    Morning all,
Woke up a minute before my alarm, and I'm not sure which is more maddening. waking up a minute before or 5 minutes before. Anyhow, today is my Monday for work. That means I have to get some info for our Industrial Health people who want to come and put these devices on us to see what awesome stuff we may be breathing in while cleaning weapons. We are also having to have noise devices to measure how loud it gets. Not sure why they are doing that now, but it goes in the medical record. I guess it's never to late for that stuff.

Hit 55° at the peak. It could have been shorts weather for sure. Opted for pants with the cooler winds though.

This Tuesday morning is a Monday for those going back to work after Monday’s holiday. Coffee doing its work while I am enjoying a nippy sunrise. Temperature should be in the 70’s for a late morning tee time.
Sadly,  I must report that the Angry Ancient Agers… make that the Antiquated Ancient Agers went down to defeat to the whippersnappers 3.5 to 1.5 in match play yesterday. On the 16th tee box I was down 2 holes. I told my youthful opponent that it was going to make my heart hurt to have to tell his mother that he had been engaging in elder abuse. I halved the match.
We elderly will be staying in our lane today and just settle with having ago at each other on the course this morning. There seems to be new metrics about almost everything these days… I will drop my latest for your leisurely perusal.

Have a terrific Tuesday in any an all of your endeavors….

    Good Morning MGS Nation,
Today is my Friday, thank goodness, was a ruff weekend at work but now going into some good weather by the end of the week makes for a possible round or 2... 🙏
Hope everyone is doing well, going to order some new shafts so I can upgrade the irons, just waiting on those to be delivered along with the epoxy. True Temper DG's
Well, time to take a nap, to get some energy back and take on the tasks the wife has listed in the board. Have a great week!

Ok, so went to the range earlier today and acted like I was playing the course with the exception of putting. Went and practiced that afterwards. While on the range I had an “Aha” moment, which will probably throw everything out the wind the next time I play cause I’ll revert back to what I have been doing…fun times…Anyway, it was to do with alignment and by golly when I set up the way I was on the range, nice butter cuts or baby draws. Then got to my new new driver, the Callaway Paradym AI Smoke. Not once did I fade it. I did pull hook it once, but the other 5 shots were beautiful 265-275 cuts or draws. I love this thing. Can’t wait to see what happens on the course now.

    Cobra Supernova Putter

Let’s talk about a few things first. When you think of putters you are most likely going to think of Scotty Cameron’s, Odyssey’s, Evenroll, Bettinardi, Ping, or even Taylormade. No one would fault you in those thoughts. Myself, I’ve never been one to go with anything more expensive than $120 dollars for a putter. My thought process behind this was that the more expensive it was doesn’t equate to better performance.

That changed when I saw the Cobra Supernova putter. The look of it stood out to me over any other putter I’ve used. The “Batwings” if you will, were not a shape I was accustomed to seeing on a putter. No, I was used to just straight lines on wings or a rounded rear of some putter types. This caught my eye as I started hitting it inside Golf Galaxy. To this point I had been using a Wilson South Side putter or an Odyssey White Hot Rossie Pro putter. Both of which were great at times depending on how fast the greens were. The artificial turf inside seemed like it was rolling true. Then I looked at the price tag, 349. Why would I spend that much on a putter? As I was contemplating my life choices about this I remembered in the app it said it was discounted to 199. I decided I was going to go all in and trade my two putter in and get this one.

Now like I said, the aesthetics I fell in love with. Who couldn’t? Beyond that I started to fall in love with the sound off the face. Almost a click letting me know I hit it properly. The SIK face assured me that I was going to have it roll the proper way every time.

Then, the harsh reality came into play. I wasn’t a good putter to begin with, and this didn’t make my putting struggles disappear. What I did find was I did have better distance control on longer putts of 10+ feet. Where I used to leave myself either the same distance coming back or leaving myself short by 5 feet, I saw I was closer now.

I will be honest, the KBS CT Tour Putter 120 Shaft is the first putter shaft that I’ve noticed it was not just from the company. That could have been me and being oblivious to the shafts in the putters I’ve owned. With that said, the weight felt great to swing. To me it felt more stable and I didn’t have the “Zalatoris wiggle” anymore. I did switch out the grip for a slightly wider grip than the Super Stroke tour 2.0 that was on it. I went with a 3.0 tour grip from Super Stroke.  Whether or not that helped, I do not know.

In the 10 rounds I’ve played with it, I do have more confidence with it in my hands. But it has lead to some cons. Firstly, I get a tad overconfident now and starting to miss the simple putts I was making. Secondly, being overconfident at times I don’t pay attention to the ball placement as much and wind up dragging my putter before I hit the ball. The last con, just because you hit it well does not mean it’s going to fix your open or closed putter face. My normal miss went from a push to now in an equal opportunity miss hit person pushing or pulling.

In all I’m happy with it, but would not rule out a different putter if I were to test it and gained better miss hits. I’ve learned it’s not the hits you make, but how consistent you can make your miss hits become better. Is it worth giving it a shot? I’d say yes, unless you’re already lights out with your putter. Then disregard everything I said and keep using yours. But I’d say at least hit it if you got the chance.

I’m open to suggestions on how to make a review better, as well as questions that you have about this putter. Thank you for your feedback or questions.

Howdy, Spies! Went back to my Golftec instructor tonight seeking help with more carry/distance/swing speed with the driver. After making lots of solid contact yesterday at the range, my contact was decidedly suboptimal tonight. But I finally hit enough semi-solidly for him to make some recommendations: (a) Keep my head behind the ball at impact, which leads to (b) hitting up on the ball, and (c) he gave me some drills to work on swing speed, and will email me more later. Didn't ask him about Stack or SuperSpeed or anything like that, nor Fit For Golf. He said working on A, B and C would give me better distance regardless of strength. Awaiting that email with more info; it usually comes 2-3 hours after the lesson, and I know he had another student right after me.
