Big storm moved in early in the am today. Forecast is for torrential downpours till tomorrow. Golf outing cancelled this morning, but the email notification went into spam folder. I got on the road early and called my buddy to see where he was, maybe grab a bite to eat, and he says "didn't you see the email!" Oh well, we need the rain here for sure.

Good morning Spies from the rain-soaked Casa! NWS says we've gotten more than 8 inches of rain since Tuesday afternoon. I believe it. Last night we got 1.41 inches in a single hour; talk about raining cats and dogs, I think there were some tigers and Great Danes coming down. Another inch or two expected tonight. Fortunately the soil around here is largely sand which drains well; if we had clay or something we would have massive flooding. No nearby creeks to overflow either, although there are two catch ponds nearby for storm drainage; I bet they are getting close to the top.

    Good morning forum folks!
Played one of my best 9-holes at league last night with a +1 37 with 2 birdies! My game felt really good, and my OG Paradym must be trying to prove something to stay in the bag because it was on fire!
Haircut got cancelled/rescheduled this morning so was able to start work a little earlier. I have to leave around 4 to go and hopefully buy the new family vehicle we have been looking at. I basically told the sales rep on the phone i'm not messing around and I plan on leaving with a car but it's up to them to make that happen. I absolutely hate car shopping and want to make this as quick and painless as possible. Due to this I'm not sure I can make the community call but will try and pop in if I can.
So great to see the Opus wedge test this morning. The bangers just keep on coming, great work forum staff!
Outside of all of that just another standard workday. I hope everyone has a great day and quick end to the work week!

Good morning spies! Ran the game yesterday and played really well. According to ShotScope my best drive was a 290 yard monster...maybe I bounced off a sprinkler head for the assist!? Unfortunately my team mates did not play so well and my 3 over 76 went unrewarded again.
We have a new guy who joined up with the Wild Bunch two weeks ago, and I now have 5 people who flat refuse to play with him again. Glacial is the way he moves about the course. One of the guys who played with him yesterday - oh that team showed up at the club house a full 45 minutes after the second to the last team arrived - took a video of his practice swings and I timed them. The routine is set up, waggle, waggle, waggle, stop, p       a         u        s        e    swing then pose. That process takes 18 to 20 seconds and he does it 3 to 4 times every shot. Putting is worse.
Anyway it has fallen to me to be the one who says speed up or find another group to play with.
    Yeah.... Fun....NOT

Morning to the community. This morning is starting off by slamming a couple cups of coffee to try to wake up after a pretty late night. I always feel off when my schedule is messed with. Last night was one of those nights with my brother in law cooking for everyone. Was delicious, and I enjoyed the night off from cooking, but I'm definitely not used to eating dinner at 11pm.
Things are about as good as they can be given the current situations. The kids are excited and dreading going back to school next week, so working them back to their usual sleep routine is going to be priority number one starting this weekend.
I've got a long day of work ahead of me between lab tests, meetings, and my class lecture, but I'd rather be busy than bored, so I've got that going for me at least. Almost to the weekend, which will bring about an eerie sense of quiet I'm sure as our current house will go from 9 people to 4 on Saturday. It's been good to see family for the first time in 5 years, but having that many people around is exhausting for me.

Well on a positive note you can tell it is a golf course. I have not been over to my course but I imagine my first hole looks like The Great Pee Dee river which is a local river with the rain we have had the last 4 days

Oh how well I know it--- Before this recent tropical depression it was that way here. But our Member Men's League we tee off at 7:30 so usually we are done before the heat and humidity really hit

Good morning Spies! Uppa with a cuppa watching USA finish off Germany in men's volleyball, which they did. Now to actually do some work. Later I have to help GF take her car in to get some work done.
Side Olympic note: US men's gymnastics held on for a bronze medal yesterday in the team event. No thanks to the NCAA, where men's gymnastics has virtually disappeared. I read that there are only 12 Division I men's gymnastics programs left. And it's only likely to get worse now that the House v NCAA settlement allows schools to pay athletes in the revenue sports directly; Olympic sports like men's gymnastics and men's volleyball are likely to disappear even more as money is diverted to pay quarterbacks and power forwards.
Golfing: Decided not to work out yesterday as bum shoulder was acting up. I tried to take some easy swings with an ancient Lynx 4-wood to see if that would loosen my shoulder up (also Mike at Fit For Golf suggested a daily swing regimen to help get me used to playing multiple days in a row when the need arises). It didn't really loosen things up yesterday but the shoulder feels better today.

.. and a good morning to you!!
Dragging a bit here myself .. another one of those nights that I'm staring at the ceiling at a stupid hour then snoring away as the sun comes around to say hello...
Anyway feeling ok and off to a hopefully dry (no rain) but still sweaty (hot + humid here again) walk to/from acu and hopefully can get in some range and putting green time later.
Haven't swung for a few days since I played 9 last Friday so gotta get back out there .. also wanna a quick driver shaft test.
K back to coffee and rolling / stretching...
.. hope everyone has a good and productive day today wherever and whatever it involves!

