When we put the call out there was a significant number of members that wanted not only new brands, but also clubs that would work for higher handicaps. Even so more catered to those just starting and so on. Now Byrdie Golf Design offers a wide range for all types of golfers, but their story and products is one that deserves a shout out. Unique designs, good looking clubs and prices that beat out just about everyone else.
We are really happy to bring Byrdie Golf Design to our member testing platform and get their gear in the hands of our testers.

These wedges really look fantastic! What a test for the group. I have a buddy that won a Glide 4.0 wedge in a tournament last year and he really likes it. I like what I've read from reviews on Ping wedges.
Driver is my #1 thing to work on this upcoming season. It is my weakest link, and gives me the most potential to gain. It's what I've been practicing the most lately.
However, wedges are my #2 thing to work on. It's something I've never paid much attention to. Basically I'm paying a lot more attention to gear overall in the last 6 months than I ever did. But my short game is one of my big strengths, and always has been, so maybe that's why. I never had separate wedges until I got a 60 degree Ray Cook about 10 years ago just so I had a club to get out of the sand and unique trouble spots. I play a Ping i200 iron set with a PW (45 deg) and UW (50 deg). My previous iron set ended at PW. Beyond that, no other wedges for me ever. I chip and pitch fairly well, so I guess I do well with the tools I have 🙂 But I also see room for improvement here.
I'd love to start playing a little lower shot with more spin to hop and stop rather than my regular chip and rollout game. That would give me a chance to shoot at the hole more, be more aggressive. I could see myself doing a lesson focused on wedge game to become more versatile. So this would be a test of the wedges, but also a test of how my wedge game can progress with an actual wedge set.
I did the Ping Webfit for the full bag at the link first. But then I also found the specific wedge fit and did that too. They were about the same. I love all the info they have throughout the fitting stuff and at the end. Judging from what it says in the side-by-side comparison, I would slightly adjust the result it gave me to reverse the 54 and 58 - so the 54 degree is the B grind and the 58 degree is the E grind. This is because I would limit my use of the 58 degree primarily for sand (E grind) and trouble like short-siding the green or downslopes, but I would use the 54 degree for a lot more shots like close around the green or all the way back potentially to full swing. I am definitely open to advice on that too.
    My adjustment to fitting:
    54 degree, B grind 58 degree, E grind

Ok interesting, now I see it has an S grind on a 54 degree showing only in the My Personalized Gapping Results, but I don't see any more info about that.

    TrueBlue and Polarized Lenses:
    TrueBlue:
TrueBlue lenses use patented technology inspired by nature's defenses to defend against blue light. They incorporate Melanin to absorb blue light before it reaches the eyes, limiting its impact on the retina. Main Benefits: Enhanced Visual Acuity: TrueBlue lenses are engineered to elevate visual acuity, allowing for sharper and clearer vision. The advanced technology in these lenses minimizes distortions, improving the clarity of details and fine elements in the surrounding environment. Improved Contrast: These lenses contribute to improved contrast perception, accentuating the differences between light and dark areas. By effectively managing the intensity of light, TrueBlue technology enhances the visibility of objects, textures, and contours, especially in challenging lighting conditions. Maintained Color Balance: One of the standout features of TrueBlue lenses is their ability to maintain a natural and balanced color spectrum. Unlike some tinted lenses that may distort colors, TrueBlue lenses provide true-to-life color perception. This ensures that the vibrant and subtle hues of the environment are preserved, enhancing the overall visual experience. Polarized Lenses in Golf:
Pros: Glare Reduction: Reduces glare from surfaces like water hazards and sand traps. Improved Contrast: Enhances contrast for better visibility. Eye Comfort: Reduces eye strain caused by bright sunlight and glare. Better Depth Perception: Improves judgment of distances, crucial in golf. Cons: Difficulty Reading LCD Screens. Challenges in Low-Light Conditions. Cost. Personal Preference. Sundog Polarized Advantage:
While there are many polarized lenses offered on the market, the performance of each can vary significantly. Sundog's Premium Polarized lenses set themselves apart, offering a superior solution. Unlike many sunglasses on the market that take shortcuts by applying polarized film to the outer layer of the lens—resulting in faster deterioration and susceptibility to scratches—our Sundog Premium Polarized lenses are crafted differently. We achieve this by placing the polarized film between two of our SD-C7 Polycarbonate lenses, creating a unique polarized lens.
    Main Benefits:
Even Polarization: Ensuring high-quality polarized lenses with consistent polarization across the entire lens surface. Any irregularities or misalignments in polarization can lead to distortions or reduced effectiveness in blocking glare. Material Quality: We use the highest quality materials for the polarizing film, resulting in superior polarization performance and glare reduction. Inferior materials may degrade over time or fail to provide consistent polarization. Manufacturing Precision: Our lenses undergo a meticulous manufacturing process with a focus on detail, ensuring they maintain precise polarization and optical quality. Durability: The durability of polarized lenses is crucial for long-term effectiveness. To maximize durability, our film is expertly layered between two lens sheets, offering enhanced protection against scratches and damage.
We thank you for being a part of this exciting opportunity! We look forward to your involvement in the tester's wanted program.
    Best Regards,
    Team Sundog 😎

Wow! These wedges have been talked about all over the golf work recently. Then Jaco Neiman wins with these wedges and a few days later PING and the forum staff drop this as the testing opportunity! That is awesome! Thank you PING and the forum staff! I’ll add my screen shot from the WebFit Wedge app shortly!

My wedge game is probably the strongest part of my game, particularly within 80 yards. The thing my vokey does so well compared to other wedges I've tried is control. Control of launch window, control of spin, control of direction. I've yet to try a wedge that even comes close BUT Ping wedges are the only major brand of wedge I have yet to try. So I'm very hopeful after reading about the tech and engineering behind the S159s. I'd be beyond excited for the opportunity!

So when I bought mine I used their wedge selector charts and although iam adamant about never buying before trying I had hit one and liked the feel bit when I got mine they were absolutely perfect!! My divots are perfect and on bunker shots we have alot of heavy wet sand and they glide well thru it. I couldn't have had them come any better for my game

Man, I think this is the club I would most want to test this year out of any of the offerings - I even made a thread about these wedges back when they first came out:

Also, the Webfit Wedge app results were remarkably accurate for what I would expect to see for gapping results. I currently carry a 52° and 58° wedge - full carry on my 58° is 78 yards, and my 52° is 98. Seems like the webfit predicted that pretty accurately based on my pitching wedge carry distance. I'd be interested to know what their assumed pitching wedge loft is for those calculations, as I could see some issues for folks using game improvement clubs with stronger lofts (my last set, for example, had a 42° pitching wedge that carried 135).

I am excited to see this test! Ping wedges and Mizuno wedges have always intrigued me because their irons are so pure, yet they are not known for their wedges. I just got new wedges last year, so I am out of this test, but good luck to all of the testers! I am excited to follow along!
