my final review over the weekend

Glad to hear you were able to retain the form without the glove!

@Paul Hedrick sorry to hear that the gloves intentions are not very conducive to your swing.

Testers- would you say this would be a better tool and good for someone learning to play vs someone who is seasoned?

I think it would be good for both Rob. For the new player it would help them get a good consistent grip right from the outset. For an established player it would assist them in confirming their established grip was good, in which case they could use the glove to reinforce it, or it would help give them a better grip

8/31/84

I went to the range this past week on Wednesday the 28th, and got 18 in on Thursday the 29th at my local.  At the range I stuck with the Me and My Golf glove.  My practice was the same as I usually do: 75 balls, starting with my Wedges, working up to my Driver.  My Wedge and Short Irons seemed better than before, however I cannot be certain.  I started running into real problems as I moved up the bag, and by the time I reached Fairways and Driver, the results was the same as before: straighter but shorter distances.  Getting more and more frustrated, I went and got a smaller bucket (25 balls) and worked on only Driver.

The following day I played at my local.  Since I am a member there, and the course was virtually empty, I played two balls.

I played Me and My Golf Glove on the front nine, and switched to my usual glove, the Bionic StableGrip Golf Glove.  The results were predictable; shorter, straighter distances with Bionic StableGrip Golf Glove, and longer not as straight distances with the Bionic StableGrip Golf Glove.  Next week I will be playing on Wednesday the 4th and perhaps on Friday the 6th as well.  On the 4th I will only use the Me and My Golf Glove.  If I play on the 6th, I will again use only the Me and My Golf Glove.  My goal will be to MAKE it work for me!  LOL.  One difference this time will be, my usual golf partner will be recovered from a recent surgery and he really does not like my home course, so we will play another local course.

I am not completely certain.  It is something I will work on and try and find out.  My next two rounds will be casual rounds with my usual golf partner, so I will ask him to look at my swing and see if he notices anything different.

Can I ask if you’re still gripping the club the same as shown in your photos? If so it may be worth trying to turn your hand more clockwise so you have a good view of the knuckle patch. I found this helped me.

The final review is posted and up - Final thought where I gained distance and consistency and am an overall fan of the glove.  The best endorsement I can give is that in my final round with the glove I finished the round with the same ball I started with which has aways been an indicator of a consistent shot day for me.

Interesting looks like @Northern Monkey and I had similar experiences but @Paul Hedrick had the opposite outcome - interested to see how the last review turned out.

I will concur with Paul about the bottom hand especially since it got better for me by the end but I think there are still gains I can make in that area so I am going to keep tinkering with that bottom hand to see if I can get it better and closure to the video placement especially now that my tip hand grip feels like my natural grip after the last few weeks of using the glove

I've been having trouble with my driver recently, often relying on a 3 wood or hybrid off the tee. I'm willing to try this new glove, as I believe it will make a difference.  Thanks @Northern Monkey!
