Took the morning off and played with my dad and uncle at Tierra Verde. Played from the black tees which was 6975 yards and 73.8/135. Despite feeling I didn’t do anything great today my good scores continued and I shot 39/34 for a 73 so very happy with that. The TPT shafts keep performing, despite starting the day with my timing a little off, except for when my foot slipped I kept it in play. I had a few other close calls but this course is one where every hole is lined with environmentally sensitive areas that place is hazards. I did get my timing down and ended with 4 straight good drives. Including on a 295 yard par 4 i decided to be aggressive and carried it on the green.
Also on the a slightly downhill 237 yard par 3 I hit this hybrid that spun back a few inches.

They came in a few days ago and I got them re-shafted with some ferrel's I like, decided to not finish the ferrels with acetone since I though a matte slightly rough look fits. I had a little fun with the pain fill and went ahead and did a little rusting solution. They are looking great, but since we have has scattered rain all morning not sure if I will get to go hit them at the range so they probably won't go into play for tomorrows round since it should be wet and I don't have feel for turf interaction or anything.

Definitely been a good stretch of golf. For the most part when one part of the game has been off something else has picked it up to even it out. Like yesterday my speed on long putts was not good at all but I made all the 3 to 4 footers to not have any 3 putts. I think the most surprising is getting on a hot streak happens but I have been able to do it not getting to play very consistently. Very encouraging for sure.

Well, I had a fantastic round today. 3 birdies, 11 pars, 4 bogies.  A fine 1 over 74. And, boy was it fun. The best I have shot on Coyote Run.
Hole of the day; 515 yard par 5. I was on in 2 and two putted for birdie. First putt was from 40 feet. Second putt was inside 8 inches. The only thing that was not great about that hole (the number 1 handicap hole on the course) was one of my team mates put his ball about 10 feet from the hole in 3 and dropped his birdie right before I dropped mine. So no skins today.

Today I had the pleasure of playing Flossmoor Golf Club outside Chicago. This was a shotgun event run by the Chicago District Golf Association and was a nice excuse to take a day off from work. The weather was absolutely perfect and the course condition was incredible. Some of the nicest tee boxes I've seen and a very fun layout where every hole felt different. This course has some of the best undulation I've seen in the Chicagoland area and has uniquely-shaped bunkers that come into play on nearly every hole.
I ended up shooting 85 (43-42), which I was pretty happy with given how tough the course was. The rough was thick and the greens were lightning quick. I was able to manage only one 3-putt and two doubles. It was incredibly hard to hold any greens with how firm and fast they were. I was happy with my chipping and putting speeds all day. Also my driving improved as the round progressed, which is something I've been struggling with.
No rounds on the calendar next weekend, but hoping to get another one on the books soon. Until next round!

Played my first round in 2 months yesterday, started off rusty but finished up the back with a handful of pars and shooting 90 on a course I hadn't played before. Found an absolute gem of a course close enough to add to my rotation.

A little late, but played 9 on my preferred public course Friday. I made the mistake of making some swing changes on the course and it was an unmitigated disaster. Stopped tracking on my Shot Scope on the 6th, and just had fun with my playing partners. Found an abandoned TP5 Pix, and absolutely crushed the drive on the 9th to the point where I can blame my other ball for the round 😆. Hard to be mad at any round that cost less than $20 though!

Played a 27 hole competition today and had a fantastic 1st nine starting with an eagle on the first. Went on to shoot a gross +1 for that nine then played the full 18 after a break for breakfast. Didn’t play as well for the full 18 shooting gross +12. How can you play so differently after a 45 min break??????
Anyway that gave me a net score of - 13 for the competition which was enough for 4th place, just as had to be decided on countback. Overall I was really pleased and that eagle felt so good and was a great way to start the day. This is the shot tracking for the hole

Unbelievably, I played my first 18 hole round of the year at my home course on Saturday. I have played a good amount of 9 hole rounds, and quite a few 5-7 hole practice loops with my boys in the evenings, but 18 has been hard to come by. It was a mixed bag of results on my way to a 92.
The big killer during the round was 4 doubles and 2 triples, and 3 of the doubles came on par 5s. 6 pars and 6 bogeys rounded out the scoring. There was certainly potential for a mid to low 80s round. I had two penalties on OB shots, and one painfully came on my approach on the par five 7th hole after I hit a 282 yard drive down the middle left of the fairway leaving me with 198 to the flag stick. I overcooked a 7 wood into the woods on the right of the green, then proceeded to duff my approach with my 56, costing me an extra stroke on top of the drop. What had looked like a good opportunity for birdie or par at worst quickly went off the rails.
Ball striking overall was solid, but I really struggled for some reason on the greens, recording 5 three putts, a total of 40 putts, and 4.6 strokes lost to my 12 handicap target on Arccos. I hit 7/18 GIR, so was pretty pleased with that, and lost less than a stroke to my 12 handicap target in the driving, approach and short game categories. The short game really surprises me as I hit some bad, and I mean BAD, shots around the green with my wedges. This has all but confirmed to me that I will be looking to move on from my 52 and 56 Cobra Snakebites as I have no confidence in them at the moment and overall have never hit them well. The search for replacements has already begun.
I do feel like I am playing better golf overall this summer, but still need to find a way to eliminate the 7s and 8s on the scorecard. If I can manage to do that, consistent scoring in the 80s is absolutely feasible by the end of this season.

I shot my personal best of 72 yesterday at The Crossings which I consider I pretty tough course. My buddy and his friends were playing from the white tees I and started off with a string of pars until the 5th hole where I made bogey on a par 5. Then on the next par 5 7th hole, I was back to even with a birdie. I finished out even par on the front with a nice up and down w/a 12 foot putt on the 8th and a par on the 9th. I said "I've never shot even through 9 holes, so I don't care what happens now".

Back 9, I had back to back bogeys after a birdie on the 10th but then went OB with a pull. I dropped and hit a 9 iron to 3-4 feet under the hole and saved par. I birdied the par 5 followed by a bogey on the next following par 5 after a block in to a tree and had to chip out. Par 3 17th, stuck an 8 iron to 4 feet and sank it for birdie number four of the day. Par on 18 sealed it. It was so tough keeping my emotions neutral, not thinking about my score and just staying in the zone. Any time I did think of it for a second, I snapped out of it and kept making good swings.

It oddly felt like cheating playing from the whites but I have played this course about 6-7 times before and I think my best was an 82 from the whites. Next time, I'll play from the blue tees but it will probably be a while before I am back there. Still, I am thrilled shooting even par since I thought it would be YEARS before it would happen.
If the course name sounds familiar, Grant and Garret played The Crossing and made a video about it.

Up and down day, for the most part, a good day. Just those little spans of “wtf”, like back to back doubles ruined a decent day-
those are the things that we all can succumb to, and unfortunately, we do.

the frustration comes from shooting 13-14 holes perfectly played- then suddenly the wheels fall off for a moment or two, then it comes back… gahhh

6 over par gross yesterday (I get 9 shots), and that is with 2 x 3 putts and 2 x duffs with a PW!

I did however, hole a PW from 105 yards for an Eagle on a par 5; not seen the big bird for a while 👌
