  1. I'm hoping to get a slot at a Cobra Demo day on Friday. It's a private club but I hope the pro has a heart for us public folk. After TXG's video on the Cobra Radspeed and Radspeed XB, I'm curious to see if the XB lives up to the hype. I'm leaning towards the Big Tour Fairway since 85% of my 3W swings are off the tee. If it turns out to be a fairway finder, then that would be perfect on par 4s and narrow courses. To attack Par 5s in two, I'm hoping the Tour 5 wood can fill that slot. I usually carry a 18* driving iron but the Tour 5 would be easier to hold the green. I did see the hybrids and I agree they look closed at address. It doesn't appeal to my eye. I think the last 5W I carried was the Tour Preferred TaylorMade spoon back in the day. Yes, it's been that long but hey, that club also had rails on the sole so...who knows.
  2. I spoke with a Ping rep over the weekend and while he wouldn't come out and say it, he hinted that grips are one of the biggest delays in clubs right now. You might see a faster ship time if you just mention you'll take whatever grip is available in standard or midsize. Coincidentally, a manager at a local big box store said the word on the street is that Golf Pride will have little to no inventory by July. If you need grips and can find the ones you like, buy them now. As I left his store with about a half dozen golf pride grips in tow, I realized I was either the smartest guy in the world...or the biggest sucker. Regardless, I have 450 grips to go along with my 5,987 rolls of toilet paper. Thanks pandemic! (Just kidding, I only have 9 rolls of toilet paper and I only bought 6 grips. I'm not a hoarder)
  3. I've spent the entire evening checking out the Cobra website I forgot to drop a comment here. This is nuts! I'm pumped. To my two boys, my daughter (born 11 days ago) and my wife...I love y'all... But duty calls and I've got to answer. To my boss... I've got a lot of doctors appointments coming up... Like a lot. And I won't have cell service during these long appts.
  4. Companies I've ordered from and associated quoted vs actual lead time Srixon - Quoted 4 weeks...shipped in 4 weeks. TaylorMade - Quoted 3-4 weeks...shipped in 4 weeks. Ping - Quoted 6 weeks...G425 LST 3 Wood shipped in 7 weeks, wedges in 12 weeks. This was due to shafts, not heads or grips. Evnroll - Quoted 2 weeks...Shipped in 10 days. GE Refrigerator - Quoted 12 weeks...shipped in 16 weeks (not golf related but you get the point).
  5. Agreed with the use on fast greens. The Ping inserts are excellent on faster greens but struggle with distance control, in my opinion, on slower/grainy bermuda greens. If you play on slick greens and don't mind the feel of an insert, then definitely give the latest Ping lineup a try. I tried the DS72 and really liked it on the quick indoor turf at PGA SS.
  6. I just had a buddy order these...2.5 years after this review. It's crazy how popular these irons are on multiple tours. I've since moved on but these were by far the easiest mid and long irons I've ever hit. The short irons were just a hair chunky for me but they really did perform well.
  7. With these long hallways, I feel like I should create some sort of putt-putt course. No windmills on this course but I feel like I could find some cool obstacles in the birthing center closet. The floors here are quite muted so there's not a lot of audible feedback when you make a putt. I'll make sure I make note of that in the follow-up survey...'floors too soft and I don't get the audible feedback when making putts...2 stars'. The PuttUp was the first thing I packed in the truck for this delivery. In fact, it took up so much room that I had to put my wife's bags in the truck bed. She was so over carrying this child that she just rolled her eyes as she saw the packing arrangement. I'm sure I'll get an earful when I get home but the male docs/nurses thought it was hilarious and the female nurses/docs...well...not so much. And carrying this mat through the parking garage, down the sky ramp, across the lobby, up the elevator, throguh the labor and delivery department...you get a lot of reactions.
  8. This is my curent setup with the Birdie Ball PuttUp...while the baby girl sleeps, daddy works on his 6-8' putts. Nurses aren't too happy but hey...the grind never stops.
  9. I had a buddy experience the same thing with a Ping order through PGA SS. He wanted a special grip that Ping wouldn't have in stock until June. He had PGA SS call Ping and just ship the irons without the grips. He found a nearby Golf Galaxy that had the grips and he took them over to have them installed. Saved him two months on his order. If you can find the grip, it might be worth the expense to just go buy them and install them yourself.
  10. What's great about this tool, the individual ball lab reports and the extensive ball test a few years ago is that anytime I hit a bad shot, I blame the ball. It used to be my inside-out swing that caused a fade, then it was my outdated irons but now...it's the ball. Screw you out-of-balance golf ball! I hope you enjoy that guys backyard!
