Ghost Golf GT-14 - 2024 Forum Review

First test with the Ghost Golf GT-14 Oreo Cart Bag on my Clicgear 3.5+ push cart.

The bag stands well on its own and the rain cover is an excellent coverall for keeping what's in the bag away from prying eyes when leaving them in a vehicle or anywhere unattended.  The cover also sequesters the clubs ensuring the balance point of the bag is inside it's footprint.

PXL_20240930_190705711.jpg.3ab14b039dbd86f9d3064ab2374ca6c9.jpg

The bag loaded easily and compared to the Sun Mountain C130 I think it was easier to ensure it was on and strapped in place securely.

PXL_20240930_190724740.jpg.7b0d0ba491046a5f3cc5140622dcf9e2.jpg

The top straps fed easily through the strap slots and it appeared the slots were custom designed to take the straps naturally at the top of the opening adding to the secure fit and neat appearance of the combination of cart and bag.

PXL_20240930_190729579.jpg.c57d9768779462114087cba44ca3e443.jpg

You'll note how with only one provided hanger loop in the loop fabric material for tagging the hook side of the fastener material to hang a golf glove, I was able to slide a medium size D-ring carbineer as an additional hanging place for what goes on the outside of my golf bag. One was just not going to do after having 4 places on the C130 to hang things.

PXL_20240930_190734824.jpg.2b2c2376748c8ba2a5734981b184adf1.jpg

I found the lift up front pocket made attachment of the upper cart strap easy to do and it works better putting the connection in the center of the lift pocket.  Off center the pocket would not sit properly on its magnets.

PXL_20240930_190741310.jpg.1833ce3a333327b2abbce51a3c03bf25.jpg

The lower strap connects as easy as possible with no issues or concerns.

Loaded and almost ready to go.

PXL_20240930_190821584.jpg.549b916e1324fbebc47ead0ce284d0e1.jpg

Such a neat appearance.  I like when the angled side graphics on a golf bag line up horizontally when loaded on a push cart

PXL_20240930_191043647.jpg.2910093497d0893dcde96d2a564abc7e.jpg

The view of the clubs loaded as recommended on the top card in place when received in the box shows the best fall of the clubs when mounted on the push cart.

PXL_20240930_204145802_MP.jpg.f019e5f273217e055dc3cf00e75857b9.jpg

On the course the bag stayed put without any indication of it moving or twisting in the straps as side slopes were transited.

PXL_20240930_204206746.jpg.b4eb908abdb5d2a473657d27b23457e5.jpg

Jim's C130 on his Clicgear 4.0 makes again a good side by side comparison of what I had last used on my Clicgear to what's on it today.  On the way to the fairway from this elevated tee box is a long and steep downhill slope that's perfect to let a push cart go for a gliding run to the fairway below.  A drainage rill crosses the path of a cart doing an uncontrolled run and the C130 always used to lift the front wheel crossing it over the past few years.  With the GT-14 on the Clicgear all wheels stayed in contact with the grass and no bounce of the front wheel was noted indicating a good balance of the push cart front and back.

PXL_20240930_211056981.jpg.d68528b99b805e5948d8349ad4bb9c42.jpg

I took water bottles in the beverage pockets in front and I suspect these helped the balance of the cart as previously noted.

PXL_20240930_211119411.jpg.ffd2b9f08f05201909f9d55192e399ea.jpg

And that's a wrap!  Next test is Wednesday, same time and same place. ⛳

This is the third time I am posting this. LOL The phone for some reason isn't working right. I will edit later to add photos of some of the key items discussed.

