  1. Horizon Forbidden West :).... So so good.
  2. Added to this point with release cycles and this being a early season article with only Cobra/Cleveland/Callaway/Tour Edge and TM officially releasing their new 2022 drivers it makes sense that the Srixon and Ping are still there. It is the current driver that is being used and last year I believe when the Most Wanted Driver results were completed the 410 was still Pings "current" model.
  3. Although I haven't been a extreme golf junkie till joining the site and wasn't deep into the equipment side of things until say 8 or so years ago I have an appreciation for some of the classics and I want to add a new one to the Modern Classics... or propose it to be thrown in. This iron is the Ping i210 This iron came out in later 2018 and is still at the moment a current club in Pings lineup. It launched the same time as the much hyped i500 which for all its amazing looks was somewhat lackluster and didn't receive nearly the praise that the i210 came to earn. Launching along side the i500 it also got a little bit forgotten about. I was fortunate enough to test the i210 for MGS Forum back in 2018 and remember the i500 testing thread getting a lot more views and traction. However after looking back the i500 had some faults and altho a great iron was certainly not loved by all. The i210 went on to get many many professional wins on a variety of tours, holds up in the looks department and as for mine still are amazing when it comes to durability. For a iron that wasn't as hyped at the beginning it has slid under the radar and been competitive in most wanted testing year after year and again nearly 4 years after launching is still a current club. For me I think this puts it into a category that not too many other irons recently can go into. It is a club that has held its own over product cycles and even though ping isn't known for coming out with new irons year over year it has still not been touched. With the new releases of the i59 and i525 maybe now it will finally be fully fazed out, but I want to give a call out to a iron that has just been stellar for so many for so many years. What others come to mind when you think of a modern classic? For those who are new and may have missed it here are the reviews of these beauties!
  4. https://mygolfspy.com/2022-most-wanted-driver/ Here it is! Live and up and ready to read!
  5. The course I worked at and group I played in had this tradition. I would choose to not partake and instead be sure to get a round or two at the clubhouse after (it should be noted they did as well). It wasn't as tho they were bringing in cases and with this group birdies were maybe 1 per round so it really was a bit of a special occasion. I should also note that the first hole for me was a reachable par 5 and when starting a round at 6am I was often hesitant to make a birdie as didn't want to get them going too early haha... but yeah it was okay with the club as typically it was a flask of whisky... not cases of beer which was not allowed. I think there is a fine line with it and supporting the course is way more important then having a sip of your own whiskey for a birdie, but the tradition I do like. Buy a few rounds before heading out onto the course and if a birdie is recorded then have fun with it!
  6. Week 4: Genesis Invitational Recap Another week and another new winner on the tour season. Niemann comes home with a wire to wire win! Congrats to him and a fun weekend of golf. Sadly I didn't watch any of the weekend and only saw Thurdsday/Friday play, but the course looks firm and fast and well awesome as its Riv. Along with the tour having a new winner we have another new leader ontop of our overall standings with @jddaigneault climbing this way to the top. Just goes to show how much can change in a week! It really is a enormously long season and consistency will be key in getting through the season successfully. We had 6 teams crack the 220 barrier and one who came oh so close with 219.5. I still think this is a good number for referencing. @blackngold_blood took home the title for high scoring team of the week with 257.15 points! A huge week and he had a few close and hot on his tail for the title this week. Our league median seems to have found a sweet spot around the 160 mark for most weeks (majors it will climb with bonus points) and this week is no exception as it finished at 159.7. The forgotten players - Now that we are one month into the season I thought it would be good to look at our season leaders in points so far. Some names may surprise you and some may not. It is still early after all and wins definitely bump players up, however it is still telling for some of the top players so far this season. Now we are onto Honda... a interesting field, but it is still golf and fantasy points and wins are still up for grabs! Good luck all and thanks for reading!
  7. Check out these as we had a few of our testers review these irons! https://forum.mygolfspy.com/tests/3-full-bag-reviews-cobra-connect-5/
  8. My mom is in town... Well on the same continent so it has more been balancing that. Little Ivan lives watching the Olympics and sleeps most all day and a good 6 hours at night so that certainly hasn't been the issue!
  9. Hoping to catch some this evening but it has been s super busy last few days with little time to actually watch TV. Happy i had 3 of 5 maker the cut in fantasy, but disappointed i haven't been able to watch more add i really enjoy this tournament and course.
  10. I think we are past that point. His stance and viewpoint is just so upsidedown. The "tour" has given him so much. In terms of opportunity, money and so much more. For so many of us we can't imagine every having his worth ever and his stance on being slighted by the tour is just backwards. I was never a big Phil fan, but am completely baffled by his woe is me I'm being cheated attitude while acknowledging the severe issues arrive the Saudi league and still attempting at using it get what not money? Also remember this is the guy that just got 8 million for being popular on tour with the PIP. Sorry Phil, but I truly think there is no coming back from this.
  11. Everything seems pretty tight lipped. I did hear about a bunch of courses which are rumoured and for it to start sometime in June, but that was about it.
  12. It changes our Fantasy Golf league in a major way! These guys leaving mean there will be some 1st round picks that end up being busts to a huge degree and may cost someone a coveted golden ticket! I'm half joking.... half not. Some of us take the fantasy golf to heart more then we should and therefore this impacts us a good amount. From a peer viewing of golf I couldn't care less.
  13. I'm hesitant to call NLU click bait. Their review podcast was nearly 2 hours long and that topic didn't come up for at least a hour twenty. I'm a big fan of NLU and their content. Whether it be interviews/weekly recaps or trap draw random everything. They truly love the game and want to see it be as good and successful as possible. Them raising this in their podcast and them having their contacts or sources makes it seem like it has some truth to it... nor do they at any point say Bryson is done 100% with the PGA tour. Yes, I won't deny we live in a click bait world without question. However I wouldn't point the finger at NLU for trying to do this. Pretty sure they were the ones that broke the news of Bryson firing his caddie before anyone else as well.
