  1. I finally got outside yesterday for a few swings. I had used the planemate a little bit in the spring got away from it over the summer but have hit it hard the last two months. I dont have access to a driving range and it was getting dark here so all I could do was maybe a dozen swings on the first fairway. My iron contact was inconsistent so I cant comment on that but wow was my driving straight with a slight draw. I definitely have to change my point of aim. Distance seemed to be down a little bit but the wind was really blowing so its hard to tell.

Question for those who have been using it for a while, has it turned your ball flight into draws?

  2. How do you guys who use skillest decide which swing videos to send in? I've been thinking about it for a while now but most of my practice is into a net so its hard for me to decide which swings produce good results and which ones produce my common misses, the big misses I can tell but I'm looking for more consistency in my swing, and avoiding the big misses more than anything else.

I've been looking into some type of online instruction for a while now and have looked at a couple of guys on skillest. Ideally I'd like to take lessons in person but I've had a hard time finding someone in my area who is consistently available especially year to year. Any one try any of the other instructors?

The cupping is referring to the left wrist. When working on the drills with the band setting the wrists at/around club parallel to the ground will have the left wrist flatten and add some more bending of the right wrist along with a slight “cocking” of the right wrist. From that point it’s turning of the hips and chest and folding the right arm.

Thanks ill work on the cupping first and then try to stay wider near the top to keep from getting stuck.

Here’s what I see with pics to try and help.

You start to rotate the forearm early in the swing and the club moves a little inside. Right arm should be staying on top of the left arm longer.

As a result when you get to the top you have a very cupped wrist. And the band is close to your arm, where if you had a flat or slightly bowed wrist or would be away from your arm a bit.

In transition you are stuck(a position I’m familiar with in my swing). The right elbow should be in front of the hip.

Due to you being stuck you corrective action is to throw the hands and then rotate them to square up. Which is why you feel the “flip”

a couple drills to work on rotation and keeping the right arm on top the left longer is 1) stick a club in your belly button and choke down on it. While keeping it in your belly button turn your chest without doing anything with your wrist or arms til they are at or just past your right thigh. 2) choke down on a club and stick it on your left hip and like with the other drill just turn the chest while keeping the club on your hip this the hands reach the right leg.

    Thanks for the drills.

I've always struggled with getting stuck inside. I'll have to really concentrate on not letting the band pull me inside.

I'm slightly confused on the cupping do you mean I'm cupping the right or left wrist? I've struggled in the past with cupping the left one and after thousands of swings with a skillz smart glove thought I wonder if that bad habit is setting back in.

  5. Thanks Guys here are a few quick videos I shot of me. It seems like I'm snapping the band over a lot on the full swings and am launching the ball way to the right on all of the swings. I am someone who often has a hard time getting a certain feel or being able to make my body do what a pro tells me to do in past lessons.

All of the chatter in this thread inspired me to put on the Planemate yesterday and figure out the long green band. I never spent much time with it earlier in the summer, and when I did, I really struggled with the band snapping underneath my arms on the follow through. That's something Martin specifically calls out in the videos that should not happen.

I rewatched the Advanced Protocols finishing position video and picked up on something Martin mentioned that I had missed previously: feeling the right wrist in full extension with palm facing down and slightly away as the club is coming into the ball.

Ta-da! That fixed the band issue, which came down to my misuse of the right hand in the downswing. Previously, I had been keeping the palm down but actively rolling my right wrist into flexion as I was meeting the ball. This basically yielded a flipping movement at the ball. When my timing was good, I could leave the face just open enough to hit the ball straight, but otherwise it was pull/pull hook city.

I went to the heated range this morning to work on the new feel and was amazed at how much better I hit the ball. Lots of 6 irons with 132+ ball speed, 4 hybrids in the mid-140s, and most importantly a lot more balls hit straight with a slight draw. Toward the end of my buckets I started getting tired and falling back into the old habits, but I'm ready to get back with a very focused range session some time this upcoming week.

This is actually something my coach picked up on two lessons ago (August, I think), but the feel he had me using was to feel my left hand chopping down and left, which achieved this result by putting the left wrist in flexion on the downswing. That feel worked OK, but I find myself to be more right-side driven and so the right wrist feeling is helpful for me.

I've been struggling with this as well since I started using the long band but I feel like my problem might be different.  I seem to either roll the band over or I leave the club face well open at impact. Even at slow speed I struggle to relax the club and get the clubface closed at impact without flipping it. Does anyone have any idea what I could be doing wrong?

Not sure what the typical footprint is for PGASS but at least the one in Sarasota is much bigger than the GG stores I frequent.

This one looks like its an old Michaels store https://www.natickreport.com/2020/10/natick-swapping-crafts-for-clubs-pga-golf-superstore-replacing-michaels/ wife used to like dropping me off and picking me up at Logan express to go shopping around here...

  8. I don't know if it would help or hurt in my case, I expect overspeed training would hurt as I struggle to control the club face sometimes, I definitely struggle with weight shift at times. Unfortunately for me I am away for work for months at a time and get a lot of time to hit into nets and get to play an executive course from time to time but when I am home family demands limiting my playing and especially practice time so its tough to get in the benefit of lessons. These aren't that expensive so I might try to pick up a set and try them out. I just hate to waste practice time as it's pretty valuable to me.

  9. I walk nearly all of my rounds with a pushcart. Usually I do this when I play as a single and until this year it wasn't a problem but with more crowed courses and everyone riding in their own cart I have found it really difficult to keep from rushing when being the only one in the group when walking,  I've started leaving my cart at home unless I'm playing the local 9 hole course, which I can usually get out on alone.

  10. Definitely enjoying the snells as someone who usually loses a sleeve a round at that price i really don't worry about them. I did have a couple balls in the batch I got in the spring that had bad covers after a few holes. I've only played one sleeve out of the batch that shipped a couple of weeks ago but haven't had any problems with them yet. I play the yellow, not sure if that makes a difference or not

  11. A little late to the party on this but I'm a big fan of cedar spils rather than any type of lighter. I really do notice a big difference and I not even close to a cigar expert.
