    Hello all,
while it’s 49 here right now here in VA, the wind is picking up and it’s Sunday. Trying to decide on whether or not to go anywhere or just take a chill day and relax. Leaning more towards relaxing since working to get our chicken coop back to good order after the crazy wind storm last week. Improvised with what the wife wanted to do by having the little tikes houses made into shelters for the chickens now. We are trying to figure out where to move the coop now so we don’t have to worry about our pups running around trying to herd them while they’re in the coop. That’s been fun. Stay warm today folks.

    Greetings Spies,
Late to a good morning post. I was puttering around an empty house while SWMBO is snowshoeing in Wyoming. It is strangely quiet since Riley passed. I got a light workout in. I will be making my lasagna, a family favorite, for my brothers in law. We will be watching some football. I watched the first half of yesterday’s blowout first game. I missed the second game. I’m not a Peacock subscriber and don’t have the desire for yet another streaming subscription. The price isn’t the issue but the attitude of the NFL on selling the playoffs to the highest bidder has put me off. I’m sure the future will be all playoffs will have to be paid for. That will simply free up some time for me to do something else.
    Wishing all a wonderful day!

To be fair, they never came out and said “forgiveness”. They called it “Fargiveness” last year. That’s why they put a video out with the tour players trying to not hit the center of the face and Tiger just couldn’t do it. But it was to show how far they could still hit it with the forgiveness across the face. So no they didn’t come out and try to sell “forgiveness” in that exact word.

It’s probably the most unknown territory though. It’s like the Takomo Driver when I came out, unknown of what it might be like or if it could even compete with the big names.

It's funny, I said either the TM or Cobra yesterday when this popped up, mainly because I haven't played either before. I was bored earlier and did the online fitting on MGS thru the True Fit and it said I should be hitting the Stealth 2 HD or the AeroJet LS.
The new ones may be on the list this year to give a go.

When they first showed us what the drivers were called and looked like  I was sure I wasn't going to get another driver for 2024. Then I thought Wow! the Darkspeed looked so nice as I have always thought Cobra put out some nice looking drivers especially their limited Edition ones. I have played all of last years drivers and I have had goof results from all of them . I don't want to go with just looks alone but the Callaway face tech is very intriguing, plus all of my other woods are Callaway and I want to keep my set evenly matched as much as possible.  PING looks too big as I do like how they made it look like the LST model with the carbon wrap. Oh and the fins well you either hate them or love them.
TaylorMade would always brag on how much more forgiving and longer their new drivers were from the last years model and now they all I hear about is that the Stealth and Stealth 2 + were not all that forgiving compared to the Qi10. With the issues with the face that they have had I'm staying away from them plus the bottom looks cheap but top view looks a bit like a Titleist driver which is good if you like a shinny crown.
Well enough belly aching for now as I went with the Paradym Ai Smoke Max D but nothing more to say as I have got well over 2 more months to wait before I see any warm weather again. So whatever anyone decides to get I'm sure their is a good reason for their purchase.

    No love for the Kirkland?
This is most definitely going to be the headliner for Monday and then we will see a nice group of responses to see what is really exciting the community!

Just going off looks I selected the Cobra divers. Though the Callaway face tech is very intriguing.

There really needs to be an option for “I don’t know because I haven’t hit any of them yet” Going purely off looks is meaningless. Also, what shaft options are available. Without a fitting, even online it’s really a guessing game. I get the excitement around new releases but if it doesn’t perform better than what’s in the bag it won’t be purchased.

I was using the vice tour ball but switched to the vice pro. I have some of the Wilson triad balls which I believe were in the top 3 under 40 bucks. Going to give those a go when it starts warming up this year.

to your point about low lofted clubs, I have a 9 degree driver head. I’ve also lofted my 5 and 7 woods down as well to their lowest loft. But I can tell you I need more loft in my irons now cause roasting a 7 iron 198 and hitting it flush, pretty sure I need to not be using a 28 degree 7 iron.

