  1. The answer I have been looking for!  I've been leaning towards getting a pancake compressor but don't want to spend that much money on something that is going to be primarily used for regripping clubs.  What kind of attachment are you using for the grips?

Here is one on Amazon. Came with a small tip attachment that works just fine. I'm sure the Pure Gun attachment would work much better but I'm not re-gripping enough clubs yet to need that yet

  2. Some mechanics are similar, but hockey players make for more natural golfers

As a former baseball player myself, I would say that is because we are ingrained to not roll (release) your wrists and keep you weigh more towards your backside if not perfectly neutral. Both of those are big contributors to the EPIC baseball player slice.

On the positive side though, baseball players are able to tap into/utilize their lower body more naturally than most other athletes who transfer over to golf

  3. ... Great stuff! I am a die in the hole putter so I don't mind leaving some level or downhill birdie/eagle putts a hair short although obviously getting it at least to the hole is always better, but it is really frustrating to leave uphill birdie putts short.

I alternate between that style and having everything a foot and a half past

  4. Played pretty well in my league tournament yesterday. We played a course from a shorter yardage than I usually play (Played whites instead of Blues or Blacks) and I shot 67 (-5) with 4 birdies, 2 eagles and 3 dumb bogeys. It could have been a super special round because I lipped out or left a couple inches short 7 more birdie putts.

  5. One of the main reasons I started this thread was to catalog how well (or not) that the finish wears. Lots of threads on other sites about finishes but not many pictures. They get forgotten after one or two rounds or maybe one long range session, but I want to catalog how well these wear. I practice and play a lot so these will get a work out one way or the other.

The only long term pictures I found of DLC were Horschels PXG irons and they looked really beat up and uneven. But if they Nitride doesn't work on these I may go that route with another set. Or just buy a set of DBM Maltbys lol. I know I want black irons and I haven't been able to find the info I wanted so i am going to try and create it, whether that result is good or bad.

Hopefully if others have their irons done they will do the same so we can actually compare the finishes once they have been used hard.

I will try to post some pictures soon of my Cobra King Pros from when I got them back in March and what they look like now for comparison.

  6. I have seen varying accounts of how well DLC holds up. Saw a WITB for Horschel when he still had the black PXG irons and they looked really rough. I know each coating has it's + and - though. Hope I chose the right one.

Main decision point for me though was that Tiger Nick does spine aligning and club assembly for same or less price as others would do just the heads. I'll keep everyone informed on how the black nitride holds up.

From what I have seen the only Black finish that seems to hold up on irons and wedges is the DMB on Cobra and Maltby clubs. Unfortunately I don't believe it is something that can had as an aftermarket customization

  7. Their owner lies to consumers. Such as made in the USA claims originally then when he was called on it, it was assembled in the USA, then when he was called on that as well he deflected. The heads are made by Deson in China. He also claimed shafts don't matter. He also sold clubs head only but refused to warranty them when they broke because he “didn't know how they were assembled and by whom and what their certifications are”. And he was assembling the preassembled at the time and had not one bit of clubmaking certification. There's a list of things one could go on and on about.

Here's what I'll leave you with. Their heads are decent on center strikes. They're not going to blow anyone else's equipment away and they'll finish behind many in distance categories. Off center strikes, due to the Bulge and roll of the head, the gear effect is horrendous with them. Balls that'd be a Little right with some will be way right with the Bombtech stuff.

All I'll say is caveat emptor. It's your money, and you'll get your stuff, whether it works or not for you will be your story to tell.

    Very well said

  8. Always interested in hearing the theories of the various putting coaches. Are to share some of his thoughts on putting and putters. Read some of his posts but didn't get a good idea on his theories.

Its a little different for everyone but what seems to be his constants across the board is a low takeaway, smooth transition and a relaxed address. He gave me 1 drill also specifically for my path but it is one that can be done at the same time as the other drills he gave me.

  9. Just got some Wedge Grips (Yes wedge specific grips) from Pendulum Golf in the UK. Things are freaking awesome! Good tackiness, nice feel, slightly oversized with less taper and good reminders integrated into the design.

(I intentionally install my wedge grips closed)

They also have putter grips too. And for some reason they though it would be a good idea to give me a 20% off code (DPATT20) to share.  :P I don't get paid in anyway by them and just thought I would pass the savings on the all the spies out there interested in a grip that isn't from one of the big boys.
