100% true. I'm that guy. Huge handicap, and when I got fitted for my driver the pro's comment was "you sure don't swing like a 29." Being stubborn and taking penalties adds a ton to my handicap. I'm like Tin Cup waaay too often. "I know I can make that shot...." I could easily take 7-10 strokes off my scores in penalties alone. I literally walked out of a closing once because I needed a week to get something moved out of the garage, and the couple that were buying (I had given and given and given to them) weren't going to help me out. I ended up getting my week by walking out and having it rescheduled for a week later. Maybe not my best moment, but after everything I'd done to help them make it work, I wasn't in the mood for it. I don't see why not. I got grouped with the women's champion on base at Cherry Point many years ago. She was 70 if she was a day, and played a great game. Everything was straight down the middle. 150 - 175 off the tee, 125 second shot, wedge to the green and a lot of one putts. She kicked the crap out of me. Seems like a matter of perspective to me. Good question. Mostly because that's a distance I struggle with off the tee. I've hit a ton of fairway woods and hybrids, and can't find one I can hit worth anything. Every time I think I've found something I can hit well, I end up back with my Ping Eye2 2-iron. That's not necessarily a problem, but a couple of the courses I play regularly have several holes where a drive in the 200-230 range would be about right. 250-260 is just too much. Some of it's just curiosity, some of it's wanting to move on from the 2-iron. You've got to remember I'm playing to a pretty high handicap, and it's not because of the way I hit driver.
