They changed their focus from a tour equipment company to a bargain company and many of us thought they would never be included with the Big Boys again. The nostalgic love for their irons has turned into appreciation of their current offerings. I think this current CB looks like it could have been made by Mizuno and that is such good news for Wilson and their fans. One of my first set of irons were the Wilson fat shaft. Oh how far they've come! hartrick11
I am actually partial to the prior blades that have been around for the last ~5 years but this version is no slouch and it looks like they may have gotten a touch friendlier as well...reasonable trade off if that is the case, though they are still above my pay grade... The CBs are knockouts too - feel like those are an improvement on what was already a great looking club! Did the tungsten go away in the CB long irons? Does anyone happen to know the blade lengths on these bad boys? The prior CBs felt a bit too squat for me at address in the long irons where I just want to hit as straight of a ball as possible. If they are still too squat, I'll be curious to see what the Dynapower forged look like for combo purposes...hopefully similar to these two beauties. When I was on staff with Wilson they put together a set of irons for me with Firestick titanium shafts and I had the pleasure of meeting Robert Mandrella and having him bend my irons. 2-gw and he had a plywood board with some black lines painted on it. No numbers or letters. I needed my irons bent 2* upright and he put one in an oooooold vice and with an equally oooooold copper mallet hammer that had been splayed open from years and years of use, and he gave it a good solid pound. Took it out and put it on the board, looked at a line and put it in my bag. He did this with every iron but one when he put it on the board and hit it a 2nd time with less force and didn't even check the board, just put it in my bag. It was an amazing experience watching one of the truly great craftsman display his artistry. ... I took them to Golfsmith to double check the specs since my playing pard was the Manager. Every single iron was perfectly on spec. The article says that tungsten is still in the toe of the long irons but I don't see evidence of it in photos. Maybe it was polished like the steel? @GolfSpy Barbajo Can you lend an assist here with the tungsten question? From the article: "There are echoes of both irons plus the 2021 Staff Model CB in this new club. It’s very much a simple forged cavity-back with some additional tungsten toe weighting in the long irons, plus the Fluid Feel hosel. There’s not much technology but, then again, it doesn’t need much." sirchunksalot 1 Quote Gameday Vessel Sunday 2.0/ Ogio Silencer Dynapwr Carbon | Hzrdus Smoke Black Mavrik 3w | Evenflow Riptide FG Tour F5 Hybrid(20,23) | MCA Fubuki Staff Model CB 5-PW | DG 120 Vokey SM7 (50, 54, 58) | DG 120 Studio Stock 15 -ProV1x (left dash) Romans 10:9 Classic Bag Jones Collegiate Clemson Stand Bag Eye 2 Laminate 1973 Staff Dynapower 4-PW Anser DUO
