ededmon
My current set up is Taylormade MG4 46, 50, 56. My irons are bent strong since I don't hit the ball as far as I used to, so this set up gets me from 115 and in reliably. Marty2Shanks
PW = 47 (133y), GW = 52 (120y), SW = 56 (107y), LW = 60 (94y) i play a traditional lofted PW. Would prefer a 46, 50, 54, 58 setup, but found the gaps too close between the 47 & 50. I play my wedges back in my stance which adds the extra distance. Have tried playing the ball more forward but don’t hit it as consistently. tdroma98 1 Quote Driver - 917 Speeder 757 X-Flex Woods/Hybrids - 913 series Aldila Riptide X-Flex Irons - 710/712 CB/MB Combo Set TTDG X100 & S300 Wedges - Vokey Spin Milled 52/56/60 Putter - Neo Classic ER2 Ball - Tour Speed/Soft Rangefinder - Tour V5 Shift
DarrenF
So I have a 49°, 53°, 56° and a 60°. Pretty sure that I'm going to remove the 49°, and just use my PW. And I'm probably going to opt for a 52°. I need to get a 4 iron back in the bag, so a wedge must go. Eltrain41 and tdroma98 2 Quote Love to golf, love to camp.

itsteetime
I play PXG PW(46), GW(52), SW(56) and LW(60). I am considering replacing the GW with a lower loft such as 50 to make it closer to my PW to keep a 4 degree gap between clubs. The SW and LW will stay the same as they are for inside 60 yards for accuracy than distance. Eltrain41
goldyml
I used to play 5 wedges. Now, older and shorte, I went down to 48, 52 and 56. Smellis745
I actually put my 5w back in the bag a couple of months ago and dropped a wedge. When I had 4 wedges, I had my gaps at PW 45, gw 49, sw 53, lw 58. I set my PW back to 46 and now use a 52/58. The main reason I changed is I found I was using that GW very little, maybe not even touching it in a round. I've never been one to take a full swing once a wedge was in my hand anyhow. I'd rather just grab a little extra and make a smoother swing than really attacking such a short club. I don't know about you guys, but my LW never goes 140 yards unless I'm making an aggressive 85 yard approach to a green with penalty behind it. What I was finding is that I'm in the 225-235 range on par 5s a lot more now. That was a good number for my DI, but it comes in way to hot. My 5w carry is in that 235ish range, but it lands so much softer and is actually easier for me to hit a draw when needed than my DI too. Considering my DI is one club I have zero desire to take out, my decision was pretty easy. fredsharky
On 3/29/2024 at 9:33 AM, Ryann87 said: Right now I play a mashup of wedge brands since I lost the PW (a 46 loft) to my iron set. I have a Callaway MD5 48 to replace the lost PW, a Taylormade Hi-Toe 56 and an old Accupro 60. Had a 52 but it was stolen. So I’m not loving the 8 degree gap between my 48 and 56. Just found a great condition PW (again, 46) that matches my set. Also just bought a set of 3 MD5 wedges, which are 52, 56, 60. So now I have a 46, 48, 52, 56, 60. My logic tells me to sell the 48 because 2 degrees between it and my 46 seems too close. But then I have a 6 degree gap between my 46 and 52. Also having trouble wanting to drop the 48 is because I love the way it feels and I’ve got really good with it. It’s the reason I decided to buy more MD5’s Wondering if anyone else has had a similar dilemma and what you did about it? As of right now I have this setup that works for me - the 3 degrees between my "PW" and "GW" are fine by me as you can see the gapping - I rely a lot on my wedges and hit a multitude of shots with them - so the gapping for me may be diff than someone else Titlleist SM9 - 45/10-F (46 bent to 45) - carry 135 Titleist SM9 - 48/10-F - carry 125 Cleveland RTX6 - 52 Mid/10 - carry 114 Cleveland RTX6 - 58 Mid/10 - carry 100 tdroma98 1 Quote Driver 1: Stealth 12 degree-Ventus Red 5-S Driver 2: 300 Mini-Hzrdus Smoke Yellow 60G Stiff (tipped to 44.5inch) 3 Wood 2: Sim2 Max-Fujikura Pro 65-S (higher ball flight) 5 Wood: Stealth-Ventus Black 6-S 9 Wood: Stealth-Ventus Red 5-R Irons: King Tour 2023-Fujikura Pro 95 Stiff - 6-9 - Fitted Wedges: SM9-45-10F Wedges: RTX 6 Tour Rack-48-Mid/10 Wedges: RTX 6-52-Mid/10, 58-Mid/10 Putter: HB SOFT Milled 10.5S-Fitted Balls - X1

Tgauthier21
I’m in the discovery phase here. my gap is a 49-degree Mizuno 923 forged. I previously had a 56 and a 60. Now I have a 54 and a 60, which I really like. But the gaps are big from 49-60. However, with a 3-wood and then 3-5 hybrids, I’m sort of stuck. I don’t use a 5-iron so I can’t scrap the 5 hybrid. The 3-hybrid is a weak one for me but ditching that creates a BIG gap from 4-hybrid to 3-wood. KevB_44
I play the set PW and Cleveland zipcores in 50, 54, and 58 When I got my Srixon iron set, the gap wedge wasn’t available. I gues it was serendipity as I ordered a 50 degree Cleveland RTX Zipcore and couldn’t be happier. I suspect it isn’t as hot as the Srixon set GW but I’m still getting 125 yards from the Cleveland that I need and probably with a bit more height. Additionally, I am honestly more comfortable with the Cleveland on half and 3/4 swings. I have even chipped with it instead of my 54. In the past my GW was pretty much a full swing club exclusively. I now feel like I picked up an extra club and will never go back to a set GW. puffler
Even after playing 50+ years my game still kinda sucks so spending tons of $$ on wedges is not worth it. I have all used but good condition wedges. Since my PXG Gen 3 PW is a 42 degree I had to get a 48 degree (Edel) to bridge the gap. Recently sold a Vokey SM6 52 degree and a Cleveland RTX 56 sand wedge and picked up a Cleveland 52 degree RTX full face and Cleveland Smart Sole 58 degree sand wedge that were both nearly new. Eltrain41
For whatever reason I've always played Cleveland wedges 60 and 56, and then use the Gap/Approach wedge that comes w/ my set which happens to be 50, plus the PW of course, so I guess that's 4 wedges. dlygrisse
T150 44,48 SM9 52, 58 i like this combo, I like a bigger gap between my Vokeys, it gives a more distinct trajectory variation on short game shots. When using a 54 I often found it was too similar to the 58. If I have a full swing distance gap I just open the 52 a bit and it works like a 54. I am a heavy believer that unless you are a scratch golfer (or semi-pro even) thats when using a 60 degree would help. Other degrees I can under stand preferences or to cover distance gaps. But someone who uses 60 degrees or more, better be able to hit flop shots like Phil Mickelson...otherwise its a waste of money lol. Quote What's in the bag? Julius
I am struggling with the same issue now, I am thinking to buy a new one and slot it in. My PW is 44.5, the UW is 49.5 and also have a TM Hightoe that is 58 - so I have too much space between the 49.5 and the 48. I am looking to get a 54. The gaps are too big to bend them a degree. Yours are closer I would go with bending the Hightoe but also make sure you just hit them all to gap first then find which ones to keep - I wouldn't get rid of the one you are very comfortable and able to work, will always be an asset.
