  1. I'm not sure it was when I purchased last year....maybe it was. I have a hard enough time remembering where my drive went, much less what happened a year ago...lol. I just remember not liking the fit and returning them at a loss....which bites since, at that time anyway, they weren't available in retail stores to try on. But, at least they didn't hit me with a restocking fee like some companies are known to do.
  2. It will cost you shipping both ways to try and return. At least that was my experience last year
  3. You could have played in our group today, then ... add in some wet, sloppy fairways and you're golden! Played a Shamble today (5 drives max per player) in sloppy wet conditions and cold with 20+ mph wind ... I managed to come in with an 82. My partners shot 84, 97 (female partner), and 98. Only 5 brave teams showed up to play (several canceled because of cold and wet conditions) with one team having only 3 players. My team finished at -8 for 3rd place (of course, they only paid 2 places!)
  4. My thoughts....it's a great ball, but there are other great balls that may suit your game equally, if not better.
  5. Only half way through the series....it's good, but not great.
  6. Glad this one is started...I finished my latest series on Netflix and was debating what to start next....Might as well be this one! I'll start tonight! Edit: Binge watched the first 4 episodes last night
  7. Played a practice round today with a friend. We didn't bother to keep score and sometimes would drop another ball now and then. Our course is really wet right now and play is difficult to say the least. Overall, fairly pleased with my ball striking, driving, and putting... still a basket case with the short chips and pitches. Zero roll on the fairways leaves a lot of long irons, hybrids, or woods into play for the approach shots on many holes, which puts even more pressure on my fragile short game. Damn, I love this game!!!!
  8. Aesthetically, I prefer the branding iron look of the DF 2.1 over this one. I doubt there will be any technical advantage of a newer model of the DF.
  9. Who cares how one labels a wedge (or any club, for that matter)? Play what works best for your game, your swing, your turf conditions, etc. Low score wins every time!
  10. It's a good looking putter....but I'm sticking with my L.A.B. DF 2.1!
  11. Cold for the first 9 then warmed up to 50, wet and sloppy for all 18 holes following over 7 inches of rain in the last few days. I hit more mud than ball on too many shots. Managed to salvage an 84. Nice day tomorrow, but more rain and cold coming again next week. Come on, Spring!!
  12. If you're talking about custom fitting services, such as Club Champion or similar, where they rebuild the clubs and install specialized components at inflated prices, then yes the price of the fitting should be waived or significantly reduced with a purchase. However, if you're talking about a retail golf store, be it Big Box or your local shop, where you'll be ordering a club from the manufacturer that meets your specs, then no. The profit margin for golf clubs is relatively narrow and negating the price of time spent for a fitting would only erode that profit deeper. Anything beyond a simple fitting for length and lie or a few minutes spent on a monitor should be charged to the customer.
  13. An 82 that felt like a 92. Putted well. Ball striking, not so much.
  14. Today was better than yesterday with regards to speed control. One thing that I've noticed is that it requires a longer backstroke with the L.A.B than it did with my Odyssey to achieve the same rollout on the same greens. But, it rolls true and it's an adjustment that will come with use.
  15. I think I'm harder on myself than I should be and beat myself up on errant shots and other bonehead mistakes. Guess I think I'm better than I really am.
  16. I've had it out for 2 rounds now and it's one nice putter! I'm still adjusting to get the speed down better, but the ball starts on the line I've chosen almost automatically. Only time I've hit what I'd term a bad putt had nothing to do with the putter and everything to do with me! Both days that I've played with it brought comments from how well I was putting from my playing partners. Obviously, I don't make every putt I try to make, but it seems that I'm making more in the 10-15 foot range than normal. As long as I maintain a light grip and just let the putter work, putts start on the chosen line without fail. When I don't make a putt, I'm close enough for a tap in. Needless to say, I'm very happy with the putter.
  17. My driver cover, which spends more time in the cart basket than on the driver, is a white MGS cover. My 2 FW and my hybrid are the stock covers .... but have been looking at after market covers the last 2 days. My putter cover on my Odyssey is also a white MGS mallet cover, but on my newer L.A.B. putter, it's the stock cover (and likely will remain so, given the unique size of this putter!).
  18. Started out great and was 3 over through 12 holes. My chipping yips (aka stick your club into the mud shot) cost me dearly, showing up on 2 holes and I go +6 in 6 holes for an 81. On the plus side, it was the inaugural launch of putting with my L.A.B. DF 2.1 putter and felt like it performed wonderfully. I'm still adjusting for distance control with it, as my prior putter seemed to get more roll from the same stroke...but I'll nail that with some more time. I did miss 2 putts that I felt that I should have made (both were due to me getting a bit lazy with my stroke), but I drained several longer putts in the 10-20 foot range.
  19. great price on that shaft....too stiff for me (darn it!)
  20. Spent winter of 70/71 at GL NTC for MM A School! Pea coats, gloves, and still cold!
  21. Well, my boy Dylan Wu (I knew his family and watched him play as a teenager at the club that I belonged) made the cut and is tied for 28th. Would be nice to see him move up the leader board.
  22. Well, the ice storm is behind us (for now) and some better weather is forecast. Today should be in the upper 40s and sunny. The course is still saturated, so a red flag is out. I'll be teeing off at 11 am (shotgun start) with temperature about 42ish. Their calling for temps to reach 70 next week before the next cold front moves through the area and brings winter (well, mid-south winter) back.
  23. Yesterday, I took my new putter to the practice green for about 15 minutes to work on distance control. I didn't care much about line but rather getting the ball to within tap in range. Afterwards, my wife and I were going to play about 3 holes (she's a newbie) but after our drives, she said it was too cold and didn't want to continue.
  24. A difficult question to answer within context as every course may utilize a different color scheme and may have more or fewer tee boxes than the next course. Having said that, at my previous club, I had moved from the Gold (so called Mens regular) tees to the Blue (aka Senior) tees. We still had 2 sets of tees shorter than the blue and 1 set behind the Gold tees. At my current course, I'm playing the whites (designated 4) and have 3 sets (silver 3, red 2, and green 1) forward of me and 2 J(blue 5 and black 6) behind me. I'm playing 4 with thoughts of moving to 3. Problem is that while 4 is a tad long, 3 is significantly shorter and sadly we have not developed a proper combination set of tees (yet?). But yes, I agree with you that players should move to the appropriate tee boxes for their age/ability. Playing a course at a length that makes it unlikely to reach GIR is not fun.