Finally made it out Sunday morning for the first round with the Ghost bag. We have a few spies in the group that have been waiting to see it.  The bag was inspected by them and received high praise. Coming into this from a hybrid-carry bag, I knew there would be some parts of the transition that would be "uncomfortable", I was absolutely correct. I just transferred everything from bag to bag to get an idea of exactly what the difference between the carry and cart bag is. Upon arriving at the course, I immediately found my first issue. Although I thought I set the strap to the proper size, when walking up the bag seemed extremely top heavy and the irons wanted to slide out. I readjusted the strap to the longest possible setting and tried again. I received the same result as before. I ended up holding the iron heads and walked into the staging area. I only carry about 10 balls and everything else is minimal. I was wondering if this would be a problem. I set the bag down behind the cart and gave it a few pushes to test for stability in every direction it was rock solid! After several people looked at the bag and checked out some of the pockets I loaded the bag on the cart. Only 2 handles on the side of the upper ring made it more difficult to load. The old bag had a handle in the back of the bag. Once again, it's not bad, just different. the base fit snuggly into the cart and I pulled the strap through, I immediately notice the "nylon" area others have mentioned. It seemed very tight in that area, so tight that I actually removed it and went outside it. This didn't make the bag move or even slightly wiggle. The bag seems overly large when I put it on the cart. When tightening the strap, the bag was really pressed against the basket on the cart. so much so that I was worried that it would damage it. I checked it 3 or 4 times during the day. The bag looks absolutely stunning! Everything pocket was very accessible and easy to open and close. As the round progressed, I noticed a couple problems. My wedge and 9i would get hung up when I tried to put it back into the bag. These are located in the bottom corners of the bag.  Walking back to the truck I immediately grabbed the irons and held on. I believe this is just a weighting problem and not a bag issue.  Sorry it's so short, being this is the 3rd time I'm typing this and that 4 letter word needs to happen this morning! More to come. I found my next golf bag material, should have enough material for 3 or 4. Place your orders now!

Not any bigger than my Ping Pioneer. The dimensions and weight are very similar with the top of the Ping being a tad bit wider.  I can edit in photos if you like.

@Medfloat all good. Just was a little surprised next to the Srixon (not apples to apples). Looks like a great bag.

Since having it about a week, I have adjusted to the different layout and like the bag.  Clubs do not snag, plenty of room and carry handles, pretty stable on the base, and looks snappy.

Side by side (and pocket by pocket from my swapping out from one bag to another) the Ghost Golf GT-14 is the same size as a Sun Mountain C130 that makes sense as I really don't think a bag could be much bigger and fit the bag compartment on the back of a riding cart except if it were to bulge out the back where the front pockets are (like one bag did on the other cart in my foursome last Friday!)

I noted that the clubs were easier in and out on the vertical mount of the riding card compared to the angled lean of the push cart.  I have a Press 3.0 L.A.B. putter grip which is about as big of a grip as is found on any putter for width.  The issue I was having was the front corner slots either side of the two you mention by the putter well for what seemed to be an impedance of being able to slide them in.  I am going to investigate further as there seems to be some interference down the sleeves returning clubs when on the push cart.

So far I have not had any issues with the putter well and adjoining slots.  For clarity, I am using the slot closest to the magnetic pocket.

I was shooting for a nice range session this afternoon complete with photo ops, a water test and an unsolicited Jumbomax grip test. BUT..... Life has a way of changing even the most well thought out plans. Hopefully tomorrow.

Nooooooo!!!!!!! Turn life off for half an hour and show them grips!!!

Good morning @robperson, howya doin'?  I haven't forgotten your questions.  In fact, I have enough information to answer most of your questions so HERE    WE    GOOOO

1. Will weight be a factor when fully loaded?  Uhmmmm maybe.  That is a question for each person to figure out based off of their loadout.  Earlier this morning I posted a video of my bag fully loaded for fall golf including wet weather gear.   I weighed it a minute ago, 33 pounds with two 17oz water bottles included.  The bag weighed the same as my last bag fully loaded.

2.  Will you maximize storage or stay a minimalist?

I only pack what is needed for the day.  If the course is wet, like Pine Hills was yesterday, I will take my wet weather bottoms.  I normally pack 6 balls but took a dozen yesterday because of how wet it was and the chance of loosing balls that plug too deep.