As Jamie mentioned golf ball is big. I have found my best results with low lofted heads as loft affects spin more than anything. I usually have the best luck pairing it with a mid to high launching shaft or lightweight shafts.

As for golf balls, last year I played the Chrome Soft X LS ball but switched to the Titleist ProV1X left dash and according to the Mevo and the Full Swing simulator for winter leagues I dropped another 400rpms off my spin with that switch alone. They aren’t cheap but as I don’t lose a ton of balls, they are totally worth it for me.

    Cobra Supernova Putter

Let’s talk about a few things first. When you think of putters you are most likely going to think of Scotty Cameron’s, Odyssey’s, Evenroll, Bettinardi, Ping, or even Taylormade. No one would fault you in those thoughts. Myself, I’ve never been one to go with anything more expensive than $120 dollars for a putter. My thought process behind this was that the more expensive it was doesn’t equate to better performance.

That changed when I saw the Cobra Supernova putter. The look of it stood out to me over any other putter I’ve used. The “Batwings” if you will, were not a shape I was accustomed to seeing on a putter. No, I was used to just straight lines on wings or a rounded rear of some putter types. This caught my eye as I started hitting it inside Golf Galaxy. To this point I had been using a Wilson South Side putter or an Odyssey White Hot Rossie Pro putter. Both of which were great at times depending on how fast the greens were. The artificial turf inside seemed like it was rolling true. Then I looked at the price tag, 349. Why would I spend that much on a putter? As I was contemplating my life choices about this I remembered in the app it said it was discounted to 199. I decided I was going to go all in and trade my two putter in and get this one.

Now like I said, the aesthetics I fell in love with. Who couldn’t? Beyond that I started to fall in love with the sound off the face. Almost a click letting me know I hit it properly. The SIK face assured me that I was going to have it roll the proper way every time.

Then, the harsh reality came into play. I wasn’t a good putter to begin with, and this didn’t make my putting struggles disappear. What I did find was I did have better distance control on longer putts of 10+ feet. Where I used to leave myself either the same distance coming back or leaving myself short by 5 feet, I saw I was closer now.

I will be honest, the KBS CT Tour Putter 120 Shaft is the first putter shaft that I’ve noticed it was not just from the company. That could have been me and being oblivious to the shafts in the putters I’ve owned. With that said, the weight felt great to swing. To me it felt more stable and I didn’t have the “Zalatoris wiggle” anymore. I did switch out the grip for a slightly wider grip than the Super Stroke tour 2.0 that was on it. I went with a 3.0 tour grip from Super Stroke.  Whether or not that helped, I do not know.

In the 10 rounds I’ve played with it, I do have more confidence with it in my hands. But it has lead to some cons. Firstly, I get a tad overconfident now and starting to miss the simple putts I was making. Secondly, being overconfident at times I don’t pay attention to the ball placement as much and wind up dragging my putter before I hit the ball. The last con, just because you hit it well does not mean it’s going to fix your open or closed putter face. My normal miss went from a push to now in an equal opportunity miss hit person pushing or pulling.

In all I’m happy with it, but would not rule out a different putter if I were to test it and gained better miss hits. I’ve learned it’s not the hits you make, but how consistent you can make your miss hits become better. Is it worth giving it a shot? I’d say yes, unless you’re already lights out with your putter. Then disregard everything I said and keep using yours. But I’d say at least hit it if you got the chance.

I’m open to suggestions on how to make a review better, as well as questions that you have about this putter. Thank you for your feedback or questions.

I feel like when you are trying to test between different clubs, you have to go back and hit the other one or two again after the first go round so you know you’re fully warmed up. I feel like that gives a proper range. Im also not a scientist and I could be so far off in left field it’s not even close to being right in that.

Thank you. And I still have the putter that was given to me when I first started golfing. It is an old Taylormade Juno putter. I was terrible with it. But I learned that a blade putter is not for me.
