  1. Due to COVID everything was delayed since the testers couldn’t go to the facility. We wrapped up players distance last week and per no putts given podcast probably 1-2 weeks for article release. I start game improvement today. Wedges are typically near the end so my guess is you are looking at a 2-3 months.
  2. What do you mean if it is tipped trimmed? I have been emailing fujikura about one of their shafts that is .370 parallel tip. They said you can definitely sand down to .355; it is only 15/1000. The shaft is both butt and tip trimmed.
  3. HMMMMM; is there a story behind the untimely end to you Rogue 5 wood? What happened?
  4. I think how realistic it is will depend on the person using the system. You really haven't missed anything on this mode (also called Challenge) as we haven't started providing feedback. A decision was made; due to the fact that there are lots of modes of functionality, to step through the system. Next week is practice 1 and the week after is Challenge mode.
  5. 39/44: 83 5 FW, 10 GIR, 33 putts. a few things attributed to this score; 100* temps (ran out of gas on the back), double on the front, and a quad on the back due to some really bad pitch shots. Tee shots were a struggle today; hit a lot of shots right and the double came on a topped tee shot (lost ball). I also had 4 3 putts (30', 45', 27', and 35').
  6. I knew there was a big difference due to exchange rate based on looking at Lajosi putter prices. You had only listed PXG prices and wanted to know how more mainstream brand prices compared.
  7. What does something like a TaylorMade P790 go for down under?
  8. I think the key word in all of this is "average." The average golfer will never buy a launch monitor. They want to buy some golf equipment to impress their buddies, play some golf, and drink a few beers. The diehard golf junkie is the person that will buy a monitor to work on their game.
  9. To switch dexterity, you have to go back to the settings menu which requires you to exit the mode you are playing. When setting up for a game with multiple players it asks what each players dexterity.
  10. This thing is way too addicting and informational......Doing some putter testing
  11. I followed typical the stupid male model and just started plugging things in. Instruction Manuals are a last resort....I have now entered instruction manual mode to learn more about how the product actually works.
  12. When I listened to the discussion on the podcast I thought of it this way: back when I started getting PC's, they cost about $2000. As time passed and new models came out the new models cost about $2000 and the older lower powered were less. Fast forward to today, a decent powered PC is about $2000. Yes, I can get one for $500 but it is lowered powered and generally limited to things like surfing the net and word processes. With the $2000 model I can do most everything I would ever want. However if I am a serious gamer, I probably want to upgrade and get more power.....meaning more cost. The launch monitor market is basically the same: Trackman/Foresight are $10K plus. As they grew in capability, we started got Skytrack for about $2K. As time progressed those technologies still advanced and we now have basic $500 models. As technology continues to advance, the things that make the $10K models cost $10K will become cheaper and smaller and be replaced by better more expensive things. So the $10K models will continue to get better, the cheaper components will filter down to the $2K model and they $2K tech will move to the $500 models. I believe that in 5 years we will have the capability/quality of Skytrak in sub $500 models.
  13. You still have 4 players than can earn points. I bet there are teams with less than 4 players. you are in 48th for the week so there are definitely teams that are worse off.
  14. As @Golfspy_CG2 indicated above, there is a lot to this training aid and based on comments in the tester private messages we are all going in different directions so some level or organization was needed. Were starting with initial setup and operation. I posted a video a little back that showed how quickly this can be setup. It is basically plug in the camera, roll out the mat and turn it on. You move the mat or adjust the camera height to sync the mat with the camera. Here are a few photos to show a little but more about setup and the equipment. Connecting the Camera: There are 2 cables to plug in. An HDMI cable and a power cable. I am sure people are curious about the mat. it is 40" x 12" so it doesn't require much space. The mat is about 1/4" thick and a rubbery type material. As you can see in the picture, it does pick up cat hair. You will need a fairly level surface; my room slants a little and the ball does roll a bit. The ball hits into a spongy type material which acts a silencer when the ball impacts. Once you power on the system boots up (about 20-30 second) and then you are prompted to verify the that the mat has been recognized. If you have lighting issues, the system will display a message in the blue box on the right. From a settings perspective you can control background music (music and nature sounds), automatic power off, size of the hole (2 sizes regulation and 5.9"),, distance (meter, yards, feet), and player dexterity. From out of the box to practicing your putt you are only looking at about 5 minutes.
  15. I am not a guru and there are some people that have much more knowledge. Butt and tip trimming do different things. Shafts also have different tips (parallel and taper) and some can’t be top trimmed. Butt trimming a club will have minimal impact on the shafts flex. Remember a shaft starts out at a raw length and is cut down to fit 2 iron to lob wedge. You will not be able to change a lite flex shaft into a regular flex shaft by butt trimming.
  16. Sounds like a perfect round of golf.
  17. Even playing at the same course the greens are different. Did it rain, morning vs afternoon, when were they cut, is it hot/cool. Lot of variables. As one of the testers for the ExPutt putting simulator I’ll suggest you take a look at that thread; this produce seems to be a nice alternative to someone that wants more than a mat but less than an outside/large green. While it doesn’t cover chips/pitches seems like a great tool to improve your putting.
  18. Glad to hear that some of the information I have provided is helping. Swing seems to be doing well. The feeling of rotating around my left side instead of the right side has been a major improvement to my swing. Less fat shots and more center on the face. Still working on downswing to minimize my big pull hook miss. Supposed to be getting another drill to help with that. The amazing thing to me is how much the minor swing change has helped my short game. Even though I thought I was staying in my left side for short game shots I wasn’t which moved ground contact back.
  19. Entering the "next phase" of the journey. Had an online meeting to talk about course strategy and how to play a course from a target perspective. Going to start with some basic stats like GIR, approach distance, and, first putt distance to start figuring out areas of my game that need additional attention.
  20. I have worked with Bruce Rearick (https://bargolfinstruction.blogspot.com/) for about 9 years and think he is great. He taught me a lot about putting and the putting stroke. If you are looking for someone to tell you to do A,B, and C he probably isn't for you. He ask you to do things and you have lots of input into how you are going to putt and will get an understanding on how those choices influence the stroke. He will even go into putter selection.
  21. I don't know, I tried the play mode but I am loving practice mode. Been working on 20 feet and in; straight putt which works on distance control and face angle at impact. Will probably replace my ruler and gates. Switched TVs as well. Went from my big screen to a 30 inch. I wanted to watch some of the golf so I had to bring down another set to practice while I watch.
  22. It was hit and miss. Sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn;t