Good morning spies! It's a beautiful morning this morning which makes for a great day of golf. I'm out on the course now and I couldn't be in a better place. I'm trying out a new putter today in hopes it cures my putting woes. We will see in a few hours!
I hope you all have a wonderful day!

The amount of ball marks is definitely on the rise where I play. It's a big pet peeve of mine too. Your take on this has merit, etiquette is missing in a lot of today's amateurs. I wish the clubs would address players repairing them more than just a poster at a urinal!
I'd volunteer to be "ball mark" police for free! REPAIR or LEAVE.

I shot 43 had a triple on 11 and a double on 17. Birdied 18 again. 11 is my nemesis, I have tried different clubs to just keep the ball in play but this hole bites me every time. I am going to try a hybrid next time, wish me luck.

July has been a Month.   Right after the 4th, I went hunting a new driver (used) and ended up getting fitted for a Wilson Staff Dynapower (TI) driver (hat tip to Maple Hill Golf in Michigan).  A couple of weeks later, I went for some "equipment shopping therapy" to the PGA SuperStore, and came home with a Wilson Infinite putter (The "L" ) Model.    In the last 2 weeks since adding both of these clubs to the bag, I have had rounds with 5 birdies (once), 4 birdies (3 times)-- and yesterday I shot my 2nd ever EVEN PAR round... 35 37 (72).   Not bad for a 65 year old,  8 HDCP.     Can't say enough good things about the Wilson equipment.  I have gamed 3 or 4 different drivers over the last  2-3 years (Ping, Mizuno, Srixon).   This Dynapower is superior in pretty much every way.   And the putter has been surprisingly  effective, in that its the first milled putter (no insert) I have played since the Ray Cook, 1990s era.

I have two rounds to post from last week Friday and Sunday.
Friday, I got out by myself to a super nice course, and was lucky to be playing alone too. I decided to play the tips as I wasn't impacting anyone else if I struggled. Driver was iffy for the first few holes, but irons were solid and short game was on fire. I had TWO chip ins with my 7 iron and 3 birdies over all. I bled some strokes at the end, but wound up with an 80 overall.
Sunday I shot a 78 with @MattF at Ironwood, which is becoming a local favorite of mine. Again I had 3 birdies overall and had little trouble down the stretch. Never going to complain about breaking 80 though.

I had a good night in league last night - first time I can say that in what feels like a couple months. In general, I kind of sucked with my driver, but the misses were playable on all but one hole (two were so bad they ended up good). I ended up with 2 doubles (one bad tee ball, one second shot pulled into a pond), a bogey, a birdie, and 5 pars for a +4 39. By my count, this is the 3rd time this season I had a par on each of the 3 par 3's (even though I didn't hit any of those greens). My chipping has been very bad of late, but while warming up, I just got back to the basics and made myself not try to do anything too cute during the round. It helped that I didn't short-side myself at all, so the temptation to get too cute was not as great. Distance with irons was very good all night, even if my dispersion cone with most of them seems to be wider than the greens I was trying to hit. I've also gone back and forth between my StrokeLab putter and old Ping lately. I put the old Ping in my bag yesterday and it didn't disappoint. I made a lot of 4-6 footers for par and a 20-25' birdie.

Thanks. I’m in South East London and a member at Sidcup so not that far from you I guess. The course in Kent was a little firmer than my home course.
I seem to find that those “unremarkable” rounds are the ones where I score best too and it always surprises me 🤣

I suspect conditions are not that different in Kent from South West London, where I play. Enjoy your eagle moment. The thing I am finding with golf - nine months after first playing - is that I am still amazed at the round where I started with -1 at the end of the first four holes with two consecutive birdies, even though a few water-bound shots gave me a final score of 97. In contrast, my pB of 94 was less memorable for just being unremarkable bogey and double bogey golf. Go figure.

Good morning, Spies!!! Happy, umm, that day!!
It's a rainy morning here, with plenty more incoming. Doesn't look like golf's being played this week. But I'll keep my eyes on the forecast to see what may or may not be possible. But an 85% chance on Sunday isn't a good number. 😞
Not too much is happening at the moment, outside of work. So I'll just keep this short.
    Everyone have an awesome day!!

..oops... Forgot to say good morning to everyone, so - Good Morning everyone!
We're dog sitting for a few days so guess I was distracted by that... Cute very mixed breed stray that younger stepson rescued while overseas. He's traveling with his father so we get to watch Bubba - yep that's what the kids named the dog 😄
Off to chiro in a few. Not sure if I can get any golf practice time in as wife has to go to the dentist and someone has to be here with the dog - he's used to having someone around and doesn't like to be alone!
Anyway hope everyone is doing well and has a good day!!

Top of the pot and Happy Hump Day Spies! ☕  We finally got some rain on Monday as a small monsoon storm rolled through the area.  The east valley has been getting reasonable rainfall but we've been getting missed in the west valley.  Slightly cooler temps and the chance of t-storms this week... just show up when I'm not golfing please 😊.
Men's league Individual quota and gross/net skins today at Granite Falls South.  Hopefully some birdies are in store as I'm in a little cold spell getting those the past few rounds.  That said, I did set a new PB index of 6.7 (7.0 was my previous). 🤩  Now onto a 5 something 👍.
    Have a great day all.