3.  Do you use jumbo grips?

No, I do not.  I do, however, have mid-size grips with an extra wrap.  This brings me to a good point about the bag and the slots.  Each slot is encapsulated all the way to the bottom of the bag.  The slots are narrow enough, but not too narrow, to reduce club movement which keeps the grips from pushing into each other on the bottom.  I am posting a review of my first day with the bag later today, keep an eye out for that. Suffice is to say, no club entanglement issues yet.

4. Will it stand on its own for range sessions?

Absolutely! This bag has a nice, wide base that keeps the bag planted.  Take a look...

That is in my back yard on uneven terrain.  Stood like a statue.  I gave it a few nudges and it returned to vertical.  Takes a decent amount to push it over, that is, unless you have excess amount of water bottles in the front.  If that is the case, it will not stand on it's own.  I put four water bottles in the front where I had a dozen golf balls and it barely stood on it's own.  Two bottles Not a problem.

5. How well does it fit on a push cart?

I posted about this two days ago.  The Ghost GT-14 fit my TourTrek like a glove.  Solid mount, minimal movement.  I think this is the link to that post...

Access to the entire bag was unrestricted with my push cart, well it's my daughter's push cart but she isn't here so I guess that makes it mine...right?

Hope this answers your questions.  Let me know if there is anything else I can help with.  Stay safe out there.

Thank you for the answers!  I'm slowly catching up on all the posts here (and everywhere)

Good evening agents…errr…spies.  Wanted to let you know the cart strap sleeve is in my possession.  I ordered the grey sleeve to match Mav.  The package was one of those white, thicker, plastic bags that takes more effort to open than it should.  Inside was a folded strap encased within a clear cellophane bag.  Double wrapped, nice.  The sleeve had a strip of cardboard inside it to help maintain the shape during shipping.  Well done with the shipping Ghost.IMG_8189.jpeg.cbe769b2b1c47d0965af0e525df6b42f.jpeg

There are two emblems on the sleeve that are a thicker rubber and sewn on, not glued (there may be glue underneath, not sure).

Ghost advertises the strap at 20” and they are accurate.  I did have to give the neoprene sleeve a slight tug to extend it an inch but it held its length…I know your smirking!

Lastly, I put the strap on the bag to check the color match and fitment around the bag.  The color is slightly lighter but not bad for two different materials.

Estimating how the cover would sit on the cart strap, I looked where the cover would end on the other side.  This is what I discovered…

The strap ends with about 3/4 inch protruding beyond the magnetic pouch.  Keep in mind this is just a guestimate and real world may be different.  I will know for sure Friday morning when I hit the course for an outing.  My guess is the strap would be more centered on the bag and be just fine.  Until then, hit straight and one-putt.

Second test on the Clicgear 3.5+ push cart, and it's important to specify the model as the earlier models and most recent Clicgear 4.0 have differences that are not being considered for my testing, just as other OEMs and @Rob Person's frankencart cannot be considered, sorry Rob.

Top front corner.

A question about Velcro tabs by one of the testers was investigated on my Oreo Cart Bag and nothing was discovered.  I could surmise or speculate on what was discovered but in my searching of the top front corners at the leading edges of the side handles but I found nothing similar.

Top of the 14 way dividers.

The other question about the 14 dividers sleeves and interference between the putter in the putter well and the front clubs was found to be similar to what was experienced during the first test with the GT-14.  The clubs slide down the backs of the sleeve partitions and they slide in easier when the angle of the shaft is parallel to the sleeves.  They work pretty well but I did notice the putter grip had slipped around the edge of the sleeve partition of the putter well and pulling it out of the bag was a challenge that ended up needing the hybrid club first pulled out of the front corner partition as it was keeping the overlapped larger putter grip captive.

Down the putter well from above the front collar handle.

The issue was avoided by sliding the putter grip down the center of the putter well each time the putter was put back into the bag.  At some point I will look more closely at the sleeve partitions separator material for a better idea of how robust the feature is constructed.

Down the putter well.
