  1. It's @Lacassem which is posted right in the first post of the thread saying who winner is.
  2. This is great timing for this topic as I had this for my round yesterday. The score was not nearly as indicative of how I played. Yes, I had a few squirly drives and some mishits, but I really felt great on the course and had some great smart shots that just didn't quite pay off. For me distance control is a big one - I hit a lot of irons the last 2 rounds and the distances have been on point. I can recall when I was playing my best golf I would grab the club from the bag knowing I needed it to go X amount and it would. It has been a while since I felt this and especially last round I had it dialled in. Example on the 10th hole I played 4 iron off the tee and pulled it a little right, just in the first cut and left myself with 115 yards. This is one of my favourite holes on the course and the green is tough! The middle is open, long and begs just to go there. The pin was tucked on the left, big bunker in front that is death and 1/3 as long front to back. Even in the semi I knew I could get it over the bunker and stop. I went right at the flag and nearly holed out and misread the putt to clean up for a easy par. There were several other shots during the round whether it was a layup or going into the green I had the right distances nearly all the time even if my line had strayed a bit. Second is simply confidence in shape. This is something I do struggle with at times, but recently have been able to really make sure I am getting the shape I want and plan on it. I often can get too quick and have a nasty pull hook (it sucks), however more recently I have been able to slow things down which has lead to a nice fade or if I pick up the pace just a little I can get the draw again. So shape would be number two for me. Finally putting. Because my approach game does leave a good bit to be desired I rely on my putting a lot and thankfully it is great most the time. Avoiding 3 putts and just having distances and the imagination to get putts close is really key for me and although it leads to better chances at scoring it is the big piece of my game that if it is off well than I am in for an awful round.
  3. Been nearly two weeks since my last update so here we go. I truly love these irons. It has taken a bit longer than expected, but I have full confidence in hitting all of them and full confidence in the distances and knowing what is going to happen. I still have the tendency to miss with a pull the odd time, but that is me and my swing not the clubs fault. I know what to expect when I have mishits and have also started to get use to thinking more in meters vs yards and the conversion or become second nature. I still wish they would rust a little quicker, but have a plan for that going into the off season. With that I am going to do a full club recap on these now starting with the grips. I love these grips, yes I do still prefer corded grips, but the lamkin crosslines are a stellar grip and one I would be happy to have on all my clubs. The texture and feel is soft, yet tacky and just are a great compliment to these irons. I have them in midsize as well so there is a little extra cushion as well. Shafts: KBS Tour V 90 Black PVD. Something about these black shafts are making me feel like I would have a tough time going back to shiny silver again. It narrows focus onto the club head which is nice and they feel super stable. I never feel like they are loose or bendy. It did take some time for me to get use to them over the Nippons, but I am super happy with them could see me using KBS moving forward in another set years down the road. The combo of these create a really nice smooth balance between the club head and grip in the hands which is hard to describe, but just smooth and balanced. Okay now the important part the heads. I have touched on the top line and offset being not exactly what I expected, however given the last number of rounds the only club I actually notice this is on the 9 iron. I still think it is a thicker top line than the rest. For me I think these are special heads, between the milling on the back, the shape of them being shorter toe to heal and the smaller details sub70 puts into them they really get noticed and stand out. I have had several players which I have played with ask me about them and really like the look of them. Aesthetics for me they are great, yeah if I am picky I would like a little less offset and maybe in the black or as it rusts that will change, but it is nothing that would make me want to stop playing them. A part I haven't touched on is the V sole. This for me has been a game changer. It did take a little bit to get use to and I'll say in really wet conditions it has not been my favourite, however with a few small tweaks it is something that really stands out and makes a solid strike feel that much better. Having played Pings for many years with wide soles it was a change, but one I am really happy I have moved to. Ball flight: Up up up and away! Of course it is up to the user to make the ball get up and go, but it really is no issue getting a nice high ball flight that will stop on the greens (see 5 iron for the exception). The course I play the most has a lot of nasty front bunkers that are hell to get out of so you need to carry them and get the ball the stop. This hasn't been an issue and I know that if I need the ball to stop I can put a good swing and ensure that it would one hop and stop with 7 iron down in most cases. The 6 will roll out and so will the 5, but even those will get the height needed to stop when required. Feel: Yeah they are soft, I went back and hit a few other sets the other day and there is no denying these are pretty darn soft irons. Added to this they are very responsive. Mishits are noticable in a good way. There is great feedback through the hands and audible so that you are aware immediately of where you made the strike. The final note I'll add in for today and hopefully get some photos over the next week to share is that it doesn't take a ton of effort to get these to do what you want them to. Yes I swing pretty fast, but not top tier by any means. A solid smooth swing is rewarded with a high strong flight that sounds great and is fun to watch as well!
