  1. All of our state and CDGA events have been canceled through June. Hopefully they said maybe July they could start here. I know Indiana is still playing all most there events.
  2. Updated to remove a few more events in May. Hopefully June is a much better month for everyone. Stay safe and enjoy the golf we get. Its nice just to play.
  3. I will say whatever net and mat you get put double sided carpet tape on the bottom of the mat to keep it from sliding. This helps a lot.
  4. Updated to reflect the US Open Local Qualifying and the CDGA Mid-Amateur Championship cancellations. Has to be expected at this point and maybe we will get some tournaments in later this summer. I hope everyone is staying safe and getting an opportunity to play golf when you can.
  5. I cracked the face on my M4 yesterday (2nd head I have done this to). I hope I get an M4 replacement. I did not like the M6 and have only hit the SIM once. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  6. Was able to get out a couple of times this weekend for some early March golf in Illinois. Man is it nice to be back outside Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  7. So I have been practicing in my garage and testing golf balls for 2020. Today was the Snell MTB X day and I used my Align XL ball. 50 shots. Here is how she looks. Not bad for 50 swings. Most impacts were in the same spot and you can see a little discoloring but that’s to be expected. The line held up very well! I’ll continue to hit this ball in testing. I can say I like the line very much. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  8. Ordered my Skytrak today! I cant wait to get this and start practicing here in the next 2 weeks. It will be great to get an early jump on the season.
  9. I got to play a couple of rounds in Florida this week. Unfortunately the balls I used did not make it to the end of the round for photos, but I really like how well the line holds up. With a sharpie I am almost always redoing the line especially on days with any ground moisture. I think I will use golfballs.com to get this marking for 2020. Saves time and effort. 10. For me having been hit by a golf ball and having kids that play the game (7 &5) I understand the reaction. But like others above have stated rude people are just that. I tend to error on the side of caution with my FORE's because I would rather be safe than sorry and then still go apologize because it is what you do. Hopefully the rest of the round was enjoyable after that incident as it was before.
  11. Got some practice in last night with these. Headed back south in two weeks and will get more practice and play with them then! Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  12. I currently use the Golf Pride Z Cord and MCC Plus 4 grips. I will be switching to all Golf Pride Z Cord Align this spring though. I have always loved cord grips and Golf Pride makes the best cord grips. I do wish they would come back out with the older cord grips with the green grip reminder lines.
  13. I went from a +2.1 to a +2.4. Down .3 with the change. Non posting time here as well. It will be interesting to see how this goes playing in tournaments and how tournament rounds are calculated.
  14. Today I started my journey looking for more speed. I have my Super Speed training sticks and the radar all set. First session went well. Driver swing speed was 114 before the session. Right where I thought it would be. After the session I was at 126. Not bad. Not we have to build to that 126. The fastest I swing I took was at 133 with the green stick. I am excited to see where we are at come April. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

  16. I did this last year and I had so much fun doing it I am going to do it again in 2020. It is looking like 2020 will be an even better year than 2019. For those that are new here is a little back ground on me. A little bit about who I am. I grew up in western Pennsylvania playing a shorter course in the small town of Kane (Kane Country Club). This is a shorter (6000 yds) course but very tight and small greens. It was a great place to learn the game and grow up. I was lucky enough to play good golf in high school and earned a scholarship to play at St. Bonaventure University. I went on to have a very nice carrier there ( https://gobonnies.sbu.edu/sports/m-golf/2016-17/files/Golf_Career_Scoring.pdf ). I still hold the records for most wins (5) and lowest year scoring average at 73.0. From there I failed horribly at trying to play professional golf. I went out on my own didn't have a support team, slept in my car and never made a cut. I went back home with my tail between my legs and started over. I didn't play events for a few years as I was trying to find the fun in the game again and with help from my wife (she plays too) it has become a lot of fun again. I know I will never play on tour, but it is fun to try and play in these events. A fun note, I have 2 course records (60 at Urbana CC tie with Steve Stricker and Dylan Meyer & 61 at Kane Country Club) but I do not have any hole in ones. I am looking to come into the 2020 golf season stronger and bigger than 2019. I started the season at right around 170lbs. The lightest I had been in over 20 years. This was not good for the golf game and I quickly realized that with a poor start to the season. By the mid summer I was back up around 180lbs and playing much better golf. I am going to start the Super Speed program next week and hopefully that combined with some more strength training I will be ready for a great 2020. Below is a list of events I have already confirmed (with the wife ) I plan to play in. 2020 Tournament Schedule June 28 Indianapolis Open (Golfweek Am Tour) Purgatory Golf Club - 73 (2nd place) July 18 & 19 - UCC Club Championship* - 67 - 73 (-4) 140 (1st place) Aug 1 & 2 Indianapolis Masters @ Purdue 71-72 (-1) 143 (1st place) Aug 5 - 9 SWNY-NWPA Men's Amateur @ Bartlett Country Club Olean, NY* Match Play (lost in Semi-Finals) August 11 - Illinois Mid Amateur Qualifier @ Lincolnshire Fields CC 72 (E) 10* Qualified Aug 24 & 25 - Illinois Mid Amateur Championship 75 - 74 - 77 = 226 (+10) T-10 (Exempt into 2021 event) Sept 5 & 6 U of I 2 Man Better Ball 65-68 = 133 (-11) 2nd Sept 28 & 29 Indianapolis Players Championship 71 - 71 = 142 (-2) 1st Oct 10 & 11 Lake of the Woods 2 Man 64 - 64 = 128 (-16) 1st In the bag: Driver - Taylormade M6 4 wood - Golf Sub 70 Pro 16* Irons - Golf Sub 70 699 Pro 3 iron, 639 CB 4 - 6 iron & 639 MB 7-PW Wedges - Titleist Vokey 50, 54, 60 Putter - Taylormade Spider Grips - Golf Pride Tour Z Cord Align.
