  1. I did with the G30. Call PING. They'll tell you to take it to a Golf Galaxy (or similar) for inspection and then they'll replace it.
  2. I try to tee it the height that puts the ball in the middle of the club face (vertically) the most often. Basically fitting tee height to your particular swing. I found I was hitting it a bit low on the club face, so I got longer tees. Cheapest equipment change ever that actually worked!
  3. So.....I got an email offer from a sticker company for 3"x3" vinyl stickers for cheap. You can get 3 1" stripes per sticker. I've designed the lines I think I'd like for my black spider putter. The idea is to cut each sticker into 3 1" wide stickers. One with a single red line, one with a single black line, one with wide red+ 2 narrow black. I'll have a lot more than I need so I may be able to send some out for cheap if anyone is interested (couple of bucks for envelope and stamps). I'll put up another post when they arrive in a couple of weeks. Wish this came up a few days ago before I went ahead and painted the line on (results were slightly below ideal).
  4. I ordered a PING 17* hybrid with their Tour 85 shaft 8 weeks ago and I still don't have it. Ordered a 3 wood at the same time and it came a couple of weeks ago. Not remotely close to the 3-4 week delivery time they expected. Anyone else experiencing this issue?
  5. So I am sold on this. I have liked the look from the get-go. It is definitely improving the alignment of my putter face to my desired line (as defined by how I place my ball). My buddies agree it has improved my proximity to the hole and makes. Will likely paint it on tomorrow after a round when I finally take a day off. I much prefer the single line look vs. 2 lines. I feel like having the white background and same colour line on the ball and putter is key.
  6. I just added a white stripe with a single red line to my TM Spider S (black). I have a matching single red line on my ball. Initially I was distracted by the stripe on the putter but once I got into the routine of lining up the two red lines, then moved to really focusing on the ball, things went much better. If it keeps working well I'll make the stripe+line permanent with paint.
  7. Nice. I switched to the claw out of necessity. On the practice green of Royal Dornach (bucket list course), my right hand was flinching at impact. Have had my best putting of my life since I changed. Reduced my pulls to the left. I found the Superstroke Pistol GT putter grip great for using the claw. They also have a "Claw" putter grip. https://superstrokeusa.com/product-category/putter-grip/
  8. So this is what I did. Really like the look of it. I have the same single red line on my ball. Only played 27 holes with it but they were my best rounds this year. Initially the line on the putter was distracting. Found I was looking at the putter and the ball which didn't work well once I took my backswing. But once I got into a routine of lining up the putter head with the ball, then focusing only on the ball when it was time to swing, it worked really well. If it continues, I'll remove the sticker and paint the line on.
  9. Not all of us. I started using a TM Spider Tour S last fall. I have never liked the look of them but whenever I tried a friends, boy did it roll well. So I invested $56 in a Ghost version off ebay to give one a try, sanded it down and painted it black. (it was white and badly chipped up) Still don't like the look of it but it doesn't bother me a bit because it works GREAT for me.
  10. To me it looks like an attempt at semi-circular grooves of the Yes! putter but without violating any of their patents.
  11. I'm going to try putting an alignment "stripe" on my black TM Spider S. Going to start with a 1" white stripe with a red line to match up with my ball. If I like it I will paint it on permanently. But in the course of looking for options I ran across this offering on ebay for a TT vinyl sticker. He has options for a white stripe (for coloured putters) or clear (for white putters or 2-ball). Seems like a cheap way to convert your existing mallet to TT (I'm assuming the superior performance of the Odyssey TT was mostly about the TT stripe vs that specific putter design). https://www.ebay.com/itm/233497245528?ul_noapp=true
  12. I did a PXG fitting a number of months ago, and all they can compare their clubs to are the ones you bring with you (typically the clubs you're using). After all the point of a fitting is how the clubs perform for YOU, not how they performed for a reviewer no matter how thorough they are. MyGolfSpy does extensive testing and then says "go get fit", right? PXG got data from hitting my current 7-rion and measured the specs of my existing clubs. Then tried various combos to find something better.
