  1. MLA has seemingly give MIA over the last while.
  2. A little back story… A few months ago I joined the Swiss Golf Association with a Migro membership. Basically the simplest way to get an official handicap here which is required to play most courses. A side perk was I received a Swiss Golf Magazine delivered to my address. As I am still learning German I eagerly read through it and noticed a few brands I had never seen before. One of particular interest was Single Putt. I went to their site and posted about it on our Underrated and/or Unknown thread about them. A niche putter company that is relatively new to the market as they were founded in 2019 and an entirely swiss made company. With them being located a mere half hour from where I live I figured it would be a great opportunity to reach out and see if I could come by and get to know a little more about the company and this very nice putter (which comes in both right and left hand!) which for me being a lefty was a huge perk. A quick email later and a near immediate response we had a date and time setup for me to swing by and get a tour of the facility as well as the chance to demo some putters and discuss more about the brand. The Visit… After some typical Zurich traffic, a missed exit and about 45 minutes of driving in heavy traffic I made it to their shop. Daniel (the owner) owns a production workshop that specializes in making various parts for medical equipment, valves and a whole lot more. The shop itself is tucked between some other buildings and is a pretty good size with several CNC machines and a back area where the putters were assembled and a little office area. I wasn’t sure what to expect when going there if this was going to be a little retail outlet or what, but when I saw that it was the actual shop and that is where everything was made, my eyes lit up. The fact it was the start to finish shop for the product really added to the experience not to mention the staff and Daniel were super friendly and easy to talk to. During a brief tour through the shop and after some introductions we discussed the story about the origins of the company. It is family owned and run with his sons and wife all being avid golfers. Daniel mentioned it was one of the things he loves about golf is that they can play as a family. He also mentioned that he had seen his friends who were good golfers play well and lose a ton of strokes on the green with putting and got the idea for making a new putter which would help. Certainly a benefit having all the tools at your disposal they had various prototypes and different thoughts on what to do, including a circle style 3D insert (think Odyssey RedBall), but ultimately ended up going with the 3 line design for aiding in overall alignment as well as being a consistent visual aid for golfers. They own the patent for this design and also have their official R&A newsletter with the approval for the putter. This I found really cool as he showed me the original putter which was not approved because it had a flat side. Apparently (I did not know this) this is not conforming as the side of the putter could be used as well so they updated the design to show this notch in the side. Non conforming Conforming Seeing everything built in house and being able to talk to the owner and go through the process to me is very unique and adds to the experience of purchasing a putter. With so many options from colors, weights, insert/face choice, length, grip and more you can truly make a perfect putter for you. There is no big fancy SAM Lab or computer for fitting, but a simple putting matt and cup for testing. However he is designing a clippable laser to attach to the putter in order to help better first customers. They also adjust the lie angle for each individual so that their putter is properly spec’d for them. The Putter… After going through many of the ins and the outs of the putters, their story, designs and more we got to the putters and testing them. I first tested the aluminium faced mod. This one has the inset slide into a slot behind the face and honestly I loved the feel of it. The sound was what I came to expect with the metal face and with the grooves it was responsive and not too hard. In this model we had the lighter weights and it was at 35” which is my typical playing length. The PMMA inserted face on the other hand had a completely different feel and sound. I was honestly expecting it to be much closer to my whitehot face with that softer feel, but was surprised with how firm it felt. And by firm I do not mean hard, but firm much closer to a metal face then the whitehot face or other softer inserted putter faces. It also had a much higher pitch than I had expected. The pitch was more of what I would come to expect from a metal face vs a composite type face. It also had a good amount of pop off the face. It was still grooved as you can see in the photos, but I would say rolled a good 10% further than the aluminium face. Now I will say with heavier weights this could have played a part as well. We were using their Single Putt 3 piece golf balls which I do have now and will look to cut open to see what it is like inside, that is also likely for another later article/comparison. However I would compare it to a Srixon Z star type feel. Both faces felt great and I am sure that I could have dialed them in a little more as I certainly preferred the lighter feel (again going back to stroke lab I am more used to a counter balanced putter). With 2 weight options (65gram heavy and 40gram