DownInOne
I've heard your arguments MGS and now that you have reviewed a product that is absolutely a worthless sham built on 4am outright lies via commercials.....I'm referring to the Hammer X......I think it's time you finally do a review on something that deserves reviewing! The Directed Force Putter made the Silver Hot list in Golf Digest and yet you choose to test things like the "Hammer X" and baseline off the shelf golf equipment from Walmart or maybe it was K-Mart or Target. Either way, I would never buy that crap and nobody else should either. Many MGS users and myself are interested in an actual test of the Directed Force Putter. We have been asking for such a test for months and instead you complain about some kind of mythical Gorilla Marketing Warfare along with stating that you don't review garage tinkerers or gimmicks. Personally I think the Hammer X broke both those rules. Even if the Directed Force Putter marketing stories were true I don't give three hoots about how someone markets when their product is getting rave reviews and has tour players using their equipment. It's time to squash the debates and review this putter! DownInOne
Interesting anger there... You do understand that the Hammer X post was intended to be fun right? I do completely understand that the Hammer X and the Walmart golf clubs were intended to be fun. Everyone should have fun from time to time but not when there are clubs that actually deserve some time in the spotlight. The maker of the Hammer X is a crook and to some extent it's great that his product was crushed by MGS and hopefully people will stay the hell away from 4am commercials that sell rubbish. My issue is that many users legitimately want DF putter tested and the more I read about it the more I want to see what MGS has to say about it. The biggest problem is that this club keeps getting kicked to the curb for reasons that have nothing to do with the functionality of the club and quite honestly I wish someone would explain why MGS is so against smashing the debates and arguments. Instead it seems like this product has been railroaded and products that don't deserve the time of day are reviewed. HighFade
If I were on staff, I think I'd take this as a compliment, misguided anger aside. MGS has a reputation for being sometimes brutally honest in the review process. The fact that he is complaining about not getting time in the spotlight infers that MGS review = spotlight. StrokerAce
.... I agree with HighFade... I think this is a compliment more than anything. It truly shows that MGS is not paid by anyone to review products and that a Hammer X driver will be reviewed right alongside a Callaway GBB Epic.... and furthermore if the Hammer X were the better driver MGS wouldn't be afraid to say so. In regards to the putter you mention - it does seem from your post that you must have asked that this be reviewed multiple times and either been rebuffed or are getting a bit impatient. At least I hope that is the case because if not your anger seems a bit misguided. You do realize that this is not "Golf Digest" with millions of dollars in capital and dozens of staff I hope. It's nice that this made the 'Hot list' and received a silver medal but I'd certainly be wary of that. That 'hot list' has been known to be --how can I put this-- "manipulated" in the past. Finally - if you feel like MGS doesn't review non mainstream putters that have become more popular I encourage you to take a look both at the MLA putter reviews and the Evnroll reviews. Neither of those come from a 'major' manufacturer yet MGS was one of the first to review them. Don't be discouraged - stick around - look around... there are good people here and I'm sure if you have an item that you'd like reviewed and present to the staff in a fair way they would do their best to make it happen. Fireinthehole
Interesting point, but without knowing if the company themselves chose to forgo being involved in the test or reached out to the site, I don't think it's fair to blame the site. One thing you can do, is buy it yourself and review it. Maybe include how it performs against a putter you have. I and other members have done this for clubs and other golf related items; that don't get a write up from this site. It might not be the same as an official test from the site. I would venture to say reading an actual players testament- especially if it's a good write up with some background- might convince others to check it out too. Heck maybe even the site. Just so you don't say I don't practice what I preach. I did a review for the Vice Golf glove, that I purchased myself last year, and it got included in this years glove testing. I believe highly in MGS and I love what they do and I trust in what they do. If I didn't I wouldn't be wishing for a testing. Several topics have been posted on this putter for many months with requests to be tested here and not just by me. You can search the forum for the responses. By the way I don't work for Directed Force in anyway. I actually have been debating purchasing an Evnroll based on MGSs review and having it in my hands shortly there after. I can't easily get my hands on a DF putter however due to the fitting process. It has to be custom made just for you. Anyway, I do understand that MGS is not a multimillion dollar company and that these things take time but again I ask that you search the forum for previous talks about this putter. Also I do know that the "Hot List" can be manipulated hence MGS doing the testing. I was one of the reviewers of the MLA putter and I had a blast doing the review. One of the most fun golf things I have done not to mention I learned how to do a ton of things with video editing. Thank you for the response and honestly this post is not in anger it's more frustration but since posting I have been informed of channels to help move the process of that putter forward. Kkaw1988
I agree with everyone I think you came across a bit strong. No judgement we have all been there. That said and excuse my ignorance you mentioned it has to be built custom for each individual "fitting process". I would think this also makes it more difficult to include it in a test scenario like the yearly tests. Considering multiple people are using the same equipment. I would put them in the boutique category based on that(could be wrong as I don't know anything but what's in this thread) which in the same way you don't see a lot of Lamb putters or anything like that as it's a process to get them built etc. But interesting comments and I'm sure all of the great staff would do their best to get it tested if it would work out and fit into their restrictions Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

hckymeyer
First I'm just helping out on the forum side, I have no say in what is or isn't tested. I will say this though, direct communication by whomever makes the decisions at DF and MGS HQ is probably going to be the best way to move forward. Side channel forum posts and indirect tweets aren't going to get the job done. Not having a retail sku and having each putter made for each individual tester does seem like quite a hurdle though.
