Kkiser8609
So I've been playing x14 steel heads for as long as they have been out! Now I'm 30 and need a change. I know I don't hit them as far as new ex lofted irons. But I hit the greens! Any irons like out like them? Are should just I re-shaft?

Kkiser8609
I've hit most brands. Only my irons are old! I can't find any that hit as good or I just can't give them up .
McaseyM
Hey if it ain't broke.....It they're looking rough and you want to renew them, you can send them to get refinished and re-grooved, or see if you can find a set that has similar specs. MGS had a recent list of golf club refinishers http://www.mygolfspy.com/10-companies-that-can-make-your-clubs-standout/ What's in my bag: Driver : F9 10.5, Fujikura Speeder 757 TR Fairway F9 15.5° Aldila Rogue White 80X Hybrid: King F7 18° KBS Tour PROTO Hybrid 95 S+ Irons: z585 4i - 6i, z785 7i-PW, Nippon Modus 120X Wedges: CBX 50.11, 55.11, 60.10 TT DG S400 Black Putter: Honey Badger 34" Ball: Q-Star Tour
JudgeSmails
enough can't be said about demoing multiple sets to see what you like. What works for me, might not work for you. As your previous experience with irons, they are something that typically stays in the bag a long time. There are tons of good options out there, don't tie yourself down to a certain manufacturer and keep an open mind. Kanoito
If I'm not mistaken, those irons are from year 2000... there has been at least 50 different sets of irons released in the past 16 years. So it would be extremely challenging to provide a specific model to try... Go hit them all if you can afford the newest model... if not, you should still hit them all and look for a similar model from last season... Kenny B
Of course, as most here on the site say... Go see a fitter. They can recommend the best combination for you. It may be that your x14's are fine except maybe a shaft upgrade is necessary. If you are fitted into steel, an upgrade won't be very expensive; if graphite is a better fit, that can be expensive and it might be better to upgrade your irons anyway. How you swing and which irons fit your swing both in performance and feel will dictate your best option. BTW, I've found that your current gamers will always feel better than some new clubs because it's what you are used to. However, if new clubs perform significantly better, that feel will come with more reps. Trust the fitter to get you started. “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

JudgeSmails
A lot of places will do the fitting for free if you purchase the irons from them....$800 should be plenty to get a new set of irons, if you're sticking in the GI realm, you have many options, but make sure you demo first. All the major manufacturers have sets in that price range Driver: TR20 10.5* Hybrids: Epic SuperHybrid 3 18* Epic 4h 23* Irons: JPX900 Hot Metal 5-GW Wedges: CBX2 52* 56* 60* Putter: EV8 Ball: Tour BXS