  17. Thank you to MGS for selecting me to test the golfballs.com AlignXL. My first impression is that these are awesome. I have always been a Sharpie user and I did not like having to reapply the line after a few holes. These look like they should stay on the entire round, we will see. I did get to play some golf this weekend in San Diego and I will be getting photos of the balls used up this weekend. In the mean time I have attached some photos of what the balls look like new and the letter from Brad with golfballs.com. Very nice touch. MGS Golfballs.com AlignXL Reivew First, a huge thank you to MGS and Golfballs.com for letting us review this way of marking golf balls. I have been a member on here since 2014 and I really enjoy all of the testing that we get to do. I currently play to a +2.1 index. I try to play in many amateur events in Illinois and I am always working to get my game to the next level. Having a consistent routine and lining up putts the same, every time is a key to success for me and that is what I will try to base this review on. This was a little different test as I live in central Illinois and the weather this time of year is not the best for golf. I grew up playing golf in western PA and as far back as I can remember I put a line on my golf ball. When I was in high school, the original Pro V1 came out and I put a line under the word Titleist to line up my putts. I still put a line on my golf balls to this day to line up on tee shots and putts. Last year I played the Titleist Pro V1 and had some very good success with that ball. In 2020, I am going to do my own testing this spring to determine what ball is best for me. For this review, I chose the Snell MTB-X in yellow. I have used Snell balls in the past with success, but it is time to find which ball is the best. First Impression Now I understand we are ordering from a website (golfballs.com) and the packaging is not fragile. We are dealing with golf balls. That said, I was impressed with how well packed and secure the box was. Once opening the box, it was more than I expected. There was a hand written letter from the CEO of golfballs.com congratulating us on being selected for this test. That is a very nice touch. There are a few other companies doing this and I feel this goes a long way as it shows there was time taken for your order. Under the letter was the box of Snell MTB-X golf balls that I ordered. From the looks of this, you could not tell anything would be different with these golf balls. Once I got a sleeve out you could see a nice thick line on each ball with the print FORE PLAY ONLY. I ran my fingers over it, and it was not raised, no bumps, bubbles or anything. It was just as described a nice thick black line. No line Line Looks & Durability (13 out of 15) Now being winter here in Illinois I did not have many chances to play. I was able to play 2 times in San Diego and 3 times in Florida. During these five rounds, I used these balls at various points to see how they would hold up. I will say my game was not where I would like it to be, and the longest a ball made it was 15 holes. I have always marked my ball with a Sharpie, and this requires me to remark my ball several times during the round. With the align XL from golfballs.com I did not have to worry about that. I now the lines were scuffed up, chipped, but that is what I feel is normal abuse on a golf ball. I would give these 13 out of 15 in this category. Off Course Testing (12 out of 15) I have been using these balls on my putting green in the basement. I have noticed that it is a thicker line than what I was making with a sharpie and that I do like. In a couple of weeks I will have my hitting bay made up and will be able to hit balls in the garage. Until then it will be just putting in the basement. The line is something I have always used so I was not surprised by anything I see here with the indoor practice. On Course Performance (38 out of 40) Again, have used a line on my golf ball for years. Always with a sharpie. The sharpie line would fade every few holes and I always have to redo the line. Not anymore! The AlignXL line is perfect. It held up to full wedge shots, drives and even the random cart path. I like how thick the line is and how it helps with alignment. From off the tee, I use it to be in line with my target. Putting again is the same thing. I do want to point out that the line is much longer than the sharpie line I used and I think this helps even more with lining up. What impressed me the most was how well the line stayed on the ball, it did get chipped and scratched, but it was never going to wear off over the course of a round. The AlignXL was everything I expected it to be. Good-bye Sharpie! Miscellaneous (10 out of 10) This is where little things matter. The note from the CEO of Golfballs.com, the package was secure, I think you could have shipped glass in there and it would have been delivered in one piece. The AlignXL was everything it was advertised to be. I would recommend it to anyone who likes having a line on your golf ball. Game or Shag bag (18 out of 20) The AlignXL takes marking every with a Sharpie out of play. Being a golfer that likes a line on the ball I will use these every round I play. I might not play the Snell golf ball but I will be playing a ball with the AlignXL line on it. It will save me time and effort during my round as I will not have to worry about the Sharpie line coming off in the dew or rain. This might not sound like a worry, but it is when you play in competition and you want to make sure you have the right ball. The AlignXL will make it much easier to identify your ball and help with alignment. Conclusion If you like using a line on your golf ball I would recommend using golfballs.com and the AlignXL. You can customize the line with your own saying and color, an awesome feature that makes the golf balls yours. I will be ordering my golf balls with the AlignXL this spring once I figure out which ball I will be using in 2020. TOTAL 91 out of 100
  18. I got my Taylormade M4 in Feb of 2018. I have played this driver for the last 2 summers and I have really enjoyed it. I found it to be more accurate than my older Titleist. I might look around the market this spring again as this will be the M4's 3rd year in the bag unless I can find something that is better.
