Most misconstrued golf concept

Sent Monte a message on his rebellion app.And I asked him what is a current fad in current golf teaching being misconstrued or taught wrong.He said 100% swinging low and left. That one concept (interpreted or taught wrong) is ruining amateurs left and right

Too many current instructors do not understand the significance of fundamentally sound grip technique and , or how the grip influences the entire golf swing.

Consequently, too many current instructors do not know what proper technique is, so they don't teach it. Sadly, when asked about the grip too many instructors point to the one in a million Tour player with a faulty grip and say "see, this guy has won millions with his unorthodox grip, so grip does not matter".

Obviously, someone can make just about a bad grip work ok, but doing so is a million times harder than it is for players using a fundamentally sound grip technique.

That is pretty interesting! More had a ton of stories about pros who lost their swing mojo after getting caught up in a trendy method...

I can only tell you the misconstrued concept that has plagued my game from the beginning: lag. From the moment I started playing I tried to delay my release to avoid "casting" the club. As a result, I struggle with a ton of shaft lean that results in low bullets. I would probably need another 20mph or more of club head speed to get good height on my iron shots with the amount of shaft lean I have. I believe it has also resulted in lower club head speed because I don't really use my hands. I am currently working hard to increase my hand action and release the club properly. I have to feel like I am casting the club from the top to get good action.

I shouldn't be giving swing advice (honestly .. I'm not a teaching pro and don't play one on TV ) but as an FYI maybe check out Monte Scheinblum's No Turn Cast .. see if it makes sense to you...

Too many attempting to be golfers want to swing like Rory Mcllroy, with a body like Homer Simpson. One size doesn't fit all, find an instructor that will consider your physical limitations and advise you accordingly.
