TitleistMike got a reaction from HikingMike in Putter Fitting: I Need Some Convincing!
I am your twin brother from another mother....Get fitted. For 45 years no lessons and no fittings and previously made it to scratch. Now as a fat old man, I need to make sure I have right tools to keep HI near 10.

A fitting doesn't mean buy a new putter. It affirms confirms what your putt stroke tendencies are and verifies if your current putter is a GOOD fit.
There are an abundance of arc vs straight putters under $125.
If a better fit putter saves only 1 or 2 strokes a round, is it worth $125 ? If the fitting told you the current putter is 100% wrong fit, would you change ? I would.
I was just shaft and club fitted for irons first time. Just the right thing to do buying irons that can be modified vs off the shelf.
Next up is putter. I am really good. My friends comment complain about my putting.  I can read and get pace and line right +90% of time.  My misses are bad reads mostly rather than stroke or pace. Fitting won't change that.
The only thing left to make my putting better is get fitted.  I won't change the head from ping anser old style. All I am willing to do is change shaft and hosel orientations. The putter head will not change.

Hopefully fitting will say stick with this. As good as you are going to get for tool vs technique.

I live in metro Atlanta so I can play golf comfortably most weeks Nov to Feb.
Otherwise, once a week at PGA Superstore practice bays off the launch monitor.

    Titleist AVX - lower trajectory
Yes, fitted - I spent hours on simulator hitting batches of ProV1 and AVX and comparing notes.
As long as descent angle is similar, a lower ball flight helps on breezy days.

TitleistMike reacted to Brooky03 in Me or loss of etiquette in the game?
fwiw, most polos these days are designed not to be tucked in and, unless it's a regional thing, backwards hats haven't been "in" for almost 20 years at this point.  Regardless, are fashion choices really an etiquette problem?  Guys don't golf in wool suits anymore.  Was it an etiquette problem when golfers switched to polos or shorts?
The other stuff, I suspect, is a matter of letting the outliers shape your opinion of the whole group.  Rude golfers aren't new.  If they're more prevalent, I'd argue it's a function of golf's popularity rebounding/growing.  To say nobody is teaching kids golf etiquette is to say that parents who learned proper golf etiquette just decided not to bother passing it down.  I'm not buying that, wholesale.
Do we want to shun new, young golfers for the sake of etiquette or do we want our local courses to stay open?

First 40 years of play never had a PGA pro lesson. All learned from Nicklaus Palmer GolfDigest Golf written lessons. Made it to scratch.

Putting training was the best tip as follows
3 balls 5ft 10ft 15ft from hole. Start short and progress out.
Repeat starting long back to short.
Goal is FEEL the difference in the different length putts.

    Distance control
6 balls, a ruler or carpenter square better. Use square edges for consistent set up alignments etc.
Make 6 putts with 2inch backstroke.
    6 putts 4 inch
    6 putts 6 inch, 8,10,12,14,16
Now you know how far ball rolls for a given backstroke.
Now you can't make a bad putt, only a bad read.

Golf is golf. Worldwide. For PGA and Brandel Chamblee to claim moral high ground was absurdity and myopic.
Only 16% of $1.6 billion annual PGA value revenue is charitable. The rest goes to players and PGA staff.
USA interests have destroyed more lives than is know. Over reacting to a single Saudi event was grand standing and hypocrisy at its worst.
This allows for a broader bigger commercial entertainment product, think exhibitions, vs current PGA model.

All for it and thanks to Jon Rahm for being the sensible one through it all. Guys just earning a living.

It isn't an hour, and it isn't 15 minutes either. I've played courses it's a five minute walk or more range to tee box.
    45 minutes covers it
Unwind the clicgear and load bag,
Pro shop settle up takes a few minutes.
    Meet and greet fellow players
    Loosen up.
Hit a small bucket 25 or 40 balls
Roll 12 putts various distances breaks
Be at teebox at least 9 minutes prior. No need to crowd prior, no need to scurry up one minute before own.

    Fix the survey
Button one > at least an hour
    And
Button four > more than an hour
    Are same thing
Make Button one 30-60 minutes and survey time blocks make more sense.

As odd as it sounds, you've likely adapted your swing to fit your clubs. The clubs are incapable of change if that makes sense.
Wouldn't use distance as the change criteria. Consistency repeatable trajectory is the key to lower score with course mgt and putting.
A good fitter will tell you if your swing is good enough for a fitting.

Bought PGA Superstore house brand...two wore out in a single day of range warm up and round of golf. I told store Mgr and he shrugged his shoulders.

My footjoy gloves seem to last at least six or more rounds. The get crusty before they fall apart.

My Kirkland gloves are holding up well to several rounds each.

I will play a glove with a small tear if material in fingers is otherwise supple.

In my balata days, 3 or 4 holes max. For Discussion later is why spell check on a golf forum wants to autocorrect to blatant.

Current, on a good, normal day, one ball, whole round.  Maybe 1/3 of rounds I lose a ball or two according to water hazards in play or how deep leaves are along tree line.

Yes, I find more (TM Cway Srixon) than AVX  lost.

Started walking 2 years ago. Bought a 3 wheel cart to take a load off the 60 year old back. Overall goes well. Couple summer days 90def 90humidity and I am whipped. Relatively hilly courses in foothills.

I visited a course and tried to walk, it was 300-500 yards between first 3 of 4 holes. That ended quickly.
