I would do it through eBay or get his PayPal and do it through Goods and Services.

Look for used sets of course until you feel comfortable in your game swing and know what you need to work on. I am a little biased at this point, but check out Sub70 as they have used clubs and are a solid company with great clubs and will save you some money. Other than that, 2nd swing, rock Bottom golf something along those lines will save you money as well.

I recently had a fitting and purchased new irons, Calloway Mavriks. While I hit them extremely well, and they felt great doing so, I was not aware they were strong lofted. This has thrown off the rest of my clubs. These are the clubs/lofts I got.
    6 - 24 7 - 27 8 -31.5 9 - 36 PW - 41 AW - 46 I have a GBB Epic (10.5), Titleist 917 F2 (15 & 18), Titleist 916 H1 (21) on the one side, and an old (almost non-conforming) pair of PureSpin wedges (52 &56).
    1. I don't hit my 3 or 5 woods or the 6 iron particularly well.
    2. I need to replace my wedges with something a bit more forgiving and conforming.
At the top end do I go with 5 wedges (PW, AW1, AW2, SW, LW) or change the lofts on the 2 wedges from 52 & 56 to 52 & 58 and have 4 wedges(PW, AW, SW, LW)?
At the bottom end do I switch to a hybrid for my 6 iron and possibly my 5 wood?
I'm just looking for suggestions. I'm a high handicapper, but getting better.

Second. I don't carry a 5W, but I hit my buddy's Ping at the range and had the exact same experience.

I found the PING G425's were the best in terms of dispersion and how easy they are off the deck. Lacked a little distance, but I was looking for accuracy over distance.

It moves the center of gravity of the putter toward the heavier weight.  the slight CoG change and the change in total weight will alter how the putter rotates.

for me I prefer to see the "whole putter" , meaning I dont really aim with the markings on the putter head
I alignment my eyes more with the butt end  of the handle and focus more on the movement of the butt end and the handle
Im  a good long putter  with that method. when Im inside tap in range I focus on the leading edge
Its the 3-10 foot range putts that confuse me . I prefer having a naked putter cause busy lines distract me
I have not tried a dot , but might after reading this thread as its not as busy looking

Did my first fitting and it ended up being a full bag (except putter). It was pretty amazing the effect different shafts had. Also, just had jumbo MCC +4 grips put on.

    Callaway Epic Max
    Titleist TSi2 3W
    Callaway Apex 3H
    Callaway Apex 21 4-A
    Mizuno T20 54/58
    Odyssey Stroke Lab Ten
Putter was from Callaway preowned and was a steal for what looks like a brand new putter.

    2. changed gapr utility to a cobra king utility and let me tell you its my hands down best golf purchase ive ever made. So fun and easy to hit straight and long!
    3. My scotty was customized to black rainbow pvd with black pvd shaft. This is a real treat since ive been waiting for it to return home for 6 months.  Pictures do not give this putter the justice!

    thanks for looking.

Edel is really the only fitting that focuses on aim biases that I have seen.  I am more in the camp of consistent aim and then fitting the putter to rotate properly through the stroke.  But it sounds like you did a great job in fine tuning your putter.

Very true and valid point.  I couldn't find a way to copy the alignment part of the fit.  Even bought a couple dollar laser pointer and had some reflective tape and tried.  LOL.
It was a very primitive test for sure.   Lots of ways to find the fairway so to speak.   It was impressive enough to me to see the need to go get fit for a putter.  And now I won't do one in which fitting for sight lines isn't part of the fit.    In rural Iowa though, easier said than done.   : (

Interesting experiment and similar to Edel except you didn’t describe fitting for aim.   you looked at where the ball went so you are looking at face angle at impact and path influences.   Aim at setup does not always matchup with impact.   What that means is that your best results may come from a setup that aimed right or left of the hole and the path and rotation of the putter returned it to a better impact position.

After reading of how Edel does their putting fittings and of the individuality on sight lines and how individuals perceive them as open/square/shut, I did some experimenting with my putter.  I taped over the sight line and tried different configurations of marks with a sharpie.  Primitive I know.  But you know what? Some putts I consistently hit to the right of the cup, others to the left and some right into the hole.   When you are on a practice mat on concrete in your house and there are basically no ground inconsistencies like grass bumps or breaks etc, you hit exactly where you are aimed.   Or will over the course of a bunch of putts.   I narrowed down a lot of options to just a few and worked them forward and backward and came to the conclusion which one was best for me on my current putter.   Been putting with so much more confidence ever since.   And holing a bunch of putts!
I'd still like to do a proper putter fitting but based on what my conclusions are on sight lines but I am not convinced anything sort of a fitting that addresses the individuality of site lines is adequate.
Try the test our and see for yourself.   Unless you are gaming a triple track or something with a ton of sight lines it is really easy to do and costs you nothing.

Flange line only. Had a few Odyssey putters years ago (DFX?) that the site lines always looks skewed to me that when it looked like it was aimed on my line, made the putter to appear as if the face was open.

Been playing for about 8 years now, not as good as I’d like to be but have been steadily improving over the last few years. No official handicap, but i’m typically in the high 80s/low 90s. Long time reader/watcher of the youtube/podcasts I figured I would start becoming active on the forums. Enjoy my WITB/BYOB!

    Lots of questions here.
Golf gloves is tough to answer. Premium leather gloves in hot humid summers will not last as long. If you have a death grip on the club you will wear holes in the glove quicker. At your stage of the game I would stick with synthetic gloves. They will hold up longer. A premium leather glove can last a dozen rounds or less and cost twice as much as synthetic.
I wouldn't invest in a fitting at this stage but suggest you invest in lessons. You will get more bang for the buck with lessons first.
Regarding rules, if you want an official handicap you have to follow the rules. When you are starting out you need to enjoy the game. If you try to follow all the rules you will probably get discouraged. Golf is a hard game. As you get better you can start adding in more rules. For now a mulligan, foot wedge, free drop is fine. Pick up and move on after double par if there is a group behind you. Remember you have to keep the game moving or the people behind you will get irritated.
We were all new to the game at one time or another. Enjoy the process, don't get to frustrated and have fun.

I love being outdoors and playing a sport. I am too old to play the sports I did growing up, so golf allows me to be competitive, but also enjoy the outdoors.
I know I will never play professionally, so I never let a bad shot bother me, I always reality check and say I am just lucky to be out here having fun.

Mine was getting the correct grind and bounce on my wedges for when I need to use them in the specific situations. Been a life saver, no more duffs.
