  1. I picked my ball up on the first green last week and it had the blue dew on it. I wiped it on my towel and probably 4 holes later wiped some sweat off of my forehead. This meme is pretty much the reaction I had.
  2. Ralph Lauren still makes forward and reverse pleated khakis, shorts and slacks."Hammond" and "Andrew" are the style names, and they still carry them at almost every Polo outlet.
  3. I'm not against it, but I wouldn't wear one. I already have 671 swing thoughts and feeling a hood shifting position doesn't need to be 672. I support 7-11 dress code: no shirt, no shoes, no service.
  4. I would be interested to know how they perform. I have talked a boatload of trash about them using the same logo as they use on their Toilet Paper and Rotisserie Chickens, so please, let me know how they go so I know if I need to start working on jamming my size 15 foot into my mouth or not.
  5. Lots of solid advice here. I currently have a 48 PW, a 51, 56,58. I have tried the 54&58 combo, and the 51&56 at times. The pro that ran the course I worked at as a kid was a short game monster. This guy could hardly keep it in play off the tee and was scratch. He had a 56&60. He told me he looked for wedges based on the types of shots they could produce, and he used everything except his woods from 100yds and in and never three putted. Theres some value there. I practice every type of shot as much as I can, and use the 7 on down to bump and run and pitch it when there's grass. I keep a wedge with nice bounce for sand, and depending on the course, either a gap wedge or a flop shot type wedge. I like the bounce in the sand, so that never goes away. I guess both of us grew up without access to specialized gear, but it really depends on how and where you play and the types of shots you want to hit. Great work dropping your scores so far, keep at it and your hard work will definitely pay off.
  6. When I lived in Maine I too practiced bunker shots in the snow. I had a little chipping mat and would chip and putt in the hallway upstairs. I also had some of those foam balls and would hit them against the garage wall to work on trajectory. I also bought a momentus (which was the hot deal at the time) I would work on keeping a groove. Otherwise, I'd work on strength training. I honestly am not the biggest fan of putting practice, but by snow month 4, I would be so excited to get home and can that full hallway triple breaker.
  7. Totally worth it. I have put almost 100k on my Forte with zero problems, just oil, tires and such. Probably just cursed it, but it's the best car I've ever had, and have driven everything from Chevy to Mercedes.
  8. I pay 185 a month for a Kia. I LOVE that little thing, but the payment is so irritating that I probably won't finance another. But a 60k truck?
  9. I'm still somewhat new around here, but seems like an icebreaker... I woke up a couple of days ago with a sore throat, and at work, started having heart problems. Went to the ER. I got a positive COVID test, my wife and 3 year old daughter also tested positive. We have a 3 month old son that's too young to test, but seems inevitable. Its our daughter's 3rd birthday Saturday, and we got her some rollerskates and a little putter since she always wants to play with my "golf ball sticks" I'm feeling OK and trying to stay positive. Any good thoughts you can send are appreciated. I've had a great time on this forum taking my mind off it, and I'm trying to stay focused on passing the PAT next summer. A real high point was @fixyurdivot@fixyurdivot sending me a driver to replace my ancient 975J. Thanks to all you guys for your support, and keep the content coming, it's a fantastic distraction.
  10. I am a huge Zig Ziglar fan. I listen to him regularly. Id recommend Biscuits, Fleas and Pump Handles. Totally changed my mindset the first time I heard it. He says the reason most people don't reach their goals isn't lack of time, but lack of direction. Are you a meaningful specific or a wandering generality?
  11. I just need an excuse to have 9 sets of Hogans! Does it feel like passing the pearly gates when you go into your club room?
  12. Yeah, I love @Chip Strokes play here. I would definitely say this is attacking the pin, but if it works, I won't argue with results.
  13. Beautiful clubs. I am a complete Hogan junkie and love to see any set. Those are great.
  14. Thanks for the feedback, and I even had a set of MP-33's for a while in between Hogan irons and liked them a lot, so I feel you there. And who cares if you didn't pay for them? They're still the same clubs and your opinion is just as valuable. All of these glowing reviews are making me consider the unthinkable, replacing my trusty Apex Plus.
  15. Great to hear. It looks like the new stuff is really living up to the original by all accounts. I have been thinking about the demo, I just know myself well enough to know if I like them they will be tough to send back.
  16. Love this. There's always that period of time where everything feels weird, but it usually helps. I had a pro tell me to hit a bucket of balls with an absurdly weak grip. My hand was so far over, it felt hard to hang on to the club. I have always hooked it, and forcing the hand that far kept my plane shallow and forced a fade. I have a pretty neutral grip now, but will practice that from time to time and it has done wonders going out to in. Obviously a different circumstance, but unsettling at first. Now, do you offer putting lessons?
  17. Sounds awesome! Had no idea Titleist had a certification like that. Sounds like you hit the jackpot.
  18. I grew up in Springfield, MO where Payne was from, about an hour north of this course. That whole complex with Top of the Rock, Ozark National and now this course, along with a couple others is really trying to give the big name golf resorts a run for their money. Bass Pro owns it, and you used to be able to play a round for free if you bought a set of irons from them. I'd love to play them all some day. Theres tons of great courses in that area, most underrated being Rivercut in Nixa. Payne played an exhibition there when it opened, and I remember losing a dozen balls on that course the first time I played it.
  19. "When I was your age, my mother told me not to get a tattoo of Roy Orbison. But what momma don't know won't hurt her."
  20. I still game a Scotty Newport 2 mid slant my grandpa got me right before he died of cancer in 2000. He used to watch me practice from the truck when I was a kid, and I like to use it because it feels like he's still around. Not really a huge fan of the putter itself, but it has massive sentimental value. I take it out of my bag and bring it into the clubhouse with me so no one steals it. I have tried others, but it they just don't feel right. I'll probably use it for the rest of my life, I'll just have to wait at the shop someday for a week while they refinish it.
  21. Thanks so much, this post has really brought a lot of good people into my life.
  22. As an Auburn fan, I am less than excited to announce the 2020 season is over. War Eagle!
  23. I have never tried them, but Spalding used to make the Hogan Apex Tour, and it was a solid ball. They have been at it for a while, so I would have to imagine they aren't garbage. I'll pick some up and give them a try, always fun to be surprised by something most people don't look twice at. Thanks for sharing.
  24. I am in love with the Ball Lab series. I have tried playing Srixon balls at every level, and have never liked them. The covers always get damaged and they seem to lack consistent flight across the box. I, like many of you, have picked them up in the buy one get one promotions, but after the last time, I knew that was it. I find it interesting the balls I have preferred have come out on the better end of the ball lab testing, while balls like this and the Chrome soft have performed at a lower level. While I would like to think of myself as a hitting machine, thats probably not the case, so I really feel like these tests are real deal. Thanks, MGS for providing the data to keep us in the fairway.
