TJ Hall
Got to the course this afternoon…mid-50s in December in Virginia, couldn’t miss out! Spent some time on the practice green before playing 9 holes. Struggled with speed on the practice green (greens were much slower than my carpet upstairs!). Set a tee in the middle of the green and “played” 5 holes around (distances were 25’, 15’, 20’, 21’ and 15’). Completed 2 cycles through, finished each time with 10 putts (did 1 putt from 15’, then promptly 3 putted the next (was straight uphill and left the first putt way short)). Struggles with speed continued during the round. Finished with 15 putts, but I did chip in on a hole and had one 3 putt (40’ putt with a big right to left break and severely downhill, left myself 8’ short with the same putt). The Ai-ONE sits very nice behind the ball and is very confidence inspiring. Had no issues with starting lines, the ball comes off the face very cleanly. Did not struggle with getting the ball started on the line I wanted…hit a nice 4 footer with a fair amount of break. The course is in a park that is decorated for Christmas, which was nice to align the color scheme with the Ai-ONE! At this point, it would be hard to leave this putter out of the bag…I am really enjoying it! fixyurdivot, Rob Person, Preeway and 2 others 3 2 Quote TaylorMade SIM 2 Max Driver TaylorMade Sim Ti 3 wood Titleist U505 Hybrid (3H) TaylorMade Tour Preferred CB Irons (4-PW) Vokey SM8 Wedges (52/56/60) Odyssey Ai-ONE 7S Putter

Rob Person
With a rainy day and some spare time after watching the PNC, I decided to roll some putts inside. I have 2 matts, one is pretty fast, the other is about 75% of that. Putted 30 from the center, 30 from the toe, 30 from the heel, on each mat. For whatever reason, it seemed I had better results stroking from the toe side of the face. It felt alot firmer of a connection. I'd say toe averaged 9 out of 10 hit targets . Center was 7 out of 10. Heel was 5 of 10. I definitely have some work to do on my putting swing too. Also, came up with my first negative aspect of the putter. The blue finished coating seems to be coming off on the backside of the putter. It's very odd, as i have not dragged or hit anything with the back edge. Only time the back was used is to scoop up the ball on the practice greens. I see lots of the "white hot" inserts in play. I probably could have chose either the milled or non-metal insert for this test but had heard that the non-metal faces take a little time adjusting to distance wise. I feel I chose wisely as the milled face seems identical in rolling distance. Is anyone else seeing any signs of wear with their putters? Well, now that another has raised this topic, yes . I'm already starting to see some burnishing on the sole, primarily the leading edge. I probably have somewhere on the order of 350 putts with the Seven T CH. I did order a 1 degree strong loft and that might be contributing? Those that know me from other threads on this matter know that while I love the look of PVD coatings, the OCD side of me does not like the way they look after those coatings start to wear off. Yes, I've been told "it's a tool not jewelry", but I still don't like the look and have shyed away from colored finish clubs, preferring satin. Almost every review I've read here and from other sources show these coatings to be of limited life... as in not very long. I figured that the duty life of a putter, as opposed to irons, would allow the coating to last quite some time. I'll definitely cover this in my final review. Rob Person
How are you feeling about the sound of the putter/ball interacting? It was brought up in the AI-milled test, and thought I'd ask here too. I definitely prefer it over the mallet putter sound . It sounds more connected (not a hollow click I suppose?) I do notice a sound difference with the AI-ONE on the cheaper brand balls I've tested with too. They have a distinctly louder CLICK off the face. TJ Hall
There are definitely some different sounds across the face…some more “clicky” than others. I know the sound can be a put off for some, but for me it is about the performance. Even though it sounds different across the face, I don’t feel like there are hot spots where the ball jumps off the face. The ball seems to perform similar across the face for me.