  11. I did some digging and found my old post regarding a comparison with a TM M1, Cobra F7+ and the old Adams Launch Lab (released in 2012). I know I can't compare the new 2020/2021 releases to the Adams since I've sold it away to another lefty, but the Adams held it's own compared to the 2016 M1. I did another comparison when I bought my 2020 TM SIM with the 2017 TM M1 and saw exactly 0 yards gained between the two (using the same shaft). You probably see more forgiveness with newer drivers but unless your swing isn't matching up with the current shaft/head combo, then you might not see a huge jump in distance on well struck shots.
  12. I game the Sigma 2 Arna and if Ping firmed up the insert, I could see myself gravitating towards the DS 72. The Sigma 2 insert is great on fast greens but I really see a difference in distance control on slower greens (i.e. greens transitioning to spring/summer)
  13. If your Apple Watch is GPS enabled (red button on side/you pay an extra fee with your cell carrier), then no. If your apple watch has a silver button, then it relies on your phone to determine yardage. I noticed when I get too far from my phone, the watch yardage and shot tracking is a little off simply because it can't connect with the phone. Once it gets in range, then it gets a more accurate yardage and syncs up the shots.
  14. If you have the club head speed...Left Dash Pro V1x is stupid long off the tee. To give you an example from personal experience: GC Quad Session last week. 10 driver swings with the Bridgestone Tour BX, Left Dash and 2021 TP5X. I took the best 5 B Stone ~2,450RPM, 11.2* Launch, 167.5mph ball speed, 285 carry, 303 total. 2021 TP5X ~2,800RPM, 11.0* Launch, 166.5mph ball speed, 279 carry, 294 total. Left Dash ~1,975RPM, 12.8* Launch, 166.2mph ball speed, 291 carry, 314 total.
  15. This bird didn't mention this only pertained to RH golfers. I don't blame Edel not making clubs in lefty but dang...guess I'll just drill into my Ping Glides and make my own moveable weights!
  16. Houston does suck for public golf given the population, land size, climate, etc. All the decent public tracks are out in the burbs. Moody in Galveston, Eagle Pointe in Mont Belvieu (haven't played it in awhile but loved it), Raven Nest in Huntsville, Meadowbrook Farms in Katy...if only River Ridge in Sealy would make a comeback. Sure, Memorial and Gus Wortham are great but they're getting a ton of play right now...as are most courses in the area. I still think a lighted par 3/practice facility would do wonders if placed in the right area for Houston. See San Pedro Drive Range and Par 3 in San Antonio.
  17. I'm returning to my natural habitat...ordered a lefty ER5B. Yes, they make the lefty in black. I'm stoked. It will arrive sometime the week of April 19th. Good thing that's when the wife is due. Oh well, she already knows I'm bringing my BirdieBall PuttUp to the hospital so...I guess I'll bring the new flatstick as well.
  18. Scott Drew was 32 when he took over the Baylor program. 32! D1 basketball program. That's insane but he was really the only one that wanted the job who fit the qualifications. He's always had decent defense but this year he had the DPOY in Mitchell and the best back court in college basketball. Our bigs weren't flashy but they were effective and physical and we got a ton of production from the bench. We won't look the same next year but damn... This was fun. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  19. I hear the grand prize is a round of golf and dinner with Tony and then a hot tub session with Chris. That could just be a rumor though...
  20. I turn 40 next month. My dad turns 75 in July. Last night we watched Baylor win their first national championship in a major men's sport (football, basketball, baseball). We high-fived, drank a nice whiskey and then I went out with some friends to a bar and yelled at the locals. Pregnant wife didn't appreciate it and today I don't appreciate my decisions as much but hey, it was a blast. It was like I was in college all over again. It was pure bliss last night. I have a photo of me behind the Baylor bench in Scott Drew's first game. We've been a Baylor family since birth and last night was incredible. I know it wasn't much of a game for the general public but damn...what a Final Four by the Bears.
  21. Pure domination in the Final Four. Just...wow. I hope they have a Brinks truck heading to Scott Drew's house right now.
  22. A lefty pickin my Bears to win it all. Smart guy.
  23. If they will give us lefties an Evnroll ER5 in Black...take my money now. The current silver finish is really too bright in the summer with the sun overhead. First world golf problems, I know.
  24. 1/2" Rebar from Home Depot. Unbelievable feel and control. Not a lot of flex but, worth every penny. Nah, but for real I just bought the VA Composites Nemesys 65 Five (X Flex) for a Ping G410 LST (Thanks to @jlukes and TXG videos) and whoa momma...it's legit. Tried to go back to my gamer and immediately decided to part with it. Best feeling shaft/combo I've swung in a long time, and it puts my launch numbers as close to perfect as I've seen. I never tried the shaft prior to purchase and this actually worked out perfectly. 6 for 7 on fairways hit Tuesday with the only miss going through the fairway on a dogleg...old gamer hit a cut and this combo hits frozen ropes.