  13. My home course finally opened up today, Cataraqui in Kingston Ontario (first day courses could be open on Ontario). Got the sixth tee time. Aced the second hole. 187 yards. Third hole in one. Second time I've aced that hole in 3 years
  14. Been looking at hitting surfaces and my budget. I've had elbow issues in the past so I need to be careful of mats that are too hard or "sticky". Thinking about giving this a go: https://www.synlawngolf.ca/shop/synbermuda-211/ Costs CDN$9/ sq ft I'd get a 2' x 3' piece for the hitting area. Also looked at their Tee Strike product which looks a lot like Country Club Elite but I've read some reviews where players found the Country Club product a bit sticky which would not be good for my elbows. https://www.synlawngolf.ca/shop/synlawn-tee-strike/ Both of those products are rated as their most durable. Comments?
  15. Thanks for the feedback. I can't say that I'd be able to feel a hook or slice, which is basically my concern. I'm working on getting my hands more forward at impact, so I'm hoping I can groove that by swinging at 60% and video. All the components are on order so we'll see how it goes. Partly doing this as the next best alternative because my club will not be opening its range initially and it may be closed for a while apparently. That would really suck.
  16. Here's my concern with using a net: I use it to hit balls and groove a bad swing. I feel like it will be difficult to use it productively when I don't have any idea where the ball would have gone to help diagnose my problems. Comments?
  17. Rick Sheils review of the Callaway/Costco set:
  18. FYI, if you got Arccos sensors through PING your free trial ended yesterday and they likely billed you for the $99 annual subscription yesterday. Just noticed it on my card. I contacted them at [email protected] and they promptly reversed it.
  19. PXG 0211 irons are now $125/club with their 3 standard shafts. Down to a price comparable to other top level irons. Worth checking out if there is a PXG fitter in your area.
  20. We have a really great Men's Night. We use online (paid) software that takes care of everything (even handicapping), you just enter the scores. About 180 players on 12 teams. 15 players per team selected through a draft. Each week there are 6 head to head team matches. Everybody plays whenever they want on league day, with whoever they want, and from whatever tees they way. The team's score is made up of its best 2 gross + 5 net scores. If more guys on your team come out you have more scores to select from. All the scores are entered as players finish and the LIVE scoring is on the club TV's (as well as the league website. Who is counting in the team score and which teams are winning are constantly changing. Each team's score shows the guys that counted and then the rest of the guys under the heading "Useless Bastards". Winning team gets 20 points and every team earns a point for each guy who showed up towards season long standings At the end of the regular season we have playoffs that are like FedEx playoffs for 3-4 weeks We also do flighted skins The club's Men's League grew from about 40 guys coming out to 150/week.
  21. Hit the green matte Maxfli Tour again well today. Had a couple of pretty memorable shots: https://forum.mygolfspy.com/topic/21462-what-was-your-shot-of-the-day/page/43/?tab=comments#comment-603365
  22. 200 yd second shot on a par 5 came up 1" short from an albatross (would have been my second). Yes I made the putt for eagle. #8 on River Wilderness, Parrish FLA. Had a cool shot on #18 too. After a bad drive, hit a 180 yd punch shot under a tree, over a creek, uphill on to the green. Then sunk the putt for birdie.
  23. I had a PING G30 I bought off ebay. The face cracked, PING told me to take it to Golf Galaxy. I did so and they called me in an hour to tell me PING would replace it, but they didn't have the G30 any more so would I accept the 400? I said "yes please!". Still enjoying it today.
  24. Played my first round with the Maxfli Tour ball in matte green. Very weird to be looking for a green ball rather than white. Was pleased with the results. I did not find the colour distracting (I thought I might). Enjoyed playing with a less spinny ball (had been playing the Kirkland 3-piece which is way to spinny for me). It stopped quickly on greens with no sucking back. I had tried it out on a practice green the day before and did not like it at all. The matte surface seemed to interact with the face of my TM Spider putter oddly. But the next day when i put it in play it was fine. Liked it a lot better than the Kirkland 3-piece.
  25. I've stopped using these balls. Way too much spin for me, which is consistent with MGS ball testing. It was the HIGHEST spinning ball tested. Not good in the wind and a lot of cases of the ball backing up on the greens. Still have a few sleeves left but not going to use them (which is a pretty big move considering how "value conscious" I am).
