dang3rtown
I bought a Handcrafted Hzrdus Black 6.5 X-Stiff 62g tipped to 43" shaft from iopfer here on the classifieds (Note, he is an excellent seller! Fast and perfect condition). I have traditionally been a "set it and forget it" kind of guy but something just didn't feel right with my driver set up. I game a Callaway 816 alpha DBD with a stock Kurokage 65g stiff shaft. I figured the price was right, the shaft was just what I thought would work, why not try it? Well, I took my driver with both shafts out to the range today. The results were spectacular. I was blown away at what a difference the shaft made in both feel and performance. After warming up for 20 mins or so, I hit 10 balls with my stock set up. Pretty typical, 285-295 carry, not the tightest dispersion. I put the Hzrdus in and right off the bat, snap hook. The Hzrdus shaft is an inch shorter and much stiffer than my stock shaft, it took a second to adjust. Second shot, crushed it. Not sure how far because it hit a tree on the opposite side of the range that's 300 yards out and bounced back. Now, I was playing from the rear side of the range because I had my son with me and he likes to crawl around. So, second shot, same result. These are with yellow reduced flight balls btw. At this point I stop hitting with the new shaft. There are people on the other side of the range and I'm legitimately worried that I will kill someone. I put the old shaft back on to see if I'm doing something new. Nope, same old drive. I call it a day, new shaft is in the bag. My equipment tech. jhellrung
Cool story. Given the recent results on mgs driver testing, I wonder if it makes better sense to just fine a driver from a couple years ago and get it fit with a high quality shaft? Peaksy68
That great. Sometimes if the price is right an unfitted shaft is worth the gamble, not much to lose, potentially a big win like yours. What sort of swing do you have ie. speed, smooth or quick transition? It's amazing how often shorter shaft equals longer and straighter drive. 849 Pro Evenflow Riptide 6.0 F8 3 & 5 Woods Project X Evenflow Blue 6.0 TS2 7 Wood Project X Evenflow Blue 6.0 MP18 MMC - Project X LZ 5.5 Zipcore Wedges 50,54,58 - Project X LZ 5.5 MLA Tour Mallet 33" Z Star Pioneer bag buggy

Sent from my VS987 using MyGolfSpy mobile app It worked for me? I picked up the head new a couple months ago, a year or so after its release date for a third what it would have cost new. I swing a "heavy" 105mph, average carry is around 310-315 with the new shaft. Haven't been on the trackman yet but on my range, I know exactly where the ball is landing. I have a smooth take away and an aggressive transition. GeekingGolf
That is really amazing and truthfully it make a lot of sense manufacturers haven't made leaps and bounds on the heads for a few years I have been thinking of switching the shaft in my Nike Ignite 460 because no other driver so far has touched it for distance dispersion could be better though Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy "Obviously my iron play is incredible, and when I get going I can get hot, but this course just fits my eye.
