PXG Black Ops Irons - 2024 Forum Review

Are you hitting them a club longer then, or maybe a little more or less.

In the Gen 7's I'm testing, for instance, they are identical lofts to my old gamers throughout the set. However, I'm 5-8 yards longer with the PXGs across the board.

I am pretty close to that as well if I step on them.

These clubs are 1 club stronger than my T300s. The loft of the Black Ops 7 is the same as the T300 6iron. This is consistent throughout the set, for me.

bama no 1. Sorry to hear that your thumbs are broke:)

It took me all of 30 seconds to find that the loft is 28 degrees on the Black Ops 7 iron.

Hope your thumbs heal up ok.

The black ops 7 iron and my T300 6 iron are both 28 degrees.

Alright gentlemen, after playing with the vc200 and hitting the range with it, I have come to the conclusion that not only is it inaccurate, it's very inaccurate..will not be using the numbers in my testing

PXG swing speed went back and forth between 78-82 mph

PXL_20240808_1847390112.jpg.e2d54fbd84bf4e2b9109149cc63e6820.jpg

VC200 high is 67 with a low of 55

PXL_20240923_193215798.jpg.c61223452ad08a33c2c5b8768504e64e.jpg

Bc of what the numbers were doing I brought with me to the actual range to check it out.. of course can't measure speed at my range but distance and carry were 20+ yards different at certain points.. Could this be bc I bought it second hand and it was use to someone else's swing? I reset the data to all 0s so previous swings and data shouldn't matter, right? Anyone have a suggestion on how to fix the problem?

The biggest thing I see with these are ensuring they're set up exactly as the manual says they need to be. I have an SC300 and it needs to be at exactly the proper distance and even with the position of the ball being hit. It can't be below the hitting area or much above it. Level is best. I think the SC200 needs to be in that 3.5-5 foot range behind the ball to be most accurate. Also ensure the firmware is up to date. Otherwise reach out to support and let them know your issues and see if they can further direct you.

It's so close between these two that honestly I think it comes down to feeling and looks..I could take either to the course and be happy with my irons!

Yea, numbers aren't separating these clubs.. On the course to me is where the black ops take a lead..it's not fair to the xcor2's bc I didn't get them fitted, but the black ops seem to have the better control with the mishits.. time after time when I mishit the BO and it fades right I'm 5 yards off the green, with the xcor2's I'm 35 yards off the green

Do you attribute the better dispersion to being fit? What loft/lie are your BO vs the xcor?

I have a cobra rad speed driver, cobra fly z 3 and 5 wood, taylormade m1 irons (5-PW), Top Flite Gamer wedges (52,56,60), and odyssey white ice putter. When I’m playing to keep score I typically play the Maxfli Tour X. When just getting a round in with friends or scrambling I play whatever I might find on the course or might find at the bottom of my bag.

1 weak loft/standard lie.. I'm getting a higher apex and better overall trajectory with the BO long and mid irons with close to the same numbers as the xcor2's, so definitely better for myself as far as sticking those greens.. Short irons (8 & 9)the apex is close to the same between the two, but the distance is a little better with the BO..I do think the fitting helped, especially with the long iron apex and getting the right shaft in my hands.. The extra inch+ helped

So new shafts and plus 1 inch really seemed to help. It blew my mind when I learned how much different shafts changed performance with the same club head

Well, I shot an 81 earlier this week, which was incredible. I am getting repeatable results with good swings, and better than expected results on less than perfect. The forgiveness is really top notch!

Great round! Are you still having to choke down on the grip?

I'll see what I have left in the tank after my long game fitting on the 11th. Maybe they'll let me just add in the 30 minute challenge afterwards. 🙂

Just snagged a tee time to play Torrey South on Tuesday, October 1st. Who wants to join me? It says 9 holes but that's because it's a twilight round.
