Medfloat
Sounds like the fitter did his best to filter through a bad swing day. Did he have access to your fitting data from your previous PXG fitting? Could that be why the fitting was fairy short? FallenSaber
@Medfloat the prior fitting was just for the driver so I'm not sure how helpful that information would be for an iron fitting. I think it was short because there were some things that were predetermined. I was there specifically for the Black Ops so there would be no need to go through the other options for clubs. Some of the things we might have discussed was covered by the call the day before. It wasn't the fitter who called me but I'm sure he was given my responses. I think it would have been good to go through some of those questions in-person to help spur discussions of my game since I'm a bit more of an introvert so getting an opening to ask a question would've helped me. In hindsight, there's certainly things I could have done to improve the overall experience but as you mentioned, I think the fitter did his best with what I gave him to work with. I hit longer clubs off the toe (will post pics in my main post), I hook, not fade, and we will see on average distance. FallenSaber
Some side-by-sides of the 2022 XCOR2s and the new Black Ops. FallenSaber
The morning back 9 at Torrey North today was a success! Had some good shots and some questionable shots. Overall, I shot a 46, 10 over par. I'd say that's a good round for me. I had 3 pars and missed a birdie on the par 5 #17 by two inches. I didn't hit the 5 iron all that great but all the other irons and wedges, I hit fairly well. And maybe got some promotional shots for PXG and MGS along the way, haha. This one is from the teebox on #15. This one is from the rough on #16, looking back towards the teebox and La Jolla cove in the background. Overall, I was happy from the performance of the Black Ops irons and wedges. I really enjoyed the PW and GW. I thought they performed very well. I did not notice any real gain to distance but it was only 9 holes. I'm planning on going to a range not too far from me this week that has SkyTrak in every bay so I can get some real numbers. Here's my hole of the day. Had a terrible hit with my 3 wood but it stayed in the fairway which set up my PW which was a near perfect shot. USMCSnyper
OK all - I was able to get out late Friday for a quick 9 holes. I was able to set up my shot scope watch to capture my new iron performance. Most of them, I only hit once. A couple things to note:1-The driver average is a misnomer, as I completely duffed one as someone blew an air horn. Kinda funny, but kinda not.2-The 5 wood was a punch shot, so I’m ok with that distance.3-The 4i is actually the 5 iron. I lost the 5i shot scope tab, so I used the 4i one. I hit 2 tee shots with the 5. The first one went 200, and straight. It was a low flight shot, but carried forever. I’m was sure that it was an outlier, so I teed another one up. I hit it 194. Saying I was in shock is an understatement. 4-Overall, I really struggled with the irons because of their length. I chunked the 7 iron and Gap every time I hit them. I don’t hit the 8 iron clean, but it was ok. The 9 iron was hammered(for me). A lot more to do and test. Mixed results for ME so far, but not bad. The irons sound a bit clicky, to me. That said, if you hit them square, WOW these have a hot face. 2 legit shots of a 5 iron carrying 190? Granted this is the loft of a 4 iron, but still. Overall, I think PXG has a winner on their hands. I need to tweak my aggressive transition a bit to be more consistent.