  4. So my first car was a 1996 Pontiac Grand Am. I still remember how it drove and how excited I was to get it home. When I moved across the country I gifted it to my sister who then gifted it to her inlaws later on in life. The car lasted forever and was quite the car given how many people it wen through. Oh and it was purple! However what I am more excited to share was our family car and the car I learned to drive on. Hindsight I really wish I had taken this as my car, but it really wasn't in that good of shape by the time I came around to be able to have my own vehicle and it had near 500 thousand km on it.
  5. So testers! What are your thoughts through the first few weeks!?
  6. The NLU pod had a good recap on some of this but it was more I believe to do with James Hahn's comments about the tour being two tiered. It really already was before. The simply fact is these changes make that upper echelon paid more and gives a clearer path to it for those not in it. As well it means all the best will play against the best more often which is what we all want to see.
  7. What a great article. https://www.si.com/golf/news/bryson-dechambeau-outsmarted-himself-moving-to-liv
  8. Hole of the day is one that didn't have a long drive by any means as I'll admit we had a group ahead of us and I had to throttle back a bit, however it still landed me in a great position. I had always been right on this hole and usually under this one stupid tree having to punch out so this time I made sure to be on the left side of the fairway and had a nice 8 iron in. Ended up pulling it a bit to the right, however still landed on the green and made monster putt that had two smaller breaks in it. Fun day even though the scores didn't quite align for a breaking 80 round, but still mean I had a good time on the course and in the end hit a lot of good shots.
  9. Course: Lagern Golf Otelfingen Championship 18 Handicap: 10 (its going down!) Score: 83 Course Handicap: 11 Net Score: 72 - Even Net Birdies: 4 Longest Drive: 272 Kinda a back down to earth, but I'll have more to say in some follow up on other threads.
  10. Really it is okay. There is only so much we can do. The title of the thread, the front end message spells it all out and is as big and bold as can be. However many will read what they want to and ignore much else. We try to make it clear, but only so much that we can do. Trust me we have significantly larger other priorities than the pick me pick me comments, which are explicitly stated not to be posted in this thread.
  11. MGS basically did do this a few years back during their big ball test and noticed several going way off line and more etc via the robot testing and the results of that test lead callaway to spend millions in improving their quality control of their golf balls.
  12. This thread is... Something else. Sometimes it's best to read and just move on and try to forget what you just read.
  13. Very weird. I'll look into it. Thanks for posting.
  14. Wont be defending my title with my round, but the game is certainly coming around!
  15. We are lucky ours is great off leash and never have to worry about her in that way, but yeah exactly like you said they cover a lot of ground. We had a fit bit on her and while we sure 5km she did 18km.
  16. Why did man invent curling? To convince women sweeping was a sport.
  17. I guess I only have one question. Do we think anyone here on the forum has those answers? Else we are simply in a neverending loop.
  18. Pretty sure none of my 3 would do this and the dalmatian would just run off to be friends with every other golfer on the course.
  19. I even take mine off for pitch shots as for me I get more feel and what I gather as more control. So as soon as I'm 50 yards in glove comes off. Plus you know tan lines! Exception being rain
  20. He speaks really well has a good personality and game to go with it. Exciting time for him and golf. He had a great interview with NLU a few weeks back. Highly recommend!
  21. I may be pulling the trigger on one if I can get it arranged to be shipped to Germany. They don't ship to Switzerland so I'll have to do a bit of a round about way to get it, but could be make a good Challenger for my bag.