light for totals of 130g and 80g) there really is a lot of options to find the weight and even though it is naturally a face balanced putter I believe you could make it slightly toe hanged if you wanted! I have gone all this way and yet to touch on the main selling point of this putter! The insert with 3D lines. What can I say it works as advertised and is a great visual aid as well as posture aid. The way it sets up feels very natural and not forced. The alignment both left and right and eyes over the ball work harmoniously and outside of getting used to the speed of the putters/mat I never felt as though my alignment was off or that I was going to miss left or right with a good stroke. Of course with the exception of a few pulled putts with the heavier putter nearly all went on their intended line. Below: Over the Top Sight Line with proper angle. Below: Sight Line toe up or putter too far away from you (white line moves under closest orange line) Below: Sight line Toe down or too far overtop of the putter/putter too close to body and white sight line under far orange line. The bottom of the putter is pretty basic and plain. No branding or anything flashy, but still does look elegant to me with the cnc milling lines and leaves some level of mystery to the putter when looking at it from the bottom. The shaft itself is a typical steel shaft. They can cut to length for the customer and I was fortunate that I used a 35” putter and both demos I tried were 35”. They have several grip options being the superstroke 3.0 or 2.0 and also have their own Single Putt grip. Their house grip would be the one I would lean towards if I was to make the purchase. Putter Customization… This is a huge selling point to this putter. As I’ve already talked about specs for customization I’ll leave that out and get to the fun stuff. Colors colors and more colors! Although they have some limited options on their website if there is a color you really want they can do and make it for you. They can also engrave various logos, put diamonds on the face and a whole lot more to make it a completely unique putter to you. This also includes the lines within the insert. The price for the putter is quite costly, however with the attention to detail, level of customization and keeping in mind the price for golf and golfing equipment in Switzerland it really isn’t that far out. There are also options for headcovers which again are hand made by a family member within the company. Wrap Up... To finish off I just want to say thank you to Daniel at Single Putt for taking the time out of his morning to talk and go over everything about the putter, his company and everything else. It was really cool to go and see how it was all made and the fact they do it all in house to me is just impressive. The putter also really works and feels great. To have that many options from colors, weights, insert vs metal is simply impressive to me. I hope you all enjoyed reading this and check out their website if not just to read a bit more about their story and let me know what type of putter you would pick or what colors would suit you the best!
  3. Exactly. I use to be a top curler in Canada playing from some of the elite teams and had a lot of success. I then started working as an Ice Technician and was at the club all day 6 or 7 days a week and when I was home my girl friend at the time loved watching curling so it was on all the time and I ended up just retiring and stopped playing entirely for 2 full seasons. I have played a few times since moving to Switzerland, but that drive and desire to play just isn't there. The time and effort into maintaining that level is just too high a cost and when I already spend 5-6 hours on the ice each day the last thing I want to do is spend another 2-3 hours training or playing. My game once ever 2-3 weeks now is more than enough! Max Homa is another guy who had the similar story over the Scottish Open where he went and played 36 one day... or maybe it was the Open. Either way I'm sure there are some that are really able to separate rounds as a pro and competitively vs rounds for fun and are able to enjoy the game outside of their normal competing schedule.
  4. The one time I tried steelfiber shafts were in the Callaway Epic irons when we got a set as a demo and no lie i could no find the face at all. It was the worst feel I have ever had swinging a golf club. Put a Nippon or DG and all was fine. I'm sure it's a shaft that works for many but I certainly won't be going near them!
  5. Bringing back an older thread. Reason I searched for this was recently my favorite course did new flyovers drones and featured one a day on their instagram page. The course is The Rise in Vernon, BC Canada. It is a Fred Couple design and has gone through some changes, which I'll admit I'm not the biggest fan of however the course itself is just awesome. The views are top notch, the difficulty is there, but hitting fairways means you can score well and there is also a ton of variety in the holes. https://www.instagram.com/golftherise/?hl=en Really encourage you to check it out and let me know what hole you think is best! My second favorite course Arrowtown in Arrowtown NZ did a similar thing last year on their IG page. Again check it out! Love when courses do these.
  6. The only other part i would add is coverage is bad enough trying to follow one main story line and often important portions are missed. Having two major things for them to focus on would only create more havoc and disjointed viewing experience.