  14. Want to make your own review on a product and follow our testing template? This is a generic template to follow, however uses the same star rating system that any of the "official reviews" will have for this season and moving forward. (half stars are okay as well). The generic template gives you the opportunity to be a little more creative while following the same general template we will use for any and all official tests. Here it is: Member Review Testing Template Please please use the search function before creating a new thread as many of these products/reviews can be posted into existing threads. We can add in a front end message like this one to the top of the thread linking your review to make it more visible on request as well. This helps us keep the forum cleaner and without too many repeating threads. Have more questions? Reach out to myself @GolfSpy_APH or any of the other mods.
  15. I'll be honest it isn't that bad. Of course you would love to select more then the allotted amount, but the appropriate names usually stick out and after the mods have all put in their notes or selections for the short list there is often enough overlap that it only takes a short discussion to fill in. It also helps that we want to get new members involved. One small thing (well maybe not so small) that we are hoping to accomplish is year round testing. It may mean that smaller items/training items get pushed closer to the offseason (think putting matts, putout, spornia, exoputt, superspeed and the likes) so not only can we get more reviews, but more members involved in the testing process. Still more to be done on this front, but something we are certainly hoping to achieve.
  16. Apollo is never far from his new little brother!
  17. That is a interesting take as he could in theory do Long Drive and Saudi League? Something I didn't really think of.
  18. I know there are some MGS fantasy teams that would care a lot! haha
  19. I don't think anyone can deny there are set backs with just about any company. That is part of the risk in coming out with something new and away from the norm. I don't believe that should give us reason to be too concerned here. Also 20 years is a long long time and technology has progressed a long ways since then. So yes I do believe a carbon face from 20 years ago may not have been great, however with where we are at now I can certainly see it working. This is not to say that there could not be potential faults here and there (for reference I had my callaway driver basically blow up on me this summer and it has only been used for maybe 2 seasons). I think we could go round and round on this topic, but until I see a caved in face or significant damage to a normally used club I'll choose to believe they have a solid product EVEN if I don't intend on making a purchase this year on one.
  20. I'll admit I don't know all the details and am going off of what I heard from the NLU podcast. However they were leading us to believe that Bryson has been talking about not playing on the tour again. I find this hard to believe and think he will for sure be back at the very least for the majors and other bigger events like The Players, however he is currently "injured" and hasn't played since the Sentry I believe? His website has him plalying in the Sony which he pulled out of and no other PGA tour events for this season? Of course there is a ton of speculation going around and every day I seem to see a new article of Bryson has been offered X amount to go play away from the PGA tour and I have no idea the truth of these, but could he really be done with the PGA tour? Is he the first of many that could be walking away?
  21. Maybe I'm missing something, but couldn't a player who places their ball leave the tee marker in play check the shot out and do all of that and if the ball moves just end up replacing it as it was before? Could this be the work around? Kinda like in Chess where if you put you hand on a piece you should move it and it is frowned upon to remove your hand and touch another piece to move? Basically the tee being lifted out of the ground is the player acceptance of the ball now officially being in play and applied to the rules as is? Or am I way off base? I'm not a rules guy and play by them, but do not going into the weeds of all in the ins and outs of all of them.
  22. Week 3: Waste Management Phoenix Open Recap! Another week done and dusted. Scottie Scheffler picks up a deserved win in a playoff vs Cantlay. A bit of a bitter sweet victory for all of us watching as I think all would have liked to see Theegala in that playoff after his standout performance all week. Exciting event to watch with hole in ones, beer cans being thrown all over, tough fast greens and overall a fun exciting event for our viewing on Superbowl weekend! Now onto the fantasy side of things! Our leaderboard after 3 weeks looks like this: This being a brand new format and season it is tough to say what record or win percentage you would need in order to have the best chance at making playoffs and it is REALLY early. That being said credit to @cciciora13 on his 89 wins through 3 weeks. Impressive to say the least! Our top scoring team of the week was @GolfSpy_APH with 266.7. Lead by winner Scheffler, runner up Cantlay and T5 Brooks. @Dawg061 was the other undefeated squad this week. Side note it is nice knowing you can still win out a week even if you do not have all 5 make the cut. Of course some extra luck is needed, but still nice as I'm slowly getting more guys making the cut each week. Our league average was the highest it has been so far at 174.8. As well we had 8 teams crack the 220 barrier. In terms of players left on the wire this week. Overall there wasn't nearly as much there, but still some points potentially left with these guys having been available for the WMO. We now move onto Genesis where Max Homa won last year. Another week with a lot of rostered players are in the field which I would guess means we don't have quite as much action on the waiver wire. Of course some big names were traded this week with the likes of Rahm, Morikawa and others moving teams. Al in all a fun week of golf and ended just in time to watch the Superbowl! Good luck to everyone this week and happy trading/waiver wiring and all that!
  23. I still believe they have a good product and despite the stories of some of these issues i have yet to see anything that would truly put me off the product. As a sum I've heard more positive then negative thing about it and will give credit to TM in theit ability to not put out a massively flawed product.
  24. I like it as well. Definitely more difficult. I haven't gotten a week right yet, but have slowly improved each week. I think there were benefits to both formats. Yes this is more engaging, but also requires players to pay more attention. Thats great for now, but how will be it be 16 weeks from now? I hope everyone stays engaged and having fun, but that is one benefit to the best ball is it is easier to field a team passively.