  7. They use to have it that way didn't they and they changed it because it was confusing for watchers because you could win the event but not the championship and it just had a really weird feeling. If memory serves it was Rose and Tiger but I don't exactly remember who win what.
  8. I'm sure there may be a price attached to various fitters and it may depend on how much you are looking to spend. However TXG is one of the top companies in the world for fitting so there would be your top choice. Not sure how many openings they have right away either. Outside of that various golf courses should have fitting centers, GolfTown isn't the worst in the world either considering it is often free as well. Lots of options for you, but price will play a part and potentially brands.
  9. Interesting that bag slip seems to be a theme amongst several here and others I've spoken to. It honestly isn't anything I've ever even thought about. With the Clicgear its never been a issue and things are pretty tight overall, same goes for other bags and carts i've used. At least it is something to keep in mind if I go and purchase a different cart in the future!
  10. I am a Rapsodo user, but am looking at updating to a better device such as a GC3 or Bushnell so this is perfect timing. With the growth of the game and wanting to play indoors as much as outdoors with weather being often too hot or too cold these have really never been more relevant. What do you own? What would you purchase if you could today? Check out the full article here: https://mygolfspy.com/buyers-guide-best-personal-launch-monitors-2022/
  11. I did get a update saying they are in customs! So monday? unless by some miracle they show up tomorrow, but we have work and Zoo with Ivan so not likely I'll be home to get them anyway.
  12. It's sad but I'm just putting two and two together... 923's releasing on 9/23. Props to Mizuno for the cleverness.
  13. I wonder what the reaction would have been if roles were reversed and PGA whoever had subpoenaed LIV folk while they were conducting all their backdoor stuff. Crappy part is I truly just want all of this to be over and for golf to get back to being golf and fun to watch without all this background noise which no matter what clouds how I feel about the pro game and unfortunately this is still going to go on for years and years and years.
  14. https://www.golfmonthly.com/news/tiger-woods-and-rory-mcilroy-served-subpoena-by-liv-golf Just wow. Yet LIV has NDAs left right and center and won't disclose contracts. This is going to get way uglier.
  15. So many putter companies! Wonder if there are any relatively unknown iron oems that may break through soon.
  16. Went to visit the Single Putt guys today. Took lots of photos and will do up a little article on it later this week/weekend. Was a ton of fun, got to test a bunch of putters and got some cool insights into their shop, process and more.
  17. Certainly a interesting take. I think we had a thread discussing pro caddy vs other. Personally I believe it is player dependent on what they want/need to be successful, however there are of course a wide range of opinions on it. Enjoy seeing Brooke play well and was happy to see her finish strong this season.
  18. Currently stuck in transit. Was hoping they were going to arrive today but am guessing it will be closer to monday or later
  19. Awesome article from Harry! Would love to see more in this series and was a fun read. This is certainly different from some of the content on the main site, but one I really enjoyed and gave me the itch to get out there playing. Give it a read here: https://mygolfspy.com/how-difficult-is-whistling-straits/ What do you think you would shoot?
  20. I'm a big Hovland fan. He's been awesome for fantasy and i just like his game and his overall swagger. Have to admit after reading this article it gave me even more appreciation for him and his game. https://golf.com/travel/viktor-hovland-lofoten-links-norway-course-record/?amp=1
  21. On the forum we stay to the US embargo dates as will the main site. Companies such as Mizuno and others have been great to the forum in the past with testing opportunities and we would rather not bypass their embargo dates just because somewhere else they are available. Of course feel free to check out the japanese site and share thoughts as well as what you may want to buy or test, but in terms of photos and such again we will wait till the US embargo date passes and then it is open season!
  22. A couple days late on this, but certainly worth reading and checking out! https://mygolfspy.com/titleist-tour-speed-ball-review-2022/ Would you put this ball in play?
  23. I'm someone who has never really used a range finder, but as arccos ended up dying on my android device and just not working and my "arccos iPhone" had a dead battery I certainly felt somewhat lost on the course... not to mention here we use Meters not Yards it throws quite a wrench into the game so I'm always on the lookout and enjoy seeing reviews on slightly more budget friendly rangefinders. Without providing any spoilers this may be one to check out for anyone in the market depending on what you want and need in a rangefinder. Check out the article here: Rangefinder Review
